Correct, it is the Sumner tunnel that is having closures. But that just means the traffic is moved to the Williams tunnel. On a normal day, once on the highway the airport is the next exit from the cruise port. At this point, it's hard to predict the traffic.
You will go through immigration at your first US port. So if that is before you get to Boston, you just walk off in Boston.
Thank you for your reply. We will go to Portland before getting to Boston.
Would you book an 11:30 domestic flight on a Sunday?

I am reading that the Sumner Tunnel will be closed from July5 to Aug5. Looking at a map, it appears that the Ted Williams tunnel goes from the cruiseport to Logan Airport. Is that correct? On Google maps it appears to be a 10 minute ride to the airport. Am thinking on a Sunday morning that would be pretty accurate. Thoughts?
Am looking at a flight on August 4 that leaves at 11:35. We would walk our luggage off the ship as soon as it clears. Do we go through customs at the port in Boston?

We will be coming into port on Sunday. Would taking an 11:35 am flight be cutting it too close? We plan on carrying our luggage off the ship.

Does the Caribbean Princess have a complimentary sauna and steam room?

Not sure where that came from - she slowed some but was never dead and no obvious mechanical issues.
Glad to know that. It was posted on the Enchantment FB fan page by someone who was onboard.

Does anyone have an update on the issues that EoS was having this afternoon. Someone posted that they were dead in the water. Someone else said she had issues a few weeks ago and had to be brought in by tug. We are supposed to board her on Sat for a 12 day cruise to Eastern Caribbean. Any info would be appreciated.

We go to Portland fairly frequently and love the Casco Bay Ferry offerings. There are a handful of different options that just go around to the different islands, or you can take the ferry to Peaks Island and grab lunch and walk around (although availability of public restrooms on Peaks is iffy).
Does the mail ferry run on Sunday? If we catch the one at 10, we should have time to walk around the town. Maybe we will try to get a donut at Holy Donuts before we catch the ferry.

Great news aboard the Emerald Star heading from Budapest to Amsterdam! We will be sailing the whole way! We got to Regensberg this morning with no problems and are headed to Nuremberg. The cruise director said we were past the part where we might have had some issues. The colors along the River Danube have been beautiful. We've had changeable weather but have not gotten wet! We have gotten to the stretch of river that has many locks. What a fascinating way to navigate the rivers!😊

We just heard we may be bussing between Vienna and Budapest. Any updates on this region?
We are on Emerald Star and are docked in Vienna. We left Budapest on Monday and had no problems. On to Melk tomorrow.

A brief look at the situation at Pfelling. At 10:45am the gauge was at 267cm. No real change is shown in the forecast but tomorrow a rise to 280cm is possible. With rain coming there is potential for more the day after. It is a little early to say more.
It is getting colder and frost could happen at night this week.

Wonder if the levels rise to 280 if Enerald Star can get to Nuremberg by Sunday?

Yes, the Main Danube Canal is a man-made structure and the level throughout maintained at a certain depth, allowing all river cruise ships* to navigate, with a few exceptions like when ice is a problem and for regular closure (pre-determined times known to the industry/companies), etc. No problem with low water.

*the oversized AmaMagna and Crystal Mozart excepted
With that being said, do you think the Emerald Star will be able to navigate all the way from Budapest to Amsterdam beginning on Sunday ending on Nov. 10 without having to change ships or be bussed ?
I know...that probably isn't a fair question.

A quick note: Pfelling gauge maintaining its level. Currently at 298cm. A slight drop is indicated for tomorrow.

Is there any rain forecasted in the areas where the river levels are low? We fly into Budapest on Sunday, 10/27. Leaving on Emerald Star to Amsterdam...

We fly into Budapest to board Emerald Star next Sunday. We sail to Amsterdam. Hoping all river levels are good enough for cruise passage. Will be checking often this week!

We stayed at an airbnb in San Juan before we cruised out on the Jewel on 2/4. The place was in the Ocean Park area of San Juan. Our apartment had a problem with mosquitos. We went to the Walgreens around the corner and bought a can of Raid.

They have great prices on liquor in the duty free shops in the airport.

Hey Castro, sounds like your beach is the one for us! Last year when we were at St. Lucia, I had no desire to come back. The cab drivers on the streets outside the cruise port were so pushy. We got back on the ship without even going to a beach. Now that I know there is a beach closeby, we would like to reserve 2 chairs on Feb. 20. We will be on Grandeur also.
Sorry not to meet you that day.
Cheers,
Susan

We booked an Extended Stay hotel through Trinity. Has anyone used them. It had mixed reviews. Closer to the port and restaurants is why we chose it .

Check out trinity reservations. They have a list of hotels with shuttles and parking. All prices are reasonable with no added fees.

Does anyone know why Royal Caribbean changed the itinerary on the Feb. 28 sailing? We were supposed to go to St. Kitts and we are going to St. Maarten instead.
How often do they do this? It's such short notice to switch!!

I knew I could count on CC for an answer.... will definitely keep it under 50 pounds!!
Thanks everyone!

Southwest allows 62 inches for their suitcases. I bought a piece of Samsonite soft side 29 inch luggage. If I measure just the suitcase I come up with 60.5. When I add the wheels it is right at 62. The lady from southwest said they include the wheels in the measurement. Would you risk taking it? I will watch the weight for sure...but is it cutting it to close. I don't want to pay 100 bucks if it is a tad over.

We are going on a B2B in March on Jewel of the Seas. My husband wants to know how much it costs to do a bag go laundry...also if you know how much, what size bag is it?

We went on tripadvisor and got an apartment in Ocean Park. We plan on starting our vacation at the beach before boarding the cruise. It was much less than a hotel room.
