  1. having lived in New Orleans (locals say Nawlens) be prepared for heavy humidity no matter the temperature. Be sure to have a strong hangover relieve. The best restaurants, even those uptown (e.g. Commander's Palace), may be fully reserved by Krewe members already but try the Court of Two Sisters now for Mardi Gras.

    Have a great time!!

  2. buy cans of your favorite "cold drink" before boarding and stick a room ticket on the cans. The porters will get it to your cabin about the same time or earlier as your luggage. Empty your fridge and fill it with the cans.

This way you don't have to travel some length to find a bartender.;p :)

  3. Campolady, thanks for all the info you posted..very helpful. I'm interested in buying a few small decorative tiles while in Malaga the end of the month. Can you advise the best places to find those?

Before taking the train out of town, try the Main El Corte Ingles store. El Corte Ingles in the largest department store change in Spain and they have everything: on a visit to Madrid a few years ago we purchased Lladro sculptures, canta flamengo recording and souvenirs all at the one store!

  4. We rarely drink alcohol but I, at least, drink soda like crazy. I wish to have the full can (12 oz) versus a glass (8 oz or less). Do I get a full can with my soda card or only a glass?? Also I have read on one of these entries that I can get 2 servings of soda at once on a soda card so that I don't need a soda card for my wife. True?

    Thanks.

  5. We have previously used independent travel insurance companies. This year we bought the Celebrity insurance. It seem most of the folks above who complained about the inadequacies of the policy or misrepresentations didn't read the policy. I did. The insurer is required by law to pay every thing listed on the policy. If something is not adequate, cancel the policy and buy a backup. You don't have the right to complain if you don't.

  6. My wife and I are going on a back-to-back cruise in the fall of 2018. Our TA has provided us with a nice amount of OBC on each segment. If we don't use all of the the OBC on the first segment, can we use the balance on the second segment of the cruise?

    Thanks

  7. Embassy Suites, evening cocktail hour and breakfast included. Microwave and fridge in room, several shops and restaurants nearby...Shuttles to port, I seem to remember at a nominal charge.

We stayed there last spring. Found a feeling of old, furniture and wallpaper in the restaurant was expensive. One elevator was down. Next time we will stay at one of the newer suite hotels.:(

  8. When you visit Invalides, be sure after visiting Napoleon's tomb to go around the back and visit the cathedral of the Army and the Army history museum.

On Sunday, the flower market becomes a pet market: birds, rabbits and strange things.

Behind Notre Dame is a small park and the entrance to the catacombs.

There is a little known hotel in the Hotel de Ville (the home of the Charity Hospital of Paris. You will be across the street from Notre Dame and next to an entrance to the Metro (a great way to see the city).

  9. A few years ago my wife and I were on a Celebrity cruise while she recovered from a surgically repaired broken ankle. I had arranged for her to have a scooter on board, a walker when off ship and excursions by car service-she couldn't get up the steps of a tour bus. Worked well because we got to see only what we wanted to see and not what or as long as the guide wanted.

  10. When we were still working in Louisiana (many Catholics), we brought back rosaries from Rome.

In Normandy, I (a trained historian) brought back a miniature Bayeux tapestry relating Williams conquer of England ("miniature" is 16 pages of heavy continuous paper.

  11. We hope (I'll be 75 and my wife 70) to take silhouette from Rome to Israel and Greece and then from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale via Italy, France, Spain and Tenerife.

We are stockholders of Carnival Lines. Will we receive shareholder OBC for both voyages?

This voyage is to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.

    Thanks
