  1. Hey. Thank you to all in advance for any advice. Pretty much new to Princess. Taking a British Isles cruise May 27th on the regal. As you know its so port intensive so we want some time to rest. There are 3 sea days and I have researched that the Sanctuary can get reserved very quickly on the day of embarkation. My dilemma is that we will be taking an excursion that day out of London to Windsor Castle and likely wont get to ship check in until late in the afternoon. Does it get reserved that quickly? I'm no stranger to tipping to get what I want so maybe thats the route to go when I get to the sanctuary to reserve it if its full?? Anyone have an email to someone on board to help me in advance? Is this even an issue and I wont have a problem??

    Thank you

We had been talking about doing a British Isles cruise for years before COVID hit, but never did because they were so expensive as compared to other European cruises. We did the Med a few times, the Baltic, the Adriatic, the Holy Land, Hawaii, even Australia/New Zealand... all cheaper than British Isles.

COVID completely changed our outlook (not being able to cruise for 2+ years). When we saw the British Isles cruises on the Regal for summer 2024, we went ahead and booked. We are on the June 7 cruise out of Southampton. I have been buried in planning for it the past couple of weeks and I think that we have come up with an amazing touring itinerary for pre-cruise, each port, and post-cruise. I am so excited for this trip! I know that it is something I will remember forever.

So tl;dr is: do it! Seize the moment! You never know if this opportunity will be available again and it is a great cruising destination.

we are going on this cruise May 27th. so we will be disembarking and you will embark. We have been planning like crazy as well. So port intensive. The only port I'm truly having an issue with is Le havre and I think you mistyped. You will be embarking on the 8th of June not the 7th. We are in Le Havre on the 7th which is one day after DDay anniversary. So many tours state they can not accommodate a tour due to the crowds.

Part of booking the transfer is that when disembarking paperwork is passed out, they will ask you your flight information and place you accordingly or you can tell them what bus you want to be on. 3:45 is plenty of time.

Great thank you. I can avoid the private transfer and save a bit of money for the rest of these very expensive excursions.

@tdtanc Last June we opted for the Princess transfer from the port to LHR. They dropped us off right at our terminal. You need to reserve and pay for it before boarding (the earlier the better). It was $59.00 per person and went very smoothly. We sat in front and the driver was entertaining regarding his comments on other drivers. Personally, I would not wait to get on the ship to book the transfer. They can fill up.

Blackberry Cars is very popular. The least expensive would be a Saloon car and is 150 GBP or $191.25 as of today's currency rate. Private transfers are on the spendy side. Or, you can get a cab to the coach station and save even more money.

We took Blackberry Cars once to LHR and shared it with another couple. A third couple was to join us but covid intervened.

Thank you for this info. Do you recall what time the shuttle left for Heathrow? Our flight is not until 3:45pm on Virgin Atlantic out of Terminal 3 on a saturday so I would say as long as we are there by noon all should be fine I would think.

  5. Hey. Thank you so much for this thread. Have a few questions and thanks in advance for the answers.

Arriving June 8th to Southhampton on Regal Princess. Would like to book princess transfer to Heathrow. Flight at 3:45pm.

    1. Was gonna call princess agent and book this pre cruise. Sounds like it is $59 per person. I have onboard credit but it sounds like they can not use that pre cruise. Should I just wait to get on the ship to book to use this credit or do I run the risk of it being full?

    2. Someone mentioned the times for meet up for departures. If you self disembark can you just get an early transfer that easy?

    3. Sounds like I would need to deal with excursion desk on the ship which I usually try to avoid for true logistial answers.

    4. Anyone know of a private transfer that is $150-$200?

I've just rescheduled post cruise transportation to ground.  Rebooked original flight (Vancouver to SFO) to depart from SeaTac and, bought tickets for the Quick Shuttle (curbside Canada Place pickup to SeaTac) rather than trying to take the test once we get to Vancouver.

Makes a long travel day but based on a dozen Alaskan cruises, I do not want to be relying on the ship's WiFi to take a proctored test!

(We are doing a B2B on two different cruise lines with a 10 day land tour between the cruises.  Taking a test before embarking at Vancouver, taking an eMed proctored test in Seward at our AirBnB and then was suppose to take test before our flight out of Vancouver.  Didn't want to buy/pay for another test on this  trip.  Hence, the rescheduling of transportation.)

Question: Simliar scenario here. Finish on Radiance June 3rd. Flight back that day at 5pm. Why do I need to take a emed covid test the day before on the cruise and worry about connectivity right? I can just take it during the day in Vancover prior to arriving at the airport correct when we have good wifi or just our 5G??

You dont need a test to get through Canadian port customs after debarking do you?

It’s always the organizers card. Lots of work goes into it. If your so concerned about your 4/5 points run your own slot tournament.  It is not unethical it’s how it should be

I could be swayed one way or another but Im still lauging at casinocruzgirl's photo with all the cash!! If anyone is right on this subject its her!! 🙂😛

    Happy Easter and Happy Sailing!

Please come back and do a review of the Odyssey...we'll be on her next week.

If you have the time...could you kindly please...find out what the expected number of passengers will be for the April 23rd transatlantic sailing.

    Thank you, 🙂

I  believe half full at 2500

  9. Good Morning. OP here.

Totally my misunderstanding! I had it in my mind that we needed a PCR test 2 days out of the cruise and thats what I stuck with for the wife and I. Simple case of not following instructions which I'm normally very good at!

Just a follow up. From friday around noon both our results from CVS and Walgreens came in just to alleviate anyones concerns about them not getting results back within 48 hours if you are cruising on a sunday. My biggest concern was that the Easter weekend was gonna be the exception.

    Heading out to Odyseey soon.

    God Bless

  10. Guys I want to thank everyone for their awesome ideas. I think a lot of people benefited from this crucial information. I was ready to do any number of these things. The urgent care clinic just called her....at 8:45 pm tonight to give her the results. Negative! I have them printed. A huge sigh of relief. I mean she did pay $200 for this but no matter now. We are all set for tomorrow. We will sleep well tonight! Thank every last one of you. Happy Easter to everyone.

  11. OK currently in panic mode. My wife does not have her results back from an urgent care clinic or walgreens she went to yesterday for the PCR test. Sail on Odyssey tomorrow and there are no port appointments.

    Its Easter weekend!

What the freak are we supposed to do now??

    She had 3 vaccinations.

  12. Could you experienced folks give me some advice please. My wife and I would like to take one of these 6 hour tours the day of embarkation. Major Marine leaves at 11:30 and gets back at 5:30. Should I sweat an 8pm departure on Radiance of the Seas? What is the latest we can actually check in?

    Thanks

    Todd

  13. Hey guys! Thanks for all the info here. I have a cruise booked on Radiance in August. So hard to comit to airfare and booking excursions with independent tour companies with the big "If" they cancel scenario that is before us. Perhaps this needs to be the one time I book them through RCL to ensure easy cancellation.

So hard to know what is gonna happen. Alaska takes months to plan!

    What are the odds.......50/50??
