On my last two cruises, I asked that the mini bar be emptied and they REFUSED. It's very annoying because I want to keep my water in there.

On my next cruise, I'm going to press the issue at customer service.

  2. The OBC that is provided by making a booking while on a cruise should never be lost, regardless of a price adjustment. We even switched a 7 day to a 9 day, which had a cheaper price and got the increase in the credit because it is the standard terms of the benefits of booking a cruise while on a cruise. We also got the increase when switching one from the 7 to a 17 day too.

Thanks!!!! This info will definitely help my TA fight the battle should the price drop again - and I think it will!!

  3. I have never had my OBC from a Decide Now booking reduced no matter when I found a price drop. The balcony discount may go down by $25 or even disappear if a particular promotion isn't combinable with it, but the OBC has always remained intact. The system is set up to wipe out the OBC from those bookings, but it's always been reinstated, either on the spot by a good agent, or after I get the confirmation and notice that it's gone.

Thanks for the info Critterchick! I will let my TA know.

  4. And then when the waiters sing and dance everyone waves their napkins in the air sprewing all kinds of germs around. Oh how I hate that practice and cover my face when people start up with the waving.

I agree!! Lol! Two nights ago, one of the "coughers" blew his nose on the dinner napkin. I thought, "I hope they burn that!"

  5. Hi all - I'm the OP of this thread and I wanted to let you know how I'm making out on the Anthem of the Seas cruise. I've had no problem getting a table for one in the dining venues. However, the diners at the adjacent tables have been so interesting and nice that I haven't been reading my book!! Lol!! Seven more days to go! [emoji41]

  6. I am currently on Anthem of the Seas. At dinner last night, the diners at the table next to me were coughing like crazy and blowing their noses. If contagious, they are jeopardizing a lot of other people's vacations! Last year, I sat next to someone that was very sick and ended up bedridden with the flu for the last two days of my cruise. I also missed work when I returned. If you're sick, please don't board.

  7. This is a video of the solo balcony on Quantum with the large balcony

As mentioned there are only 16 on the ship, so they sell out fast.

For the best pricing its best to book when the new schedules come out this spring....after that they are hard to find on most itineraries and the prices jump considerably.

This is the link to the cabins on the Royal site

    http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cabinclass/cabinTypes/cabinType/home.do?br=R&cabincls=B&cabinType=UB

THANK YOU!! This is excellent information.

  8. Are these secret cabins? I did a search on RCI's website (limited to Quantum-class ships) and didn't find any references to single-sized balcony staterooms (or even solo-sized interior staterooms).

I'm not trying to be a jerk; I'm genuinely interested in finding good deals for a solo cruise.

They are called "Super Studio Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony". You will only see them displayed as an option is you select "1" for number of passengers.

  9. "I loved your rant" isn't something I often hear! LOL.

A good rant deserves recognition! Lol!! BTW, I've never read a book during a meal with other people at the table either. I always felt too uncomfortable. BUT I have summoned the Chutzpah I need to do it (if I have to) on my next cruise. Look out people!! I'm coming with a book and I'm gonna read it. ;0P

  10. I actually agree with most you write here.

It is the part you left out that I feel is most rude.

You didn't comment about being at a large table where others are seated and reading while eating. I have no issue about someone sitting alone and reading. I have little issue about someone reading, another person joining them and they continue to read. I have an issue about someone at a large table where others are being congenial and reading while they are present, eating and chatting.

As long as they say the don't mind having a "reader" at the table, in my opinion, it is not rude.

  11. I don't like plain water and I don't like the lemonade/ice tea provided by the cruise line. I packed a cooler bag with 9 bottles of flavored seltzer water, put a luggage tag on it and gave it to the porter. It was delivered to my room with the rest of my luggage with no problem.

I think the cruise line is most concerned with passengers bringing liquor on-board.

You are the only one who knows what your children need. I'm sure the cruise line will work with you.

    Enjoy your cruise!!!
