We always listened to the muster instructions and made sure to actually know how to get to the station from any point on the ship. I am a firm believer in hope for the best but be consider the worse. This was before Concordia capsized. One thing we've added to our luggage and must have are small LED flashlights that we carry on us or in our backpack at all times. Also if something does occur or if something is abnormal get to the muster station. A little preparation could be the difference between life and death.

We actually called the shuttle guy while we were still on the ship. We did the self assist and got off the ship, and went through customs and by the time we got outside they were there.

If you do one of the hotel park/sleep/cruise you can get the drivers business card and call when you come back and they will bring you back to the hotel. It's like $15 per person I believe. We've done that the past two years and it's been pretty nice. The hotels also include breakfast in their price.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden Inn near the airport (Doral) for the park and shuttle to the port. Both hotels are nice and in a decent part of town. They are about 8 to 10 miles from the port. The shuttle is included to the port but not from the port. The price for the return shuttle was $14 per person. Take the shuttle a taxi is about $45. Parking is included in the package, although both hotels have free parking on site. FYI the Hilton Garden Inn is at the end of the runway and planes come in right on top of it.
