You might be selling yourself short saying, "fully half of the activities were spa, stores, or art gallery related".  If you exclude card and board games, its more like 3/4 of the activities--at least during daytime hours--are the categories you listed.  Here's a sample HAL sea day activity listing:

    https://rogerjett-photography.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/NS2021-WW-Day-06-Sea-Day.pdf

Why would anyone schedule the Trivia in the middle of early dining at 6:30 PM according to the above schedule. ????????

AS activities and entertainment declined on HAL, they seem to make it worse by scheduling things for the staff convenience , not the paying passenger.

Sorry to vent my frustration as I remember what a great experience it was to sail HAL ten years ago !!

    They do trivia daily.

Entertainment all depends on the venues the ship has that you are on. The Pinnacle class ships have at least 4 venues for music.

Just got off a Princess cruise with the ships theater show cast with 6 piece band,  a piano bar singer, a  string duo,  a guitarist/singer, a 5 piece group with two singers, a female soloist. one of theses was always playing in thr reception/atrium area from noon on. There was always at least three venues to choose from from 5 PM on. Yes, I realize it was a much larger ship with twice the passengers.

There were 4 Trivia venues daily including progressive Trivia on sea days.

    Always something to do !

When I was last on HAL, there was only one choice at a given hour. Has that changed ?

  3. I stopped sailing HAL after 9 straight cruises when the OPRAH ERA came on board. Found the entertainment declining in both quality and diversity and quantity.

Showing movies as the main theater entertainment didn't work for me. And if you did not feel like the Lincoln Center venue was your cup of tea, there was no other Music venue to go to.

That was about 5 years ago, Has anything changed, do they do Trivia daily or only on sea days, other activities ????

I look forward to any updates on today's HAL shipboard activities.

    Thank you

Not challenging your suggestion other than it calls for two separate shuttles. Uber / Lyft is a direct, one trip option that is also reasonably priced.  And the OP is trying to get from the MIA airport to a FLL hotel - not coming from the port of Miami, although your suggestion would be the same.

Stand corrected on cruiseport, thank you .  If money is a consideration, the double van shuttle  could be a viable option over Uber.

You were on a wait list, no money exchanged hands, as it were.  What are you looking for Celebrity to do?

Simply go through their Waitlist at a given point in time and contact me (potential customer if you prefer) and say we now have a cabin and you need to pay or your reservation is being canceled as there are no vacant cabins.   Just plain old  "Good Customer Communications "

    It's not complicated !

You're not the customer because you did not pay the fare.  Did you make a deposit?

I was registered  with a wait list confirmation number. Nowhere in the process was I asked to make a deposit. I was dealing directly with Celebrity. I do believe I should have been regarded as a customer having a confirmation number and I had and would have used FCC to pay .

  7. I as wait listed on April 18th Constallation  TA for a solo inside cabin. A week ago I called with my wait list reservation number and was told that it was cancelled for non payment. I asked why I was not contacted about payment and was told it was my fault for not calling them sooner.7I thought I was the customer, but apparently not !

I have never seen that and I book solo all the time.  Did you book it through the website or by calling Celebrity?  That would be insane,

If true, go and book for two and drop the second person at the port.

Yes, I called Celebrity directly and they confirmed that was the price for a single. All available single cabins were taken but I could be Wait Listed should they become available.

Last week I went on as a double cabin request and there were 33 inside cabins to choose from on one deck alone at the $1098.00 rate.

I am thinking of getting a blow up doll ! ?

  9. Can anyone help me understand that on a TA Constellation  Cruise on an inside cabin the price per person is $1,089.00 per person double occupancy, but the price for single occupancy  is $3,495.oo, three times the individual double occupancy rate. I am willing to pay twice the double occupancy rate, but (3) three times to me is  gouging !

Any logical explanations would be appreciated besides   "They can ! "

  10. Checked the website for my cruise on the Millenium Feb 21th. Hundreds of cabins are unsold (shows availability). Will they sail if there are only 500 on a 2,000 plus person ship , must be a breakeven number or are they locked into paying crew and other costs no matter what ?? Any cash flow better than no cash flow in the cruise industry ??

Several years ago there was a post by someone showing photos of the outside of an S-class ship. There were many different views & different cabins were circled showing their location.  The poster was very knowledgeable about the various cabins & the post was very long. I haven’t been able to find the post, so if anyone can provide the link I would appreciate it. Thank you.

If you go on line with a major travel agent and bring up any booking of the ship you are sailing on, click on Deck Plans you can view location of any cabin on any deck by number with also a description of each cabin amenities, forward, mid ship or aft.

  12. 48 hours before sailing with flying in to Florida makes PCR test results iffy.  Must get test on Saturday to meet test window.

Would think a 72 hour window would be more logical ?????

Did a Norwegian cruise in late November and they pretest before boarding at Pier.  i.e. get Covid on Sunday Flight to Ft Lauderdale a possibility ??

Any iron clad solutions out there ???

    Help !

That was the sequence at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on October 24 (well, not the Haven part, for me). There, the testing is done in terminal 90 but you drop bags at terminal 88 and then return to terminal 88 for check-in. It's prudent to make whatever bag you keep with you to be light and easy to carry, possible a backpack or shoulder bag, not only because of walking between the two terminals, but also because of having to stand for a long time at almost every stage of the procedure.

Is there Wheelchair assistance for those that cannot walk distances required ??  between Terminals #88 to #90 to #88 ??

As I've stated in several threads I think MSC has run into an issue with hurriedly selling these policies after final payment has been made.  Hopefully MSC can provide the policy certificate soon.  I have no idea if the one they gave you is "real" or not.  I do know that's an old MSC policy that has been used for a while, perhaps 2011 based on the date code at the bottom of the pages and disclaimers/state sections.

To be very clear, I already purchased my independent Covid Policy coverage at time of booking after I was quoted an MSC insurance price by my TA.  They are accepting my paid for policy only if I pay the additional  $100 and $150 total $250 surcharge.  I can't get my Premium back., so I am paying almost twice the price for SAME coverage. It's outragous  !

  16. I always buy travel insurance when booking cruises with better coverage and generally lower cost independently,  not the offered cruise company insurance.

Now after final payment for two B to B cruises ( 4 night Med. pre 16 night Trans-Atlantic cruise to Miami.

Even though I have superior Covid covered insurance, I am now required to purchase  "MSC Covid Protection Services " at a cost of $100 for 4 night portion and $150 for  the TA. portion

I am stuck and find that my Travel Agent could care less !!!

This is a warning to people contemplating MSC cruise or checking this out before you make your final payment.

That $100 for the 4 night cruise adds 15% to what is no longer any bargain.

They were actually only selling balconies with free balcony promo. Is anyone booked in inside or Oceanview?

I am booked Inside Cabin on TA from Barcelona on Nov.2nd to Miami.

Last week I saw a Balcony Cabin for 4 days preceding the above Seashore  Cruise for $600 US and grabbed it, The price for an Inside Cabin was over $900 US for same 4 days meaning the Insides were at close to capacity as you could also take the TA from Genoa to Miami.

This begs the question of capacity  (non issue?)and its effect of landing on USA soil in Miami without taking a "TEST" cruise  ??????

Sorry, but you are confusing what would normally be the case,  and what might be the circumstances in the current environment.

For example,  in the Canaries, you are allowed in, if you can show proof of being fully vaccinated.  However,  you cannot re-enter the UK without having a negative test 48 hours prior to arrival.

What is not clear,  is how this requirement affects cruise ships, due to the time scales involved.

The issue lies with the UK government,  not P&O.

Don't have to think about now.  P & O just canceled my booking saying it is too complicated to accept booking from non UK residents !!!  My fourth cruise canceled in last 6 months.
