  1. We are crossing our fingers that our a 2021 Mediterranean cruise booked on the Enchanted Princess is going to happen.  The ship is - in theory - similar to the Royal, Regal, Majestic, or Sky Princess, and we just got a notice of upgrade to Deluxe Balcony cabin D 617.  I have to let my travel agent know if we do not want the upgrade. Otherwise they will just move us.

Based on the messages above, it sounds as though if you are upgraded from a balcony to a Deluxe Balcony cabin that has a pullman you don't need (the little triangle), the pullman will be recessed in the ceiling.

I won't need to worry about bumping my head or my shoulder on it.  Is that right?

If something is sticking out, I am very likely to bump into it.

    Thank you so much.

yep those flu shots this year really missed the mark...and the one that hit was ugly

Do you have a reference for your statement "those the flu shots for this year really missed the mark"?  This is not my understanding of the relationship between the 2019-2020 vaccine and the 2019-2020 flu observed in the US thus far this flu season.  The four strains in this year's flu shot are

    • The A(H1N1)pdm09 vaccine component (updated from an A/Michigan/45/2015 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus to an A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus)
    • The A(H3N2) vaccine component (updated from an A/Singapore/INFIMH-16-0019/2016 A(H3N2)-like virus to an A/Kansas/14/2017 (H3N2)-like virus)
    • Both B/Victoria and B/Yamagata virus components (the ones from the 2018-2019 remain the same for the 2019-2020 flu vaccine)

For the US 2019-2020 flu season, we are seeing have been about 60% B, 40% A this year, a higher portion of B than in the recent past. The B strains we have seen have been more than 95%  B/Victoria. (Some people who had the flu shot have still caught B/Victoria; the shot is not 100% effective.)  The A strain being seen most (mostly in adults and seniors) has been the A(H1N1)pdm09

My information comes from the CDC:

What is in the vaccine: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

    What is being observed: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

  3. Our Princess Cruise will be at Georgetown, Grand Cayman, on Thursday, March 12, 7 am to 4 pm. We'll tender in from the ship before 8 am and then we have an excursion from 8:30 to 9:30 am. After that, we would like to go to an area where my husband can rent snorkel equipment for the day and I can sit on the beach.  Any suggestions for a beach that is nice for snorkeling and not too hard to get to? The beach itself doesn't have to be outstanding; i just want to sit in the sun and relax.  Thank you!

We board the Regal 4 Sundays from today....   We are NOT huge Steeler fans...  HAHA !!!!

We board the Regal in about six weeks and we are not Steelers fans. I'm enjoying this thread, though. 🙂 What is a "King's Cruise Lottery" listed several times in the Patter?

  5. How does the $200 off work?  I am looking at this lovely April 2021 cruise from Rome to Athens.  I think it is okay to buy the cruise through the travel agent. To get the $200 off, we need to specify Princess EZ Air, and we would choose our flights, and then when would princess buy our plane tickets?  Usually there are such changes in flight schedules.  I am not usually one to buy tickets 15 months before a trip, but I suppose we could.  Previously, we've managed our own flights, but $200 off sounds nice.

This morning I could see prices for every category of cabin and now I can't see prices for any category of cabin.

When we have been in port lat or over night, Princess has made all MDR ATD for that night

Oh, I hope they do that. That would be sensible. I can't imagine people actually making the early traditional dining time when we're in Cozumel 10 am to 10 pm.  Thanks!

These are the supposed rules for dining:

If you sign up for Traditional timing, you are only allowed to go to the Anytime dining room after 7:30 PM so

    ...

As far as reservations in the anytime dining rooms, they usually only allow reservations around 5:00 PM or after 7:30 PM.  This leaves the 2 hours in the middle open for walk up seating for those with the anytime dining assignment as outlined in their booking.

    ...

Anyway, from what Princess told us, if you have traditional dining, you are allowed to use the anytime dining room only as mentioned above, after 7:30 PM.  I commend those head waiters that deny a seat until later in the evening for those with traditional dining assignments, even though they don't abide by their own rules on every sailing.

This is new information to me, and this is very useful to know.

We have Traditional Dining on the Regal Princess for our March 8 cruise, and on the Friday the 13th we are in Cozumel 10 am to 10 pm; the three excursions we are considering end too late for us to make our early seating. I thought we couldn't ever use the Anytime Dining room - this sounds like yes, we can use the anytime dining room, as long as we use it at 7:30 or later.  Is there something posted on line somewhere that explains this? (This is our second Princess Cruise but during our Alaska cruise it was easy for us to make it to our Traditional Dining Room dinner on time every night.) And it sounds as if we go at 8 pm, we should be able to get in fairly easily.

    Thank you so much.

  8. Kind experts –

Below is the itinerary for our March 9 - 15 Western Caribbean cruise.  This is our second Princess Cruise.  Do you think that the first formal night will probably be March 10? Do you think that March 12 might possibly be the second Formal Night? Is there a system for figuring out Formal Night days?  I've read that they often ARE on Days at sea and that they are never on the last night of the cruise. Thank you! Jennifer

    • Sunday Mar 8 Depart Fort Lauderdale 4 pm
    • Monday Mar 9 Princess Cays, Bahamas 9 am to 5 pm
    • Tuesday Mar 10 at Sea (Probably the first formal night)
    • Weds March 11 Falmouth, Jamaica 8 am to 5 pm
    • Thurs March 12 Georgetown, Grand Cayman 7 am to 4 pm (Possibly the second formal night?)
    • Friday March 13 Cozumel 10 am to 10 pm
    • Saturday March 14 at Sea
    • Sunday March 15 Back in Fort Lauderdale
  9. Hi YAKE - Join the May 26 Ruby Princess roll call - there are a few of us over there already getting excited for this trip. I’m traveling with a group of seven and we’re hoping we can eat in the main dining room for embarkation day lunch and we’re hoping we can play cards during off hours in the Horizon Court.

  10. Sounds like another good reason not to be first among the Medallion cruisers and in this case even before they've begun.

We always have a backup of movies to play in case they're selection isn't great.

"a backup of movies" - Is there a DVD player so we can watch our own movies on DVDs?

  11. On some ships, when you are in your cabin, you put your key card in a slot by the door, and the power in your cabin works, and then when you leave your cabin, you take your key card out of the slot by the door, and your power will turn off. Does Ruby Princess cabin electricity work like this? I usually charge my iPhone during the night and my iPad during the day.

I read that if your cabin's electricity is like this, if you want to leave an iPad or camera battery charging in your empty cabin, you should bring an extra card that you wouldn't mind leaving in the cabin door slot when you're out and about.

    Thank you.
