The expiration date for the proctored Abbott BinaxNow tests that I linked to in the original post and received this week (last week in December, 2021)  is November of 2022. Plenty of time to use them.

Thank you so much for your information. Mine just got delivered.  I feel better knowing I have these as backup as I am flying into the port two days before cruise!  If I can’t get a test appointment, I have these!

  3. I recently received an invite to bid on a cabin upgrade. I am interested in upgrading to the Haven on the Encore.  I did a mock booking, which shows that the Haven Spa Balcony is sold out.  However, when I go through the Advantage invitation link, it allowed me to enter a strong bid on the Haven Spa Balcony cabin.  Our cruise is not til June, so I suppose I could wait it out for a bit.  Has anyone has this experience?

  4. We are thinking about bidding on a Penthouse balcony on the GEM Feb, 2019.  It looks like this category has both forward and aft penthouses available, and it doesn't appear that you can select a preference in the bidding process.  We had an aft penthouse on the SUN a few years ago.  We loved it, except....that 10 minutes out on the balcony someone from the Great Outdoors flicked their lit cigarette, and it landed in my husband's lap and burned his leg!

I was just reviewing a spreadsheet that a cruise critic member posted today regarding smoking areas on each NCL ship.  I just want to be sure that smoking in the Great Outdoors is no longer permitted before placing a bid!

  5. Yesterday I saw a great price for an aft penthouse on the Pearl for 2018 :D. I called my PCC, and the cabin I wanted was available. Then came the time to discuss the deposit. I have two future cruise rewards and wanted to use one of them. He said great....how do you want to pay for the remainder of the deposit? He told me that as of March 30, 2017, NCL changed their deposit terms. My deposit would be $1500, and the balance after the future cruise reward was $1250. I didn't want to shell out that kind of money for a cruise in so far in the future, so I decided to book an aft mini suite. I am hoping that in the coming months there will come an offer to upgrade to the penthouse but if not, I will be happy with the mini suite. The reason I initially bought the cruise rewards was to use them for suite deposits. Oh well....it was a great deal while it lasted!

My PCC mentioned that an email went out on March 30, 2017 to NCL customers, but I didn't get one! Did any of you get that "wicked" email? Wished I had booked last weekend!:loudcry:

  6. We will be on a repo cruise that disembarks in Boston. We live in southeastern CT. We are thinking our best scenario is to rent a car for one day to drive home. I realize there will be a drop off charge but it will most likely be more cost and time effective to do it this way! Does anyone have any tips or info about the closest rental agency to Black Falcon? I looked at a page on the internet that says because Enterprise can't pick up at the pier, they will take the taxi cost off your bill!

    Thanks!!

  7. We have a reservation at The Drury Inn for April 16 - 19, 2015 for $533 + tax. Also the Hampton Inn & Suites Convention Center was also available for $495 tax included and seems to be very close to the port. Try booking with the hotels' websites. Sometimes I find that hotels will book further out than the booking websites.

    Good luck!

Edit: The prices are totals, not per night!!

  8. We are also going to be in an aft balcony, 0266. In your photo it appears the shower has a hand held shower head. Is that correct?

Also, did you have much soot on the balcony?

    Thanks!

Here is a larger pic to give you a better idea. The showerhead is hand held.

Yes there was soot on the balcony at times. We just never sat down without putting a towel down on the loungers and chairs. On day 1 just before sailaway...someone above us threw a lit cigarette overboard and the wind blew it back onto my bf's arm. Not a great way to start a cruise, but we didn't let it ruin our cruise! In fact, we have the same aft cabin (9277) reserved for our March, 2014 cruise.

In case anyone is interested,,,,here is a pic of the sink area.

  9. Hi, I'll ask my questions again since I think they got lost in the feed, were the hairdryers still the old hose type? Did the TV's get replaced with flat screens yet? Where was your favorite spot to hang out? What about best bar? How was the smoke onboard?

We were on this sailing as well. We were in an aft balcony and had the dryer on the wall thing. Ours did not have a lot of power so I was glad I had my travel blow dryer packed!

Tv's are flat screens but not large. Unfortunately I didn't take a pic!

Our favorite place was our balcony and the observation lounge.

  10. Sonic buffalo,

I have been looking through your pics on photobucket from your link. Great photos!! We are going on this cruise Wednesday (10/30) and greatly appreciate reading your comments and pics! Could you please tell me which beach you went to in pics 215 to 218. It looks like it could be in Curaçao and possibly Mambo Beach?
