  1. This has been answered MANY times but here is the answer again.:o You can bring bottled water or soda on board. People do it all the time. It doesn't matter which ship either. For alcohol each person is allowed 1 750m bottle of wine. You can bring more wine but will be charged a corkage fee of $15 for each bottle. Some embarking ports are more strict then others. You never know. Not to be mean but next time do a search on a subject before posting a question. I couldn't tell you how many times this question has been asked.

    Thanks for answering so promply.

I did do a search and even asked for answers from the past year. I did find all the information you have offered me but I was wondering if anyone had first hand experience of recent attempts on DAWN and SUN Princess. I have sailed several times on these ships and in the past they were not so strict but I was wondering how they are these days.

  2. Yes Stephen is not the driver but the manager. I met him because we had such a big group and he joined us for some of our tour. You are safe with using this company.

  3. Hi

We used Stephan's company for an overnight tour in HCMC & a boat tour of Halong Bay this time last year. I can confirm what you have already been told he was efficient and everyone in the group had a wonderful time.

We were 4 Americans who used Stephen at Vietnam Private Tours last April. Stephen arranged our tours to Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi Anh and an overnight trip to Saigon and the Mekong Delta. All his guides were fabulous! They were on time, spoke English well and were very flexible. We especially liked the meals that Stephen arranged for us. Be sure to have Stephen arrange a day in the Mekong Delta, just fabulous! I give Stephen a 10 out of 10 for affordability, service and wonderful tours. We saw so much in Vietnam and learned about the culture, food, history and people. We travel a lot and Stephen was by far the best tour operator we've used anywhere. He even provided us with a SIM card when we arrived in Halong Bay...he was just wonderful!!!

If you have any questions contact me at ldwolff@aol.com

I have used Stephen several times. The first time was for just 6 of us and then the next time I organised a tour for 30 of us. Our whole group raved about the tour. I have met Stephen personally and he is very reliable and trustworthy. Should there be any problems there is never a problem with getting a refund. I would always use him and have full trust in him. His prices are very reasonable. It is the done thing for all tour operators to take a deposit for any tours booked.

  4. Full day I think is 8 hours. How long will you be in port? I would google Patrick Adventures and contact him.

I can't remember his email but I think it's in my home computer. I did the half day and it was great. I hope to do the full day - getting for into the interior and Tahiti Iti in a couple of years. Brahe interior if Tahiti is unlike like anything you have imagined of Tahiti.

Moorea by the way I always rent a car and circle the island making shopping stops, beach stop and lunch. You can rent a car easily for 4 or 8 hours.

There will be plenty of tours a available on the ship also.

The only problem is that we are in Moorea on Easter Friday .... not sure if anything will be open :rolleyes:

  5. We are cruising on Radiance of the Seas and will be stopping the following islands:

    • Moorea
    • Bora Bora - We have a day planned in Bora Bora going to look at the stingrays, black tipped sharks and then going to a private motu for a suckling pig cooked in a pit underground.
    • Papeete
    • Lahania - Maui - We are hoping to do the helicopter tour in Lahania. Any advice on this would be good too.

I was wondering if you could offer any advice on what tours to do in Moorea and Papeete to compliment the others.

We are thinking of doing a 4 X 4 tour on one of the islands, but which one and with which company?

Many thanks for your help in advance

  6. You have just caused me to eliminate Stephen from my list of tour operators. I can't imagine anything worse than a bus with disco lights and a good sound system :-)

That is optional. We asked them to put the lights on and play the music. They would not if you didnt want it. As I said before, they aim to please.

  7. Thank you for the heads up. Stephen seems very accommodating but to get specific details in writing is worse then pulling teeth. He keeps saying dont worry. Our tours are flexible for our clients feel happy!! I can always count on a laugh from his emails. Carryn

And you really dont need to worry. You can take him for his word. The tour is very flexible. He basically hires the vehicle and the staff and then it is up to you what you want to do. They just like some sort of guideline on what it is you want to do.

I had 35 people on the last tour and we changed things (although not a lot they had it well planned) as we went along.

  8. Has anyone used Best Cruises in Vietnam - Stephen. We contacted him for a Halong Bay junk cruise and he has proposed doing all our Vietnam tours. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you Caryn

    Hello Caryn

I think that we may have had correspondence on other threads referring to Best Cruises. If not I can certainly recommend them--Stefan organised for myself & a group of other passengers on Millennium 3 tours in Vietnam. One was the Halong Bay tour you refer to & the others were an overnight to HCMC & a day tour to Hanoi. All tours worked well with good guides who spoke excellent English. Stefan gave good info on each tour's content & everything on the list was covered. My only regret was that we didnt take up his offer to overnight in Hanoi. This would have saved the hassle we experienced on day 2 at Halong Bay in the delay getting a tender from the ship & also reduced the driving time involved in 2 journeys to /from Hanoi in the same day. I recommend that you consider this option if your funds permit.

    Best wishes

    Sue

This is the second time I have used Stephen from Best Cruises. Both times we docked at Phu My for the day. The first time I arranged a tour for 6 of us to go to HCMC. The second time (because the first tour was so good) I arranged a tour for 35 people. This time we visited Vang Tau. Everybody raved about the tour.

I find this company to be very professional, reliable and willing to go the extra mile. Stephen is very efficient in organising a tour to suit your individual needs.

The bus was ready waiting for us when we docked, and it was the best bus on the wharf. It had disco lights and a good sound system which rocked us along on our way back to the ship! Our tour guide was very knowledgable and I would not hesitate recommending Best Cruises to anyone for anything you need in Vietnam.

What a fabulous company to deal with.
