  1. Im 28 and wear a skirted one piece. I bought it just for my cruise too. Im hefty on the hips and booty, and I wanted to cover it up. Im very comfortable in it. I wore it around my friends, none of whom have bikkini bods, and they ooohed and ahhhed. So I guess simple and black and skirted works for me. I got mine off ebay. But my BFF,who is larger than me got a tankini at Walmart this year. Its so cute on her,and flatters her fuller figure. I say whatever youre comfortable in and out of the pool in. I'l say this about the dress, it was kinda weird having that skirt swimming, but after a few,I got used to it. :)

  2. I write a list of everything I want to take, then score off a few things that I know are wants rather than needs.

Then I pack the cases, weigh them just to make sure, and off we go!

We flew to Florida for a 2 week holiday last Christmas, our cases weighted 8,9 and 11 kilograms each. That's 17.5, 19.8 and 24.2 lbs

Full size toiletries and all the clothes I wanted. Our carry ons had no spare clothing, just a book, Nintendo DS etc. for our entertainment.

Good Idea about weighing them. Ill do that. Im only taking one large suitcase and my back pack carryon.

  3. Ive not sailed, but I have flown. My roomie and I have to hit a Walmart,so I plan to buy my snorkle stuff, after I fly,and give it to a friend who will take it home with her,she lives close to Jax. I wont use it again. To save space and weight,Im taking ultra light clothes. No jeans for sure. My "formal" dress is super light,as well as my black pants and poly blouses I plan to mix n match with it. as for shoes, I have big feet.So Im taking my O.N. Flip flops and a couple other pair of flip flops made from that foamy stuff. Plus my new dress shoes are super light. But I wont skimp on my toiletries. Im too sensative to soaps and stuff to take a chance on having hives the whole cruise. Hives=bynadryl=not too much fun for Sarah.

I also plan the underwear thing.Im bout due for a new pack of Hanes her Ways, and will be buying new ones when I get home.

Right now though, totally OFF topic, we're moving. So Im trying to figure out how to keep moving boxes light too.I cant lift much weight. So wish me luck on that. We're doing the whole 7 rednecks and some trucks moving. lol. they work for beer and hot dogs.

  4. Thanks for the heads up on Island Critters...I grew up on a lake,so we always had to be aware of snakes...but there arent too many scoprions in N.MS where Im from.

I feel a hammock calling my name from there.....only 102 more days till the tender.....

  5. Don't even need the clamshell. Lots of shade along the trees. You can move the chairs into the shade if there are none left when you arrive. If you get to the island early enough, you might even get one of the hammocks in the shade. Of course, we've only been there in Nov. I'm sure it will be much warmer in July. Enjoy,

    Ahhh A Hammock on Some Beach Somewhere. I had to do this prodject for my Phych 2 class a few years ago.We had to make a poster of our life, childhood,adulthood,and what we want in the future. I just so happend to have put an empty hammock picture on that board,lol. So i guess I AM do what I want to,and life is good. .....{totally off subject,but relevant,IMO just the same.:)}

  6. Thanks Ya'll. FL I hope you enjoy yourself! Come ON JULY!!!! lol. Its 20 here in West Tn,and the high yesterday didnt get over 10,{I dont think, lol}. So Id be loving some 40's bout Now!

Top~ thanks for the bug spray tip. We're planning a camping trip in April {more than that,if our kids like it,we know we do} anyway, Im going to get some of that SUnblock with repelant. I asked that, b/c I will be very "excursion poor". I do think my roomie and I will get a clam shell. So they run out of those?

  7. Ok, Ive looked a few pages back, and didnt see this, so I have a couple of ?'s

Is it ok to take your own floatie mats? Like the ones from the dollar store you blow up yourself and can lay around in the water on?

AND, can you walk around yourself with out paying for the guided tour as long as you stay on the beaten path?

This stop is the reason the Whale Tail Club booked our particular sailing. I cant wait!!! Esp with the cold weather I think EVERYONE has been having, its nice to imagine being there.;)

  8. We did Dizbul this past Monday and it was pretty good. My two boys (6&7) had a great time climbing on the ruins and swimming in the sink hole. My wife really liked the tour too.

We didn't get off the ship until about 9:30. When we arrived at the market where the shuttle bus dropped us off we booked the tour to Dizbul. He said the tour would leave at 10:15. We paid $77.00 for my family of four's tour to Dizbul. It was $29 per adult and $19 for one of the kids (they let one go for free).

While we waited wondered around the market for a bit and I bought some bottles of water that were two for a dollar to take on the tour. Then I noticed an internet cafe right across the street. I asked the lady how much it cost and she said it was $1.00 for an hour. My wife wanted to check her email so she did. She said the internet was fast and worked great.

When she finished, we boarded the tour bus and headed to Dizbul. It took about 25 minutes to get there. We toured the ruins for a little over an hour and then made our way to the cenote for a swim. If you didn't want to swim you could wonder about on your own (visit the museum or whatever). We took a dip in the cool water for about 45 minutes and then headed back to the entrance where there is a giftshop.

The tour bus left Diz at about 1:15. We were back in the market by 2:00 which left us about an hour to browse and shop before catching a shuttle back to the ship. There is a nice shopping area right at the dock too so you could shop there but we decided to shop in town.

We had to be back on the ship by 3:30 (four o'clock sailing) and we were able to do all of the stuff we wanted to do (tour + shopping).

That is exactly what I was looking for when I peeked in here! DH and are considering the DB tour and beach break through Carnival. But it looks cheaper to just get off the ship and do it that way! THANK you so very much for the helpful info !!!

  9. Our first cruise will be on Triumph in March. DH wanted a balcony, so we are booked in 6432. Its on the port, aft side. Smaller room, bigger balcony. Similar to the pics Wintercruiser posted. Identical lay out! Id say go on Triumph and get a big balcony! But since Im a newbie, I have nothing to compare it to just yet!

  10. Not me but.....My younger daughter, everywhere she goes, she takes pictures of toilets..started as a joke, since she is engaged to a plumber!

Older daughter travels everywhere with a little stuffed dog...and I mean everywhere! She is 29:rolleyes:

We always go out to a special dinner the night before we leave for any vacation, nice to calm down and have a few minutes of quiet time.

I think the toilet pics are cute!lol. My daddy is a plumber,so I can apprciate the symbolism,lol.....:)

  11. my wife does the foot thing also. What is it about this foot thing? I dont understand this at all. I just shut up and pose my feet to make my wife happy. She doesnt have a foot fetish or anything so I dont understand. Ladies please explain it if you can.

Good Morning! I dont quite understand the "foot thang" myself. I personally wear a size 11.So I have big feet for a woman. To me they are my most unattractive body part. So,I guess to help get over it,I take feet pics. Im also the one who paints everybody's toenails. Its snot I cant stand, but I like feet!lol.I always have my toes painted in some shade of red.My signature color is Opi's Im not Really a Waitress.I have like 4 bottles of that stuff! So I guess I just like to spread the pretty! I cant stand unpainted toenails, esp when women wear sandals.:DMaybe that helps.....

  12. I'm glad and sad Im not the only one who takes feet pics, lol.Sad b/c Im not as orginal as I thought, and glad to know Im not the only crazy one!I've gotten quite a laugh reading all these!

    Earthworm,I'm originally from MS,correctly pronounce Missippi,and Ya'll sounds like "yaaawwwl".lol.

I can't wait to take my own feet pics when we cruise, everywhere from the Amtrack,to the Port Authority,to Cozumel lol. You're reading a post by a woman who took her shoes off all over Philly last year.It was spitting snow,But I didnt care! Nothing can ever take away the feeling of Independance Hall's cold steps beneath my bare feet....Ahhhh! I cant wait for the sand in Mexico!!!!! I too get my feet "did" before I travel. And this year I added more to the tattoo on my foot.SO I now have 2 flowers and a bumble bee to snap shots along with the scenery!lol. What is a Carnival Special?

As far as what I collect. Its rocks. seriously. Rocks. They're free, and all of them are diffrent. And when you're a cheap skate like me, rocks are handy. I collect bigger ones from Camping trips and put them in my front flower bed.

  13. :DWhen I travel I take feet pictures. It started in San Diego,CA,a few years ago. I was at Mission Beach with my elderly Uncle. He didn't walk out to the water with me,and I needed proof I had been in the water. So I lowered the camera and snapped a feet pic. A tradition was born! Ive traveled by land, far and wide, and have feet pics to prove it,thus my profile pic. I've read where ppl have their embarkation traditions, like getting hammered on the Lido deck before you sail. But I was wondering what other things ppl do. My feet pics started something with my girlfriends. They take them now too. A cousin takes a travelling monkey with her that gets passed back and forth. So I was wondering what other ppl did, both on land and at sea....Can't wiat to hear these!:D
