I sailed on her i believe in 2000 or 2001 on a 3 night cruise to key west from port manatee. My wifes father crossed the atlantic on her as olympia and immigrated to canada from germany.

my name is Tim Aurich and i am from germany. i was a winesteward on the Star from late '89 until middle of '90.

A few years back i took a cruise on a Carnival ship and i recognized the maitre'd he was a former waiter from the Star. I remember all the girls on the Star going crazy in New York when michael j. fox brought his mom to the ship. Memories of the party when we were sailing empty to new orleans for the superbowl from ft.lauderdale. our little blackjack table that we were running in the cabins.....a few guys still owe me money....you know who you are :o). $1 beers in the crewbar. Bottles of linie aquavit on the officer's tables at captains dinner. the passenger who had filet mignon every night who i knew from cunard princess where she did the same thing. power failure for 2-3 hours. bomb threat in st.maarten didnt get back to the ship until about 10p. got all buzzed at the beach bar and still had dinner service. and many more...fond memories.... and the star song as cheesy as it might be brings tears to my eyes,,,,,,
