Yay!!! Super excited. A little anxious about being THAT forward, but who cares. I'll be on a ship!! :)

  2. So, we are 39 days out today and some who are booked on our cruise received their room assignment yesterday, I still have no room assignment. Do you think they don't do all of them at the same time? The girl I talked to had 4 in her room and we only have 2. Maybe that is the reason? I would think that ours would be coming really soon though!! So excited!!

  3. Living within (reasonable) driving distance from only Galveston and New Orleans, I wish they could expand some itineraries for the Gulf sailings. We have done Coz/Grand Cayman/Jamaica twice and will do Coz/Belize/Roatan for the first time in May. The only other 7-day offered is Key West and Bahamas but they are few and far between and hard to catch when it agrees with our schedule. I know distance is an issue, but when airfare costs more than the cruise itself, that's just not feasible for us!

No assignment yet (88 days out) but thought I would go ahead and post so I can find the post to come back and update after our assignment. The anticipation is killing me!!! :)

  5. We went to Paradise Beach last March when cruising on the Carnival Magic. There were several ships in port that day (like 5 or 6 at least I think, it was on a Friday). The facility looked very nice but you couldn't stir the people with a stick. There were no beach chairs available at all and we finally squeezed in on a side of the pool. I've talked to others that had a great time there, it may have just been our timing but it made us not want to go to any other pay as you go type beach clubs either.

  6. We have enjoyed day pass to Buccanos while staying on the island. Some people complain it is too busy with cruise excursions. There is plenty to do if you are looking for water sport activities but we found quiet loungers to the right of the entrance on a terrace with ocean view but not ON the beach. The beach is relatively small. We enjoyed the pool and good bar service despite distance from the bar. We did not eat but the restaurant has good reputation especially for dinner (only served Friday and Saturday night) if you are staying on the island or late in port on those days. There is a tequila tasting, which I believe is free, and massages available. Great bathroom facilities.

The only thing that slightly annoys me about this location and why we don't gnerally go there when cruising, is the pricing policy for independent cruise ship visitors but if you are on an excursion that will not affect you. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the information. We will be there from 8-4, so dinner will not be an option. Only two ships in port on our day, so hopefully that'll keep the crowds down a little.

  7. I took advantage of the Cyber Monday Flash Sale and got my rate changed to ES. They offered me a one-time courtesy of a downgrade to a balcony guarantee. My rate stayed exactly the same (we booked at $740 for a balcony during the 35-hour sale on the 19th). Nothing changed except for the fact that we are now ES and even though I doubt we will get another price drop lower than this, at least we will be eligible for OBC promotions. Thanks for all your help!

  8. One other thing I forgot about, the destination deals also has free upgrades...can I also upgrade my balcony to a higher deck with Early Saver? Also finding that some rooms don't show as available by looking at different rates, for example the back 4 aft cabins on deck 6 (not aft balconies, but the ones on either side) don't show as available in ES but do with Destination Deals, strange...

Sorry for all the questions, weighing all the options...thanks for y'all's help!

  9. Good evening, I've looked for this information and haven't seen anything about it anywhere. I'm currently booked with the 35-hour sale a few weeks back with a balcony guarantee. My question is this, could I change my booking to early saver today, actually select my cabin, and then turn around and submit the price drop form for the destination deals sale they are running right now with the $100 obc? Then, I can keep my early saver in case there are any other price drops between now and sailing. Has anyone done this before and had success? Thanks!!

  10. We just booked on the Carnival Freedom for May 30 during the 35+ hour sale. We booked a balcony guarantee and saved $388 versus the Early Saver rate and this rate was so cheap that I'm pretty sure the Early Saver won't drop below what we paid. I am very OCD and like having everything planned out accordingly, so this is a huge struggle for me, especially since they told me it would most likely be 10 days prior to sail when we would find out our stateroom. My husband just keeps telling me, we're on the ship and have a balcony, who cares where it is! So, I'm excited, plus I have more to look forward to once we find out what our room is, I keep checking to see if they've assigned it yet, lol!

  12. We will be traveling back to Grand Cayman in March. Last year we did the turtle farm (through Carnival) and loved it. This year, we want to go to Stingray City. I am looking for people who have done other stingray excursions and want to know what they liked or didn't like about them. We are looking at Carnival and other companies as well Are there any out there with a lunch option? It will for sure be me, my husband, and our 13-year-old daughter, possibly others from our group as well. We will be on the Magic in March. Thanks in advance for any info!
