  1. We were married at sea on Princess in 2003. I kept my dress on for the day, since it was formal night. They reserved our entire party's dinner table, it was sprinkled with rose petals. The other diners joined in to our party, clinking glasses. It was like an at home dinner reception only I didn't know anyone lol

They also gave us one of the bars that wasn't being used (Skywalkers), with a single bar tender and DJ. We had our cake and first dance there with the rest of our party, away from the rest of the ship.

We also had photos done on the back of the ship and on the bridge - those were worth the price of admission :)

I don't know how NCL does weddings, but I would think that these sorts of things could be requested and provided by NCL with little trouble.

  2. Does anyone know if the specialty restaurants all have high chairs? We hope to eat at Cagneys several nights during our cruise (as well as a few others) and I am hoping to make sure that there is a place for our littlest guy to sit.

He does great in restaurants, as we take him out frequently at home. He loves to eat and we always bring a table loaded with Mickey Mouse and Chuggington episodes, just in case. :D We just want to make sure there will be a place for him to sit once we get there.

  3. newtocruising...welcome to the EARTH sisterhood!

I would just like to mention that it is our spring break this week...I will definitely have the opportunity to bum around the mall for at least one day...if not two (hello tennis camp for DS!)...and am planning on doing so...my birthday is around the corner and I'm debating getting myself a little something...

My point is that if anyone would like to share more specifics on what they are hoping to find...I would be happy to have more purposes to my mall wanderings...I will happily report my findings.

Dawn...I checked out that website you mentioned...just to post it here incase anyone else does...I read a review where the reviewer was frustrated because they relied on the picture for trying to figure out the color...they thought they were getting a pink like color, when in reality is was a more coral/orange kind of color...the description of the color clearly says that the color is a kind of orange coral color...and the temperature was "warm"...I am sure that we are all learning this...but you can NOT rely on online photos to determine color...too much influences our perseption of the color...from the lighting in the room where the photo was taken to whether or not they photoshopped (editted the photo)...to the calibration of our own monitors...the zoya website has great written descriptions of the colors, which is very helpful. Dawn...how is the quality of that polish? It's a bit pricy, but I do like online shopping...

I can report that Target has some nice bathing suits in EARTH colors...there is a lounge worthy tankini in a deep brown crochet type look with bronze threading throughout...doesn't look like a good swimming suit...ALSO..there is a beautiful deep green bikini (if you have the body for it) with muted golden colored embroidery on it...again more like a lounging type thing...there are more...but those were the two that stuck in my mind...Didn't really see any great cover ups there though...

I did see some burmuda style shorts in a dressier fabric...in good neutral colors...

Quality is very good and none of the "evil" chemicals that so many polishes have.

I like the site because I love to have RED toes in the summer. (I am a fair winter) and I love the color that ends up when you mix winter purple and winter hot pink (bright MAGENTA?) - both can easily end up in a Fire color scheme from being ordered online. So this gives me the color selection I crave and the assurance that I am buying the right tone for my skin. I got the most fabulous red, I adore it.

  4. I like Zoya.com for nail polish. they list the Tone on each of their polishes as warm or cool. So, then all you have to do is determine if the color is muted or bright. Very high quality polish and once a year, if you follow them on facebook, they give away 3 bottles for only the cost of shipping.

  5. Winter butting in :D

Chattie Kathie, if you like romantic styled clothes, check out http://www.anthropologie.com, http://www.shopruche.com and http://www.modcloth.com. All have romantic, vintage styled clothes and in various pallets. There are often styles I turn down because they are too much the opposite of what will look good on me. (I'll cheat on my season with some summer colors, but never towards the warm seasons)

  6. I'm not African American, but I have very thick, curly hair that I wear natural. If you are going natural, I would recommend making a spray bottle of conditioner (I use a dry/damaged hair conditioner for this) mixed with water. Whenever you get out of the salt water, spray your hair with this mixture. It will take the "edge off" of the havoc and dryness the saltwater creates and make the eventual wash out so much easier on your hair and scalp.

  7. I have curly hair as well, though not African American. If you are taking any tours where you aren't going ot have immediate access to fresh water, in addition to conditioning before you go out, you should make a mix of conditioner and water in a spray bottle that you can spray on your hair when you get out of the water. It will help tide you over until you can get a good rinsing.
