  1. This thread triggered a memory I tried to put out of my head. Last year while sailing on the Emerald Princess, I was up on the sun deck reading a book and enjoying the sunshine. I didn't mean to look over, but I saw an older woman stand up and proceed to take her bathing suit bottom off in order to change to another one. She had a longer shirt on, but it did not cover her bottom half very well. I got to see some old lady bottom which I really didn't need to see. I've seen it all, but I just wanted to scrub my brain and was a bit taken aback how nonchalant she was. I guess it was too much effort to go back to her cabin or walk a few steps down to the lotus spa locker rooms to change.

  2. I'm 33 and wear a skirted swim bottom with my tankini suit. I saw quite a few younger women wear the skirted tankini bottoms on our cruise last year and they looked great. I got my suit from Lands End modeled by younger women in the pictures and it looked cute on the model. It looks flattering on my lumpy body. I do have a regular swim bottom as well, but I have to say the skirted one looks much better on me. I have big, dimply thighs that I wish to hide for now.

The only draw back is with the skirt going up and getting in the way when swimming or hanging out in the water. One way to have the best of both worlds is to have a regular swim bottom with a tankini and wear a cute running skirt (check out skirtsports.com) over it as a cover up. You can remove the skirt before swimming and not have to deal with the drippy skirt afterwards.
