Does anyone know the Captain and Cruise director on board the "Balmoral" on the second sector of its world cruise from Dubai?

  2. Hi 1160451, I knew we weren't the only people booked! I'm super excited :) I will now check out the POC forum for Santaiago too. By the way my real name is Fi (Fiona) & hubby is Andy. Maybe bump into you onboard :) xx

So sorry we can't make this one with you, we have tried and tried and despite that waiting list to swap, no success :( We will catch up some time x

  3. We have been on the Captain's table a couple of times and with the Chief Engineer 8 or 9 times. On all of these occasions it was not restricted to couples! We have been on the Captain's table with a family of 4 and singles as well.

A lot depends on how you are selected, some are chosen by Cabin number, others have different reasons

    Hope this helps

  4. Thanks everyone :) We have since been offered a superior balcony suite if we paid £480 each extra :eek: I have politely declined that :D

Hi Steve, I see you have done a few more Fred trips since we met in the Caribbean in 2011. I took my previous cruises off as someone said it was showing off, but I may put them back on :)

Yes put them back on, does not show that you are showing off at all

Hope you are well, and wonder if our paths are going to cross at all again x

  5. We're going on the FO Baltic Capitals cruise in a few days (24th Nov).

When visiting St. Petersburg, I understand you can't travel around independently without a Russian visa. Presumably then most people will go on one of the FO excursions. My question is... is it always possible to get a place on one of these excursions without booking in advance, otherwise we'd be stuck on board!

Also, I see that our itinerary mentions 'Cruise Kiel Canal'. Is this an actual port stop, or is it a days cruising through the canal? I'm one of the speakers on board, and I'm trying to gauge whether I'll be asked to do a talk on that day (we don't get told of the actual times and dates until we board).

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers,

    Bernie

    Hello Bernie

Hope you have a good cruise

We have just returned from a similar cruise and in answer to your questions

    1. You will need to be on an excursion, but as a speaker on board, often they are taken on excursion as one of the two people they take on each bus. But you better get in touch with Fred Olsen to find out more - if not you will have to book up

    2. The trip Kiel Canal is not a stop - may be just to pick up people who may be coming on board for the travel along the Canal - we had a choir singing in 3 or 4 areas on board

    Hope this helps

  6. Hi Linda

Well done and happy birthday for that trip!

We did jet2jet and was all pay on board, but was not a hardship, we took some food with us, but we also bought on board, which in the big scheme of things was not as expensive as we first thought.

Have a good breakfast, take something to read and the time soon goes. but dont forget to add on the travel time from airport to ship, if its Tenerife, that can be an hour or more

    Have a great time

  7. Just recently returned from a Balmoral Cruise, where we had the drinks package

Not a great choice on the pumps, just Stella and Boddingtons, there were extra in cans or bottles, such as Kent Spitfire, but not the greatest of selections

At dinner and lunch, there was a choice of house red, white or rose, tried them all but nothing special, so used the 50% discount on other nights

The spirits were also house spirits, and you had to watch the mixers as some were included in the package and others were not.

We did use the 50% off over drinks a few times, which seemed the best way
