  1. We are Pinnacle on RCL, but have just booked on the Jade for an 18 night itinerary from Cape Town to Dubai Jan. 2022.  Our last NCL cruise was in 1996!  However, we were still able to locate our Latitudes membership numbers and got the 15% member discount.  So pleased about that!  I will look at the FAQ's before asking any questions.  Would have loved to book the Haven but out of our price range!  So we booked the forward Penthouse Suite.  Looking forward to Cape Town, which is one of the few places still on our bucket list!

  2. We were in 11730 the last week of January. LOTS of improvements over ATS on Oasis and Allure. The balcony extra sq ft is averaged over the full balcony as it wraps around. I would say at least a foot wider on each side and the "bump out" will now hold a full table and 4 chairs, as well as the 2 loungers.

The bathroom is the size of an OS with both tub and shower. Huge.

More storage space in the bedroom and the living area. Very nice cabin with all the improvements.

If you are outside on the balcony the movie, shows or other entertainment (including practices for the aqua show) can be annoying. Inside, we never heard any noise at all from any shows. The bedroom is on the outside portion of the cabin (facing the sea) so there is no noise in the bedroom at all. We kept the sliding doors closed.

Hope this helps. Will try to post some pics from my phone later.

  3. We booked an Owners Suite on the Oasis for the return from drydock from Rotterdam to Ft. Lauderdale in Oct. 2014. It was a very special occasion and we had never booked an OS before.

We got a call from RCCL as we were changing planes in Atlanta on our way to Amsterdam. Our suite was no longer available and they were moving us to a JS with an extra $500 OBC and a refund in the difference between the JS and the OS. I said no way and call me again when we get to Amsterdam.

Long story short, they called all the passengers booked in other OS and gave the one who surrendered their cabin a free cruise for taking the JS and giving us their OS.

We were told that the suite was unihabitable due to unfinished construction from the drydock. Actually, I learned on board that they gave our suite to the Construction Manager and his family.

We did get some additional compensation but you never know when you travel what surprises await you and what problem solving abilities you are going to have to use! I was upset but have (somewhat) gotten over it because life is too short to be mad for too long. We still cruise RCCL but I check my cabin assignments frequently.

  4. Anybody have info about Harony's JS's? We'll be on in two weeks and I will be disappointed if there is no walk-in closet.

Yes, the JS on Harmony has a walk in closet. The furniture is more like the Quantum and Anthem, with fewer drawers. The room feels very spacious, and we liked it a lot.

Tried to attach some pics but there was an error message. Check out my pics of the cabin on cruise deck plans dot com.

Meanwhile I will try to figure out what the error is with posting pics.

  5. Got this email from RCI today at 12:08PM

As our valued Crown & Anchor® Society member, we're giving you an exclusive 24-hour booking window for our newly released 2017 Alaska Adventures. Explore the Last Frontier on a coastal sailing, or opt for a Cruisetour into Alaska's interior

After all these years (about 20) of being a C&A member, I still cannot get on the email list! I have repeatedly checked the box on my profile, and when I am booking cruises, etc. Still, no email like this ever. Maybe I'm not one of the valued members...Thank goodness for Cruise Critic!

Any suggestions for a successful outcome?

  6. Another consideration is the privacy issue. Cabins are directly across from each other and with the curtains open, especially with lights on at night, you can be seen inside your cabin. Many have mentioned having to keep the curtains drawn much of the time.

Also, your balcony is visible to those walking in Central Park and also all the others on their balconies!

A plus for the Central Park balconies is that the view is lovely down to the park and the string quartet plays from time to time which would sound lovely from the balcony!

  7. We've got a CLS and and OS booked. Thinking of booking a A 3/4 in the future. Why would you recommend booking an OS instead?

Just got off the Oasis yesterday in 11330. We have been in an OS and a CLS also, so have experienced all 3. We are balcony cruisers and choose our cabins on balcony first and cabin second.

Everyone has different tastes and different opinions. For what it is worth, this is ours, and we support others' that are different from ours.

We LOVED the balcony on 11330. We spent hours on it, from breakfast coffee on the ocean side everyone morning to afternoons in the loungers, to evenings watching the Aqua Theater shows, or rock climbing. We moved furniture around to suit whether we wanted shade, sun, big table, small table, etc. Absolutely loved it. The people in 12330 said they could only see us if we are standing at the rail on the part that juts out the farthest.

We do not like the balcony in the CLS. Small and completely filled up with 2 loungers and a table. No way to eat any meals out there comfortably. Probably will not book a CLS again.

The Owner's Suite is wonderful but quite often out of our price range. The table and 4 chairs are wonderful for meals and the 2 loungers are far enough away to give adequate space to move around in between.

If you are unsure, you would be best to go with the OS, especially if the price is close to the same. I have pictures of all 3 balconies that I will try to find and post for comparison.

  8. Annette and Wayne ~ Nice cover on the PE webcam FB page. You gave me a great idea for when we have that cabin 11330 in April to hang my banner on the wall behind. I always struggled hanging it on the balcony railing. Great wave.

Emmy, we used magnets and it worked great! We absolutely loved the cabin and the balcony. After such a fiasco on the TA from Rotterdam it was wonderful to enjoy all the perks that were not done on that cruise. We ate at Coastal Kitchen 4 times and enjoyed it each time. The new escorted service from the Suites lounge to disembark was an absolute dream. We were in our car on the way home in 30 minutes from leaving the suite lounge!

If you have any questions about the cabin let me know. I know you have seen it but living in it is a different experience. The storage was great and the bathroom was about the same size as in a JS. Not bad at all if you are less than 6' tall!

Thanks for the screen shot of sailaway. We really appreciate it!

  9. Annette & Wayne. What a beautiful gift. When I get back I will post picture of the beautiful flower arrangement you left. You didn't have to do that ! So beautiful !!! Alabama and Ohio State for the Championship ? !!! Gerry

Hope the flower arrangement lasts a few more days! We enjoyed it for several days ourselves. We are now home. The 3 hour drive from Ft. Lauderdale to Bradenton was a breeze.

Tell Gilbert hello for us. He is a very good stateroom attendant. We LOVED the cabin. It is arranged so differently it took us a while to know our space but we found it to have lots of storage and of course the balcony is the BEST.

We will be on the Oasis for playoffs the week of Jan. 2 for Wayne's 75th birthday bash and we will make Pinnacle that week. Come join us! Friendly rivalry only....

  10. That's interesting, because in Oasis and Allure the cabins/balconies get progressively smaller as you go up. Wonder what changed in the Harmony ? We also have 11730 booked in December 2016. We will be boarding GS 11330 August 22 as you are getting off. Hoping you have a great cruise and really enjoy "our" cabin. :) Gerry

We will take good care of it. Will leave you a "Roll Tide" poster so you Buckeyes will remember us in the upcoming season!

It will be interesting to see if the Harmony cabins really do end up so much larger than the Oasis and Allure. We had one booked on the Harmony TA in October 2016 but could not tolerate the high high high price! So we switched to a JS instead. The price is much more reasonable for the Feb. 2017 cruise.

We have requested a "zoom in" on sail away on Saturday and have a big banner that says "Bon Voyage" and some nautical flags. Look for us on the webcam!

  11. Sue do you have a photo or two you might be able to post to especially illustrate the size of the balcony.

I have a friend who booked his cabin for Harmony but of course right now have no way of knowing if the cabin /balcony is the same size or not.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Still looking forward to 11330 and the larger balcony.

Hi, Emmy! We have 11330 on Saturday and I will try to take pics and post Saturday before sailaway. Otherwise, I will post them at the next port.

We also have 11730 booked on Harmony in 2017. The dimensions of these "A4" cabins are different on Harmony than on Oasis or Allure. If memory serves me correctly deck 14 has the biggest deck but the smallest cabin. Deck 12 has the largest cabin and the smallest deck. Deck 11 is between the 2 in deck size and cabin size. I will look up the dimensions and post them.
