I’m using a platinum gift. Since this suitcase didn’t have the pouches I decided to use the toiletry bag. I actually have some I don’t use. My stepfather is big on them and I think it gets under his skin that I don’t bring one to New Orleans. So he buys me one every year. Or maybe

he just keeps forgetting he bought me one.

As mentioned, the Solarium (on all RCCL ships) is adults only.  You pay for no venues on RCCL as they are all complimentary, although suite guests have private areas dedicated to them. As Diamond, you will also have access to the Crown Lounge on deck four for bar service and hours d'oeuvres nightly during the cocktail hours. You also will have 4 complimentary drink coupons loaded on your SeaPass card daily for use in the Crown Lounge or anywhere else, anytime, on the ship except the Bionic Bar.

There are two outside bars on the ship - Lime and Coconut (on decks 14 & 15) and Solarium Bar (not outdoor but part of the Solarium).  Here's a list of the bars on Odyssey:

    BIONIC BAR

    BOLEROS

    CROWN & COMPASS

    SCHOONER BAR

    SOLARIUM BAR

    THE LIME & COCONUT

As an Eagles fan, you forgot to list Playmakers.   😮

Not sure too many get fall school breaks.  October 14 is Columbus Day and kids have that off but that is the week before you are considering.  We have sailed from Bayonne in that timeframe because it can be cheaper.  There are always kids but certain weeks can just be bad out of Bayonne, like Jersey Week and Yeshiva Week.

By the time the NJEA (Jersey Week) takes place, the Symphony will be on its way to homeport in Miami and the Odyssey won't be in Bayonne for another week.  Plus, Election Day is Nov. 5, so that's a good week for the kiddos to be yanked out of school for a cheaper cruise.

  4. I'll never understand people's praises of the "pizza" onboard Carnival.   I was just on the Legend (the sailing before the bridge collapse) and gave it another shot even though I swore off it about 8 years ago.  Waited 20 minutes for it, because the server would always walk to the back oven room for EVERY order,  took one bite and left the rest of the slice on the buffet table. BTW, the Deli went way downhill too.  So, I have to concur with the posters who feel the food has suffered a big decline.

Why is carnival is the only cruise with this problem? Royal and Norwegian does cruises out of Texas and NYC with the drink package working on embarkation day

Carnival is also the only cruise line that doesn't allow their drinking package to be used on their private island, not to mention it's also the only line to limit the number of alcoholic beverages per day.

Please don't blame NY. It's Carnivals decision not to offer Cheers out of NY on day one. NCL's drink package starts as soon as you board the ship. Of course you have to pay the NYC sales tax.

It wasn't my intent to blame NY, it was a nod toward the person who was citing this as an example of Texas limiting freedoms.

Truly some of the dumbest laws/rules on the books. Especially coming from such states like Texas that love to claim they have so much "freedom". 🤣

    What an oxymoron.

If that's the case, then that freedom loving state/city of New York has the same protocol,

Carnival, like many in the travel industry, didn't expect the "revenge travel" bubble. They expected people to be hesitant to travel after COVID. When they needed capacity ASAP, they had to get ships ASAP and that basically meant they just scratched COSTA off the side of the ship and wrote in CARNIVAL.

And didn't even replace the funnel.

I just read a notice from my FB group that the Legend lost power off the NC coast.  They got the power back but the ship wasn't moving.   Anybody else hear or read anything regarding this?   I'm hopefully on the next week's sailing.

Deflecting to Carnival isn't a reason for Royal's problems.

But maybe someday the thread will get back to Carnival and small ships and the Gargantuan of the Seas threadjackers can move on.

As Carnival's XL ships exceed 180,000 gross tonnes.   You really DO have an uncanny bias.

They need to look to someone. I see RCCL has already canceled the inaugural cruise or two of Star of the Seas. Could RCCL be having trouble with financing?

Princess (Carnival corp.) has cancelled multiple cruises on several ships, namely the newest Sun Princess.  And with RCL selling at over $100/share more than Carnival, it doesn't appear that RCL is any worse off financially than CCL.

Yes, RCCL is looking to follow Carnival and some smaller builds.

LOL   Trust me, RCCL isn't looking to Carnival for inspiration for ship design.
