  1. I extend a huge thank you to Roxburgh for a most interesting and factual account of the cruise to Antarctica. I did the cruise on Discovery some years ago and it has brought back many happy memories. I also have good friends, The Cat123, who are on your cruise and it has enabled me to follow their progress too so many thanks for that. I wish you smooth sailing and safe return from your wonderful trip.

  2. We have used the water from the cabin to refill our water bottles on Musica, Opera and Poesia and found it just fine. Like you we have excellent water here at home so I would certainly notice it if it had a strange taste. I seems to vary with each ship if you can get tap water at the dinner table, when you can't I just ask for some ice which melts fairly quickly in the glass and becomes nice iced water. They do not allow you to refill water bottles from the water dispenser at the buffet for obvious health reasons but you can overcome that by filling a couple of glasses and tipping it into your water bottle at the table.

  3. We are at a loss on what to do in Olympia (Katakolon). Can anyone give me some ideas on what they have done in the past? Is this a good port to do a walking tour?

We found another couple on our roll call and together hired a car. Sharing halved the cost and it was such an easy drive to Olympia. We were amazed at the size of the village and found the museum really interesting. If you have time on return a wander through the village at Katakalon is worth while too but really the ruins are not to be missed.

    Enjoy your cruise, Misty

  4. There is a little red train that leaves from the front of the New Museum and does a circuit through the city. PLEASE BE WARNED ;), we asked how long the circuit would take and were told 1 hour - wrong - it took 1 1/2 hours which meant the 1/2 hour we had up our sleeve had gone :( and we had to catch a E20 taxi to be sure of being back at the ship on time. The train ride was not expensive, can't recall exactly how much, but we thoroughly enjoyed the overview of the city or did until anxiety set in  as we watched the time ticking by. Apart from that it is an incredible city and we loved our visit there.

    Have fun, Misty
