Did you pre-book with them, or can you just hop off the ship and rent a car? If I remember correctly last time we rented a car there we were able to just rent it when we got there, but that was years ago.

    Each time we pre-booked.

  2. We were on the Quantum of the Seas in March 2015 on Deck 11 and had the 2 Large Interior Staterooms with Virtual Balcony (11181 and 11183). We like this step-up for a number of reasons: added bathroom to get 5 people ready in the morning or showers before evening meals; extra bed instead of a pullman if we were in a single room (had this setup in a promenade room the Oasis of the Seas); overall space to spread out when in the room. Our 3 children stayed in the 2nd room the boys shared the queen size bed and our daughter was on the pull out couch. I have attached 2 pictures of the room. We have booked the same 2 rooms on Deck 11 on the Anthem of the Seas in March 2019. As others have mentioned, the room steward had the door unlocked and provided a door stop to keep the door open at all times if we wanted to.

  3. We have been twice to Le Galion Beach. As a previous poster mentioned it is sheltered by a reef.

People have mentioned that there is no taxi stand for the return ride so if taking a cab you would need to arrange pickup. We have rented a vehicle twice to go to the beach so this has not been as issue. As a note of safety We were there is 2012 and 2016 both times the 15-20 Gendarmes (French police) were there for a morning workout of beach volleyball and Rugby.

  4. Hi, I am interested in seeing any photos of Interior Connected Stateroom with Virtual Balcony?

    We booked 2 rooms (Deck #11 - 11183 and 11181) back in June 2013 for March 2015.

I have been following ship since RCCL announced it both on Cruise Critic and the Facebook page.

However, since it is a new class of ship, it has been hard to find information.

With the Quantum Class, we like the fact that RCCL is introducing more of the connected rooms at a price point (granted the prices have jumped since 2013) which is affordable to a family of 5.

We were 5 (2 adults, 3 children) in a Promenade room on the Oasis of the Seas in 2012. We managed, it was tight in the room when the sofa bed and pullman were made up but the stateroom attendant was great about getting them away as soon as we left the room. Our first cruise in 2009 on the Magic, we liked the ability to have 2 bathrooms which made it easy to get ready when we were heading out.

Hopefully someone on the transatlantic or the upcoming voyages will be able to share some pictures/information or thoughts before we depart in March?

P.S. I did see the thread on the accessible interior cabins but of course these are larger (256 sq. ft vs 178 sq. ft) of course but it did give some idea of the layout..

    Happy Cruising..Iain

  5. I registered for the tour via the website as well and did not receive a response. After several days I emailed Thenford and received a reply within 5-6 hours. He reforwarded a reply from my original website enquiry but it never made it through to me. In end we are booked for march 2015. Best of luck.

  6. We are going on the Quantum of the Seas (12 day sailing) March 1 - 13, 2015.

We will be driving in from Ottawa, Canada on Feb 28th. We will be driving thru Syracuse (I81,I80 and then either I280 or I287 to I78) We would like to be close enough to have a short drive (20 to 40 minutes max) on Saturday morning and leave our vehicle at the the port for the duration of the cruise.

We are 5 (2 adults and 3 kids (7, 10, 13). It would be nice to have a pool to relax in and parking included at the hotel. We are not really planning to leave the hotel once we arrive on Friday night and will likely eat supper before checking into the hotel.

I have a looked at a number of hotels and I am considering the following 2 options.

    - SpringHill Suites by Marriott near Newark Airport - CAD $192.05 (Free Cancellation, includes breakfast, WIFI and parking)

    - I know there are other properties near the Jersey Gardens Mall which seem to be popular on the boards.

    - Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Newark Airport

    - Residence Inn Newark Elizabeth/Liberty International Airport.

    - Embassy Suites Elizabeth-Newark Airport - CAD $252.48 taxes in (Free Cancellation, includes breakfast). I know the Embassy Suites has additional charges for Wifi and parking. Making it more in $280 range. We have stayed at the Embassy Suites in Montreal and the full breakfast is worth the money and the quality of the hotel is great.

We are looking for anything between 140 - 250 CAD would be the max.

    Any advice would be helpful.
