  1. We are going to order some rum from the fun shop and bring on some juices and pop for mixes. But I'm wondering if I can carry on grenadine. I've seen earlier posts that say yes, but I'm wondering if I still can since all juice etc is supposed to be in cans or cartons and grenadine comes in a bottle.

Sorry, nothing at all in bottles. Only canned stuff now Except wine, we are lucky that we can still carry on the two bottles of wine

  2. You keep OBC that you get when booking on board no matter what. Be sure to check your info when changing rates as some people have reported it disappeared due to Carnival's error. It's best to call for price drops in this case to make sure they understand the OBC is from booking on board and not from a previous rate.

Thank you! I will call them later to see about switching rates. An extra $50 OBC will be sweet to have

  3. A simpler quicker answer is the cost of security for these ships. The crew would have to be trained, certified and cleared by an extensive background check to work on these. But every passenger will also have to be cleared to be on those ships. And if you think the military does not do their background checks on their crews you would be wrong. How do I know - 20 years as a military wife has taught me plenty.

Besides the costs of building these ships, there would be the cost of the higher salaries for the crews that work on them (much higher than regular engines) then the cost of screening for all the passengers. Great idea, but to many costs involved in both the building and the long run operations of these ships.

On final note- not every country will allow a nuclear power ship in their waters. Not even the military type. And if you ask how can they refuse it - simple - they aren't at war with them and will respect their country wishes. And those who hate tendering - you would have much more tendering as even if the country would let them in their waters they aren't letting them in their ports.

  4. Aw, that wasn't us. We were in room 7434. I am sorry we missed you! :(

You are right, the crew was amazing. I forgot to write about the time we used the hot tub on the Serenity. It was so windy and water kept sloshing in my face!

I just looked at the deck plans. You guys were just around the corner from us but not in the cabin I was thinking of.

Sorry we missed meeting up. Due to some health issues (none contagious! and was cleared by doctor to cruise) I was not suppose to drink alcohol :eek:and tended to sleep a lot because of medications so we didn't mingle very much this cruise and just hung out in the cabin or on the balcony. I was hoping to not have to much sun on the balcony but that didn't happen (had to avoid sun due to medication). I was the crazy lady swimming/snorkeling in the long sleeve white t-shirt in St Thomas and Grand Turk. Which worked because I did not get sunburned!

Once again congratulations on your wedding and wish a long life of wedded bliss!

  5. We were on this cruise with you and were one of your neighbors. Loved the Just Married sign on your door. We had cabin 7453. Noticed one of our dining room waiters is in your picture from the tea time. He is from Bali. We did not attend the meet and greet. This was our 6th cruise all on Carnival, so we do compare crew/ships to the others we have sailed. We felt this was a wonderful very friendly crew. We both liked the ship but I felt the Lido deck was very windy when the ship was moving.

Wishing both of you a long wonderful future together. Glad your first cruise hooked you to go on more.

  6. The doors were not metal on the Ecstasy or the Inspiration

We found some locker type of decorations we could use at a school supply store. They were of a peel/stick and remove type. So they are fully reusable. Came with the erasable pens. We could leave messages for others in the group. My uncle and his cabin steward left messages for each other too! Such as hope you have a great day, sweet dreams, it was really cute to see how happy this made my uncle. Also found these removable type stickers at a closeout chain store that had fish/ ships/beach items. Grandkids like decorating their doors and these peeled off with no mess and now are in pages of their scrapbooks. Their dad took a picture of a plain door and made it into a scrapbook page (he is an IT geek so this was easy for him) the kids got to re-stick their fishes/beach items on it.

  7. We used them last Feb. We had a total of 3 vehicles and I booked a head of time. Our spaces were available, right next to each other. There was not a shuttle at the time but the lot is right by the terminal so there is not that much walking. Do like suggested, Drop off passengers and luggage go park and reverse when you get back.

  8. There is a reason I have only been to Tijuana once. I did not like the place. Why go back to someplace I don't like??? Progreso did feel dirty to me like Tijuana did, there were flies landing on the food. I won't eat food from anywhere that I keep seeing flies landing on including places in the U.S. At least I did do some research on the port, I knew it was not picture perfect clean place, somehow I did still expect it to be a little bit better than it was. Wanted to do the double decker bus tour, but grandkids didn't. Like I said, they wanted to go to the beach, why force them on the bus and have them whinning to annoy other people. If I didn't have the two young kids with me, I would have done other things than the beach. (yes, there were two more with us that are not in the picture). People going there on a cruise should plan ahead and do something other than hanging at the beach or right in Progreso.

As far as the peddlers making in a living, I can see that side too, But 47 in one hour is to much. That is just a little over one per minute. Some took the no thank you and moved on, a couple of them kept pushing.

  9. Also, I mentioned the peddlers. Did not say anything else about the people who live there. Did not have enough interactions with them other then vendors or peddlers. The few I did meet that were not trying to sell something were warm sweet people. But I did not feel the beach was pretty, and while I know the water is the Gulf, it was not clean and clear. It was murky. Click on the picture. You can see the murky water in the waves. This was taken in Feb, there were no storms to churn it up.

  10. I live here and frequently trash Progreso as well, but this post takes it to another level. It is NOT Tijuana, people! I suspect that this particular poster would not have enjoyed Merida, Uxmal or Dzibilchaltun either.

Stating I may not like Merida, Uxmal or Dzibilchaltun is not fair. I have not been there and would not make any determination about it until I did. As stated, my DH spent 20 years in the Navy. We have seen other countries and even lived in them. My favorite was in the Azores, we lived on Terceira Island. Not on the Lajes base, but out with the citizens. The house we rented...had to have converters for everything, and had to clean the mold off the walls on regular basis. So I have lived in areas that are not "westernized" and loved it. As far as Progresso goes, the peddlers on the beach are out of hand. Maybe it is different when cruise ships are not there, but then that is all I have to compare to. We had two young kids that only wanted to play on a beach. Period. We did not drag them on any excursions or travel further from the beach because of them. We did not feel it would be fair to any other tourists to have to listen to children whining they wanted to go to the beach. BTW...my daughter lives in San Diego, we have been to Tijuana once...Progress reminds me of Tijuana. If you don't agree that is your opinion.
