  1. Cavecreekguy:

I work in justice. If this is the only entry on your record get a copy showing the very dated conviction. If asked tell the truth and have a copy. Your honesty will get you through. If they don't ask, don't feel the urge to volunteer. They are busy enough. You are not what custom officers are looking for.

  2. Great to hear. I just finished my 7th on Carnival and there was a Windstar at one of the Ports. I have always been interested in a smaller and more intimate ship. Can I ask about the cabins. How is the view as I have always had a balcony on Carnival? Did you feel claustrophobic. And can I ask about the price. Is it comparable? Tks in advance

  3. I am not sure when we will be returning next to Sydney... We have a lot of driving planned for the other ports, We aren't crazy about crowds, and don't mind self-touring. Hubbie is a history buff...

So in a roundabout way I guess what I am asking is whether or not we would be disappointed if we took a chance on Louisbourg in September...the "shoulder season" even with the reduced services? I've poured over Tom's Port guide and the Canadian Government publication he recommended, and it seemed like there was plenty to see on our own???

The Fort is just one of the highlights of Louisburg. I'm not knocking Baddeck because the drive to Baddeck is gorgeous. Besides the Fort there is a gorgeous lighthouse with trails all along the coast. There is also a hidden beach called Kennington Cove. September would be perfect as the restaurants and shops would still be open and not as busy. It's easy to get to. They are both good choices.

  4. BTW, the capital of Newfoundland is St. John's not St. John.

I remember an acquaintance who got quite upset if anyone forgot the "'s".

I was going to jump in here. Yes we do get upset when flatlanders forget that we are St. John's, Newfoundland (pronounced New Fin Land-just say it fast) and not St. John, which is in New Brunswick. Completely different.

  5. We will be docked in Mahogany Bay in April, with I believe one other ship. I looked at the "Relax on the beach package" I love the idea but it only buys admission for two. We're a family of three. Has anyone had any trouble with buying two tickets and only having three people? What's everyone's opinions? Is it hard to get a good chair at the beach when two ships are in port? Also if I go with the excursion can you put down the clam shell? or can we choose an open seat?

Don't buy an excursion. Walk off the ship and there are tons of open air cabs waiting. Just tell them where you want to go. They will round up a bunch of people going in the same area. They stop at all of the look offs so you can take pics. Drop you off at the beach and they will arrange a pick up time.. however no worries as there are tons of cabs waiting to take people back. It was nice and waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper

  6. Hi there: We did an Aft balcony for our Europe trip on the Magic. The sun was nice. It did seem that you got more sun and for longer. The only reason that I would not do it again is because I am a very light sleeper. I felt the vibrations from the engine changes every time we came into Port. It woke me up every time. Other than that we enjoyed the extra room. It was my 50th bday cruise as well! lol

  7. Just to be super safe - bring along a printed copy of your booking confirmation that shows the OBC. Just in case you have to "prove" it should be on your accounts! ;) :D

Absolutely! We lost credits two cruises ago. They were there before we left Canada and then mysteriously disappeared. I had to reapply for them when I got home. I now print off the account summary before I leave home. It wasn't a big deal just annoying.

  8. Hi Paul

We are both coffee lovers. I like a light to medium roast and he likes medium to dark. He can drink Starbucks black...I cannot lol. I find the coffee on the Lido passable but I also like lots of milk or cream and no sugar. He hates the coffee on the Lido. The coffee in the dining room at dinner is somehow different. I don't know if it is because of the wonderful dinners but it just tastes better. We always have coffee after dinner. The 'for a price' coffee at the specialty shops is also very good. Try the Caribbean coffee...it has a kick to it but it is delicious. Coffee is my favourite food group.
