  1. Loved your review, I am a teacher so I know when we get those breaks we do not think about work until we get back home. I will be going in August with most of my family. I have finally convinced everyone that cruising is the best vacation. I am hoping they love it as much as I do.

Your review will be a great part of my pre-cruise information gathering.

    Thanks

  2. This is just my OPINION....

We did this years ago. From what I remember, it was not worth it. The food was awful and covered in flies. Water sports...the only thing I remember back then, was jet skies. (not included)

Of course you MAY stay longer...but you would have to find your own way back.

No....I do not recall it as being a "party" crowd.

Wow you have really not been in a while. They have made really nice improvements to this area. There are other things you can do on the beach or on land they have basketball, volleyball, pingpong, chess in the water they have kayaks, trampoline, jet skis.

Now the drinks are free flowing and it really just depends on the crowd the food is nice and it was always covered when I went and I HATE flies. I had fun and would go again.

  3. See if they would rent the kayaks just for private use (instead of a kayak tour), then I think it would work out maybe a little better  since we could put our little one in there when she got tired. Psshhh, I can snorkel and hold on to a kayak as long as there's a rope on it. I have snorkeled with 1 hand basically for years holding on to my daughter with 1 hand and the camera in the other. :D You learn to multitask. :p

    Hi mitsugirly,

I know this place very well since my parents live down the road from it. It is a wonderful area and it really is never crowded so you can be comfortable and have a nice relaxing day. The staff is wonderful and will be willing to assist you and if your daughter needs assistance back I am sure if you give them a time they will come back out for you. I am sorry you can not make Gold Rock Creek it is beautiful I have done some camping out there and very nice. If you choose Port Lucaya it is a port but mainly for luxury vessels. This area is very touristy and gets filled when ships are in port. If you like shopping this is the area for you. There is the public beach here as well it is however next to two large resorts so not only the cruise crowd but the resort crowd.

    Hope this helps some.

  4. Freeport Harbour you have to catch a tour bus or taxi to get to the main part of town regular buses are not allowed in. There is some shopping around and Fat Tuesday and Senor frogs. What I would suggest, I live in Freeport, see if you can get a DIY tour to port Lucaya. It is the major area for tourist and has a public beach area lots of shopping and food.

  5. We have been to Freeport 3 times and have only gotten off the ship and walked around the little market. We have never adventured out any farther. However, I have seen this Taino Beach - all inclusive that is now being offered from Carnival. It seems too good to be true, 70 bucks for beach day, food and drink? The reviews seem pretty good on Carnival, but I was hoping some of the Cruise Critic Crew may have some insight on this excursion.

    Thanks,

Hi, I may be biased as well since I live in Freeport. My school, just the teachers, went out here for the day as a treat as school was getting out. I was surprised to go and see what they had done with the place. It was a lot of fun hanging out and the food and drinks were plentiful. It is a real nice place and there is also a little bit of shopping there as well. If you do not like that one you can get off the ship and get an excursion with the Junkanoo Beach club which has similar things to do and may be cheaper.

  6. Sad to hear this is your least favorite island since it is my home. However i can tell you club Fortuna is really nice to hang and chill. They have different things for you to do and lots to eat and drink. There are other places that may be cheaper and are similar Bahamas Adventures and Junkanoo Beach Club. I hope you enjoy your time in Freeport and maybe we can become a favorite.

  7. As a family of 4 not many of the hotels can accommodate us in 1 room with a double and 2 single beds so I have started to look at apartments. Some of them look lovely and are reasonably priced.

Can anyone recommend what area we should be basing ourselves in Barcelona for easy access to restaurants and attractions. We will be staying 3 nights.

Any apartment recommendations that are suitable for a family of 4?

Thank you in advance, any help is appreciated.

Have you considered airbnb they have great apartments or homes that you can rent and the prices vary. They have great neighborhoods some touristy and some very local check it out I will be doing them for my various nights in Europe this summer.

  8. I live in Freeport and the Brewery is a nice stop for tourist and you can even buy bottles of liquor to take home. Pat and Diane are great they work with lots of different vendors so you can always ask if there is anything else interesting on the island at the time. The perfume factory is a quick tour and they allow you to make your own fragrance and the straw market is small but okay always bargain if you are going to get anything. The beer is unlimited so drink up.
