  1. Anyone here have any reviews or been to Blue Bay Dive area. Its like a 15min drive from port. I want to do some shore diving while family relaxes on the beach but cannot find anything on it here. The youtube and other reviews online seem good. If you have experience here please share.

    thanks!

Was there a couple of weeks ago. I personally would just get the free shuttle to the ‘public’ beach. It is the same stretch of sand as 360 about 50 yards further along. You can hire loungers and umbrellas and there are food trucks selling booze and food. It is much quieter as well. I couldn’t understand why you’d want to pay a fortune to be packed into a small stretch of sand on a long beach (and you use the same shuttle to get to 360)

The beach at at the end of the pier is also excellent but no facilities. There is a small group of shops and a nice bar that had live music just as you go through the gates and bear round to the left and it is on the right.

    I really liked the island.

how do we know where to get off for the 'public' beach? do you recall the name?

  3. Now I only have one. We took her when she was about 9 months and just now this past weekend and she is now 2 y/o. We had a blast. We always do a balcony because of the more room and we can be out there when she naps. The trick I think is to bring them toys to be entertained and know you will not be out dancing all the time. Most nights we are back in the room by 9pm. It’s ok it’s just a different type of cruising then when there are no kids. Your still not cooking, cleaning or working so I encourage for the entire family to go it’s better then not taking a vacation. And if your kids cry at night do your best to comfort them. If the neighbors don’t like it they can put the tv on or put on some ear plugs. Get some at the pursers desk for free. I have been on both sides of the table and have enjoyed myself either way. Also tip extra on the first day your room steward as he will be working extra for you.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  4. In Cozumel I would read on the port of call boards and pick one of the beaches that appeals to you. Likewise, the port area in Costa Maya has tons of ships but I would take a cab to the Malecon.

Belize I would either book an excursion to the zoo or tag team a snorkel on Goffs Caye; my son was two when we went there and it was a tiny atoll that he had tons of fun exploring. This has a 15-20 minute tender ride to shore (kids loved it) but no beach or pool in the small port area. Book something here or just stay on the boat.

In Roatan ( my kids favorite port) I would book a private tour with Island Marketing or Victor Bodden and let them take you to see the monkeys and birds and sloths, visit the iguana sanctuary and take you to West Bay beach. This island is too beautiful and the people to wonderful just to stay in the port built by the cruise line. We also enjoyed Gumbaljmba park when my son was that age.

wow good tips thanks! i find myself on this same itinerary with a 2.5y/o thanks again!

  5. Dont worry about the food. Wife and i brought our then 9month with us and luggaged a bunch of premade foods and used none of it. Only things we used was oatmeal in the morning that we mixed with formula milk the rest of the time we gave her Puree food that the ship made for us. First day you go to the dinning area and ask for puree food for lunch and dinner every day of the week and when you go to the dining area let them know you requested that and they will bring it. We had Butternut Squash puree that was her fav at that time and some others made daily fresh for her. We took a 4 day cruise with her and brought 1 box of papers only ended up using 1/4 of it but we were ready. Also when we we would change her diapers we put them in a closed small garbage bag, ask your room steward for a bunch they will appreciate it not having to handle dirty smelly garbage bags. We had a balcony so baby and i would sleep while mom would sun bathe in the balcony.

We also took a small umbrella stroller from walmart cost like $26 and it was a lifesaver no need for those big bulky strollers.

Of course no shows for us as we didnt want to disturb anyone incase she cried etc... but we were all about the pool parties and anything pool side even though babys that still are not potty trained cannot use the pool areas.

If you get to a beach try to rent a umbrella or clamshell for shade dont rely on getting natural shade as those are hard to get.

Also we carried extra clothes for her all the time. Extra snacks and some toys for her to play with.

A hat and sunglasses if they can handle it. My baby loved her hat but not the glasses to much.

And like someone said you will be very popular with everyone! especially the staff. Take advantage of it if they offer something take it!

Most the staff have children and miss their own so they like to spoil ours.

I never leave my child with childcare because there are so many creeps out there but to each their own.

we had a blast with our baby its a bit different then cruising solo but we enjoyed her to the max. Also if you have family or friends you trust let them baby sit a little while you go do something fun too even if that's just sleeping! lol.

    enjoy!

  6. Wife and I also stayed in room 11229 last year. Loved it because it was a balcony. Loved the robes and the access to the different steam rooms and the direct access. I could cruise without it next time. Wife said she really liked it but i think i enjoyed the balcony more then the spa use.

The room was quiet. We did have friends staying on an inside room and they could hear the dumbbells fall in the mornings.

    thank

  7. There are two area for showers, atleast that was the case on the Breeze.

Two sets in the bathroom were the sauna is at by the GYM, and anyone can go in those.

Two other sets in the bathroom in the actual spa area, those have some side shower heads but nothing too speacial. I think in there they expect to see your SPA bracelet.

    hope that helps some.

  8. well i must start off apologizing if one of your neighbors was my wife...lol

She likes to blast music while she showers and gets dressed for dinner. We were also in the spa rooms on the 11th floor.in a balcony at the 6pm early dinning. So again sorry if from 5-6pm she had music going eeeek...she don't read these forums so i should be ok.....

the water situation did suck but at least it was only one day.

  9. Don't know if this matters, but will you be allowed to erect your own umbrella on the beaches? I know many of them have umbrella rentals, I wouldn't be surprised if they were a bit territorial and didn't allow 'outside' umbrellas.

Just something to think about

Well most beaches are public, for example ill be going to PR soon. But I know still some vendors might give me the evil eye :/

Ill look more into that Tent either way.

  10. Rather than a beach umbrella, which is large and can be difficult to transport, consider getting a beach tent (or beach cabana). You can find them on Amazon, and most sporting goods stores. We got ours from Eddie Bauer. A beach tent is easy to set up, and is relatively compact when packed up. The one we have is similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Genji-Sports-Beach-Star-Tent/dp/B00CDFVK0O/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1433272785&sr=8-5&keywords=beach+tent

thanks for the idea of the tent. I am driving into port so i can bring an umbrella.

I like the tent but I like to feel the sand in my feet and the wind in my face in a Tent i feel it will block the wind and I would be inside a tent so none of those would happen.....

Oh the struggles and hard decisions I face lol....

    thanks for the ideas all.

I am leaning towards an umbrella still.
