  1. Hello Group

    I doubt this, but...

If one books a Flight Ease flight with HAL, on your booked cruise...

Does that money spent apply to "Onboard Spending" and give you additional points toward your Mariner status?

I know buying Shore Excursions before hand does count.

    Thanks

No question about it -- we would choose the Eurodam because she has the Tamarind restaurant which we love.

    Agree totally.

Tamarind is our favorite restaurant on HAL.

(Been on both ships in the last year)

  3. After staying a number of places, we now prefer the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort.

    Not cheep, but...

We do the HAL transfers from Airport to Hotel to Ship. No stress, done deal.

The hotel has a wonderful open air Breakfast Restaurant.

High end evening seafood Restaurant, and a really nice outdoor Pool, with a bar / nice restaurant there too.

And, walk out of the Hotel, and you're on the beach.

There is a Hertz in the lobby, and 40 bucks gets a car for the day to explore, or get to Total Wine.

    Taxi's would cost you more...

  4. I am confused.

On a 2014 Mediterranean Cruise, my wife fell and broke her foot on a HAL shore excursion at Pompeii.

They got us back to the Nieuw Amsterdam medical center.

Doctor, X-Rays, set her foot, gave us a strap on walking boot cast, pain meds, etc.

Communicated with our Doctor back in the US, e-mailed the X-rays...

I asked about costs, staff reply "Oh no sir, that's what we're here for".

    $0 charge.

    Has something changed?

  5. There will be both a Cellar Master and Master Chefs Table this cruise but neither are currently on the schedule for next week. Last cruise neither were available. I will keep checking for you as the cruise continues.

Wow, both on one 10 day, surprising.

The Neptune folk once told me only on 11 day or longer cruises.

Usually up to how busy the Chef feels that week.

    Thanks for asking.

    Sail well!

Don't eat to much Turkey, always save room for PIE

  6. Following your posts with great interest, as we board the Zuiderdam next Wednesday for the 11 day.

If you run into the Culinary Operations Manager again, ask if they are planning a Chefs or Sommelier dinner on the Nov. 30th cruise. We have done them in the past, and have been hoping that there might be one on this cruise.

We will of course inquire in the Neptune lounge as we board.

    Thanks very much.

  7. I appreciate your photo of the attire d'jour and, to be honest, can't wait to see what everyone is looking at! This is our first visit to Colombia. We will be taking the ship's tour (HAL Zuiderdam) that combines this destination with the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas, a gold museum and shopping. We should be one of the first busses there, as we leave port at 8am! Boarding in just two weeks and the excitement is hard to contain.

  8. Planning on touring La Popa Monastery and was wondering if women must adhere to a dress code. When visiting historic churches in Europe, many required covered shoulders/arms and hems no higher than knee-length. Those who did not know this were given thick, scratchy shawls. If this monastery requires a modest female traveler, I'd prefer to bring my own shawl. Trying to be respectful and trying to plan ahead.

  9. HI

My information is a bit old, from a 2012 Caribbean cruise.

We were told that they don't do the The Master Chef's Dinner, Sommelier's Dinner (Cellar Master's Dinner) on the 10 days cruises, as there in not enough time with all the other special dinners in the Pinnacle.

But they do on the 11 or more day if there is enough interest.

So go and inquire, and sign up anyway...

We did attend a Sommelier's Dinner on a 12 day med cruise last summer.

I would highly recommend it, some VERY exotic menu items we had heard of, but never seen before. And a different wine with each course.

    Quite the experience.

  10. If I recall correctly, the room service list of liquor is more extensive than the pre-order list. The list will be in your room.

    Very good, more to read!

I will ask in the Neptune if not.

Based on past experience, I doubt I will have to beg to hard there.

  11. I know they have my favorite "spirit" at the bar.

But it is not on the pre purchase wine / alcohol list.

Can I just order a bottle at a bar for the room?

Or can the Neptune Lounge folk make it happen?

    Thanks

  12. Hello, and first, thanks very much for the info and all the menus.

    Great help in planning.

    Taking our first Med cruise.

Noticing that the vast majority of the selections are not of European producers.

Would you think there any any changes to the selections offered there?

I believe the menus are standard whether your going to Alaska, St. Lucia or Rome.

So... Just buy a few bottles from France before we board... ? :)

    Thanks
