  1. We booked a mini guarantee on our last transatlantic. 2 days before sailing we were upgraded and assigned to a Club Class mini. We were excited to try it at no additional cost. To be fair we are elite, so some of the perks were of no consequence as we got them already.  So to us the real benefits were the two 1/2 bottles of wine and the dining.  The wine, no biggie, not a deal breaker either way.  The dining, was nice, but... The service was wonderful. The "extra" dish was hit or miss. But where we ran into a problem was it's limitation.  We ended up meeting and becoming friend with another couple onboard. We played trivia together, went to cocktail hour and really enjoyed their company.  Halfway through the cruise they asked us to join them for dinner. Do we say, oh no, we'd rather eat in our special dining room alone or do we join them and enjoy their company.  Of course we chose to join them. We had a lovely time eating with them for the rest of the cruise, had excellent service and meals, as well. So the moral of my story is, Club Class is nice, but to me, not worth paying extra for.  As I said the service was excellent, the food was comparable to the MDR, with the exception of the "extra" dish, which sometimes we chose and sometimes not. I'll gladly accept a free upgrade if one comes my way, but I would not put the extra money into it.

That's great!! Was it the category you booked or better?  🙂

It was the category we booked, which is fine with me.  No upgrade, but I booked what I'd be happy with.  We always book guarantees, (29th cruise), but this is the longest we've gone without an assignment.

Don't worry....enjoy your cruise.....you will not go hungry.

I'm not sure what you are replying to, I am not at all concerned about going hungry.  I was simply asking about how the reservation system works on anytime dining.  This will be my 29th Princess cruise and I have never been hungry on a cruise yet.  We have had anytime dining and stood in line, as I said, I was wondering about the reservation system, not where or when I'd get fed

  5. Just got off the Grand yesterday. I had the coffee package on my cruise card. The register would NOT allow me to use the coffee package on the milkshakes and wanted me to charge the $5 to my card. I declined.

I also had the soda and more package. Just went to the bar and had them make me a "shake".

What did you ask for at the bar to get a "shake"? I assume it could it be a Boozy shake if you have sip'n sail?

  6. Yesterday received an upsell offer Mini Suite to full Suite for our upcoming 14 day TA on the Crown. It is $1129 per person. I would like a Suite, but he additional is too much.

Sent from my SM-T560NU using Forums mobile app

We got the same offer for the same cruise, too rich for my blood too! Guess we'll just have to suffer in our mini;);). See you there!

  7. We always book a guarantee and they few times we haven't been thrilled with our cabin location, I've looked on line to see if there are any other cabins open in our assigned category (or lower) and if there are, have called the agent and had no trouble getting switched to another cabin in that category. Mostly I'm just happy my cabin is on the ship!

  8. We are sailing on the Crown in November. if I go to the Princess website and click on deck plans for the Crown, I am asked if I am sailing before August 4, 2018 (Already past) or after August 4, 2018. Does anyone know if changes were made to the ship? Did it go into dry dock? If so, what changes were made? Just curious if anything is new. thanks!

  9. Thanks for that info!

Yes, we are in the traditional fixed seating dining room. I may just remove the celebration from our booking so we don't have to worry about it.

Or keep in on and share the cake with your table. They will give you a "regular" dessert too if you want. If you share the special cake slice will be small enough to have another. Enjoy the celebration!!

  10. I tried that once. I had leftover bottles from the mini bar. Put them in my suitcase, in my toiletry bag. My husbands bag came to the room right away, no sign of mine for hours, finally got it around dinner time. (we were one of the first to board). When the luggage arrived, there was a sticker on it saying alcohol and it was obvious it had been looked through. The toiletry bag saved me, they didn't find it and it was still there, but it seems there is some sort of detection device in play.

  11. For those of you who have the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card, do you still get Princess (or other) travel insurance? We are thinking of getting the card and it looks like the coverage for my husband and I is fine, my specific concern is about my elderly mother. If she should take ill, would I be covered for trip cancellation, if necessary? I know with Princess I am (cancel for any reason). Thanks for any input you have to offer.

  12. This is the response I just got from Princess about my post of FB about the water price hike: Hi Nancy, we apologize for the pricing error. We will be refunding the price difference to guests who purchased the water bottle package over the past day, and the price will be updated in the Cruise Personalizer shortly. We're sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

  13. We are doing a British Isles cruise in late May on Princess. Stops are: Guernsey, Cork (don't care about kissing the stone), Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Orkney Islands, Invergordon, Edinburgh and le Havre (will do a Normandy tour).

We enjoy and are willing to do a fair amount of walking. Which stops can best be done on our own? And which stops are best done by tour?

Thanks in advance for your insights and advice!
