We have Global Entry, so so too concerned with a line downstairs.
I have Global Entry, but my wife does not. Does that mean we have to go through the regular (non Global Entry) lines together?

I am just chiming in late here, as you look at the water it would be on your far right side of the beach. ... All that takes time and money, this beach is right there and free. Hope you have a fun time.
Thanks for the tip! Do you recall the water depth? I'd prefer deeper than standing depth. (Like, maybe 10' - 20')

Like OlsSalt said, the best snorkeling is way down at the end of the beach. You have to swim out and around the end of the rocks. It's not bad once you get out around the corner. There are old pier pilings (totally submerged) that attract fish and several little alcoves with reef fish swimming around. There are also a couple small private beaches you can rest on. No, it's not the best snorkeling in the world, but it's not bad. I would do it again.
Are you talking about near the tender channel/dock? If so, that sounds like a dangerous place to be.

Best snorkeling reported to be at the very far end of the beach, until you reach the rocky point.
Not to be snarky, but a beach has two ends. Which one? (Ignore this if the "rocky point" is obvious.
Thanks.

I’m not a fan of the aft area disaster. it makes it difficult to enjoy the sea when back there relaxing, drinking or having a snack. Obviously not a deal breaker as this is our fourth adventure on this ship.
Can you explain "aft area disaster?" We've booked an upcoming cruise on Veendam. Is there cause for concern?

Do you remember the water depth? I'd like something in the 10' - 20' deep range.

One little trick about SJU is that no matter which security checkpoint you use, you can access all gates. For example, if your flight departs from concourse B, C or D and the line is insanely long, you can walk over to the dedicated Jetblue security checkpoint at terminal A and then back track, or vice versa.
We've only used Florida ports for cruising in the past. Is San Juan a good alternative for airfare, lodging, port transfers, etc.? (We live in Ohio.) Thanks!

My wife and I are flying out of CVG tomorrow and we'll be overnight in Ft. Lauderdale. Planning on Uber from FLL to the hotel when we arrive, and then again on Sat. morning to the port. This will be our third cruise, and first with HAL. Fingers crossed that all this $$ will be worth it!!! Looking forward to reading your review, and posting our own.
