My buddies and I like a nice cigar and some cognac late in the evenings, after the ladies have called it a night.      Where on Summit are locations available to have a cigar?    Also, is there a location that sells cigars on board?   We'll likely bring our own stash but its always nice to try something new.

    TIA

We just got off the summit about a week ago.  Like others have said deck 11 mast bar only.  I will add though, that the bar is supposed to be open till 9. However, the couple of times that we went up there for a cigar, the bar was already closed by 8:30-45.  The next to the closest bar is the sky lounge and I don't know about cognac, but they had a limited selection of bourbon which my hubby likes to drink with his cigar.  Actually, he had a hard time finding a nice bourbon anywhere on the ship, and he did have the premium package.  The bummer is that bar, actually had double oaked woodford reserve. But, they were always closed when we got there, and he couldn't find it anywhere else.  So, I would consider grabbing a drink somewhere else before heading up there, maybe at the rendezvous lounge, they probably had one of the better selections.  If you are leaving out of San Juan, we recommend the Cigar House on Fortaleza, they have a huge selection.  They have two stores, right next to each other.  The one has a very nice lounge with comfy chairs.  My husband would not buy cigars on the ship.

im cruising the gem on 2/24 and booked  the spencer Ambrose tour! We drive to anse chastened the first time visiting st Lucia and the snorkeling was incredible, the driving not so much... I’m hoping things go smoothly with the tour... not pleased to hear the late start and disorganized comment 😞

You should be fine, I am hoping that what we experienced was not the norm.  We didn't let it affect our day, though it was disappointing that it happened.  My advice is to take some Dramamine or something similar before going.  After getting on the boat, we had to go pick up an employee that was late or something.  Then take him to another boat to pick something up, then dropped him off at another boat.  Then we had to pick up some late people, so the beginning was kind of rough.  We were just kinda bobbing in the water not going fast for all of that.  My mom who thought she would be fine, ended up begging me for some.  Once, we finally got going it was totally fine.  I'm just glad I had taken the medicine and had some for my mom or things may have been rougher then what they were.  When we got dropped at Anse Chastanet, they told us to stay there on the pier and the guy we picked up and dropped off would meet us here on another boat in 5 minutes and would give us the scoop on everything.  Well he didn't show up for about 45 minutes, and by that time after asking numerous people from the resort we pretty much had things figured out.  I had just gotten a drink and had gotten myself into the water when he got there, he never came over and checked on us.  For people that have been there before, this may be no big deal.  For our group though who were first timers, being told to stand somewhere and not knowing anything about the place we listened.  So that kinda got us off to a rough start, and took up some beach time.  I think better communication could have made things better.  But, oh well, it by no means ruined our day. The boat ride, beaches, and the plantain salad all made for a great day!!

THANK YOU!!!  This is just the review I was looking for.  This seems like a good place for our group of seven (4 adults and 3 teens).

My cruise was just changed to include St. Lucia (rather than Martinique).  Could you tell me what beach you visited?  I just started researching today.

    Kathi

We did Anse Chastanet and Jalousie beach. We took a speed boat tour with Spencer Ambrose tours, while they were a little disorganized and we got off to a late start, the tour was great. They dropped us off at one beach then picked us up by boat to take us to the other beach. The snorkeling there is amazing, and I don’t even like snorkeling.

  5. We hired skinny Carson for the day to take us around the island, and we are so glad we did.  He was very knowledgeable and personable, he described himself as having "the gift of gab" and he certainly did!  We started out at eating at the Roundhouse, which was very delicious and had the best rum punch ever.  Not the kind you get for free from lot's of tours, like the real good stuff.  We then went over to Bathsheba and took some amazing photos.  We were supposed to head over to crane after that, but he recommended going somewhere else since there was a lot of seaweed that day.  He said he would still take us to go see, but we opted to listen to his advice and move on.  He took us to Pirates beach and it was stunning.  Easy to get in and out of the water, cheap drinks, and had a great time talking to some locals hanging out in the water.  If you are looking for a driver, I highly recommend him for your day!

  6. We visited Beach Limerez, Monday, 1/27/20 and we are glad we did!  I had read so many conflicting things, that I wanted to make sure I left a review, whether it was good or bad.  Thankfully, it was very good!  We had a fantastic day, from the people that worked there, the place was super cute, food and drinks were great, and we were ok with the beach!  I wish I had gotten some more pics of the place, I thought I did, but maybe my hubby has them.  If I find more, I will post later.  We are beach people so we decided to bypass the lounge chairs and put our stuff down on the beach.  There was absolutely nothing wrong with the chairs, they were not right on the water, but very very close and were in good condition.  There was a few other people there utilizing them.  We had great service, however, I will say we had to go get our own drinks they did not serve us on the beach.  Which we were totally ok with.  I'm not good with distances or measurements, I could not tell you how far we went, other then it was very close and did not take long at all to get drinks and did not put us out in the least bit.  Limerez, is not very big, everything is pretty close together, but in a good way.  We were a group of 6 and I think there was another group of about 6 and we felt like we had a private beach day, it was fantastic!  The water was pretty easy to get in and out of, there was a bit of a step to get out, but actually one of the easier beaches on our trip to get out of, I think the only day easier for us was our Barbados day. The beach is smaller right there in front of the place, but it wasn't more then a few steps to put our stuff down.  I will post some pics, the first one is us and it us pretty much right in front of Limerez looking in that direction, the second one is of us looking toward the rest of the beach heading in the other direction.  The last one in a pic looking out from the restaurant area, which was super cute I hope I can find a pic.  When you get there you set a time to come up for lunch and it was fantastic!  When it was time to go, we got drinks to go and they even threw in an extra one in.  I would most definitely return if I am back in Antigua again one day.  Did we go to some better beaches on our trip, yes, we were blown away by St Lucia, and Barbados.  But, Antigua, was still very beautiful and was one of our favorite days!  Because, having a place almost to yourself, with amazing food and drinks right there, how can you beat that!

Looking at our options for Antigua in 2 weeks.  Looks like the ship has beach extrusion to both FFryes and Dickenson Bay. We could taken them or cab it on our own. Price is not awful.
I know Beach Limerez has some fans on here. But the idea of walking 200 yards down the road for beach access is a negative to us. Love to have some feedback.

I was just at Beach limerez last week on Monday the 27th.  I can't say enough good things about it, we had a fantastic day!  I am getting ready to post a review on it in just a few in a new topic.

Carlisle bay- about 5 minutes from the pier by taxi is lovely water and relatively calm. However, it does get busy at the beach clubs there- but lots to do.

The St Lawrence gap area has some nice beaches, but the best are on the west coast near Holetown.

Thanks, I will probably stay away from the Carlisle bay being so close to the pier, but I for sure will look up the St Lawrence gap area.

  9. We have an upcoming day booked with skinny Carson, and I thought I would check on here to make sure that I am not missing anything.  We were thinking to be with him for 5-6 hours, ship is in port 8 from 11-7.  We are a group of 6 adults, who like to drink and eat yummy food on the beach.  Anything, with a pretty view, but we will be in Barbados so I'm sure it's all going to pretty. Animal flower cave sounds great, but I think it's on the north side and I don't think I want to spend the day in the car either.  So far we know we want to go to Bathsheba and crane beach, which looks to be closer southeast if I'm correct. Also, if I remember correctly those places are not ideal for calm water.  So thinking we may want to add a calm beach to our day as well, not sure which though.  I'm sure he will have suggestions, but any other thoughts from here?

  10. Because, of this post a group of us are booking this for January, and we are excited!! None of us have been to Antigua before. Would y’all recommend allowing some time to walk around and see the downtown/port area before heading over to the beach? Or should we just have Gail arrange pickup for us right when they open?

  11. Not a risk I’m willing to take either. I’m flying January 2020, to get on the Summit and I’m flying in the day before. I’ve been to Puerto Rico before, but always have a blast. I’m looking forward to spending the evening in old San Juan, then I plan on boarding around lunch time the day of departure.  I also, bought trip insurance just in case, but even with that I’m too nervous to go same day.

  12. Loving your review, thanks for taking the time to do it! I will be in a 7a in January 2020, along with my mom, best friend, and our spouses.  We have cabins right in a row. I was wondering if you noticed if the balcony dividers can open up? Thanks, enjoy your cruise!!

  13. We were there in January, and did it on our own. We took the water taxi there, and a short airplane ride back. We had plenty of time and it was a great day. Lazy lizard was up and running when we went. There is beach areas, we didn’t sit on the beach so I don’t remember much about it. We walked along it and it was very pretty. We walked around the island, stopped and ate and drank at a few places. Would definitely recommend going there.

  14. I have noted for a few years now that if you book a cruise on board that is farish away its actually a bad idea to book it as it seems most cruises drop in price nearer to the sail date by $100 or more.

I see why lines do it and why people like to get in early but I personally would not unless it was a very unusual and desired cruise that might get very expensive.

I do need to book early, two of the cabins are for my immediate family. My husband and I have 4 kids, so we need to get two cabins together. However, I was under the impression that if a cruise dropped in price, you could get onboard credit for the difference? We definitely spend a lot with a big family so any onboard credit is great for us!

  15. I will be going on a 5 day cruise out of Galveston in a few weeks, on the Legend. I'm also, planning another 7 day cruise for next year with my family. We will need 5 cabins all together. If I remember correctly there are some sort of discounts or perks for booking while on a cruise?? Would I even be able to book for my entire family? But, then again next week is black Friday I wonder if there are usually deals then? Any ideas what would be the best option? Thanks!!!!!
