  1. Merry Christmas Everyone! :goodvibes

'Twas the night before Christmas, and far out at sea

Our vessel was sailing, as smooth as could be

The stockings were hung from the balcony chairs

With hope that St. Nicholas soon would be there

The children were nestled all snug in their uppers

Having just settled down from a Christmas Eve supper

And ma and myself, we were covered in aloe

A bit too much sun, in a pool, warm and shallow

When up in the sky, there arose such a clatter

I leapt from my bed to see what was the matter

To the sliding glass door, I flew like a flash

Well, more like a saunter, and less like a dash

And what to my skeptical eyes should appear

But a great shiny sleigh, and eight flying reindeer

They circled our ship, from starboard to port

As the moon lit the driver, a jolly old sort

Who called to his team, in a happy retort

"Now Dasher, now Dancer," so on and so forth

We raced through our cabin and into the hall

To the very top deck, in time for us all

To be awed by the sight of Old Santa's sleigh

As he lightly touched down, by the midnight buffet

With a bundle of goodies thrown over his back

He rose in the air and dropped down the smokestack

Santa went straight to work, and later we learned

He found every child's cabin, from the bow to the stern

Insides and oceanviews, balconies and suites

Santa filled every stocking, with toys and with treats

Until all his deliveries had been handled with care

Then he noted he still had a minute to spare

So he surfed the wave rider, with nary a fall

While Dasher and Dancer scaled the rock-climbing wall

And Prancer, who had always been fond of the cold

Tried the ice-skating rink, a sight to behold

And then with a whistle, Santa summoned his team

And he bade us farewell, silent nights and sweet dreams

And I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of view

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good cruise.

  2. First time in Mexican Riviera. December. We will be in PV from 9-9. Our Rhythms of the Night excursion begins at 3:15. Looking for ideas for the morning. Would it be warm enough to swim / snorkel in a.m.? Or best to just explore the port? If so, ideas for some local flavor / culture for about 3 hours? Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.

    Get a massage!

  4. Am looking to do a Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco cruise through the Panama Canal in late February-early March 2017. This includes a 8 am to 5 pm tendered stop in Cabo San Lucas. It would be on Sunday, March 12. This would be our first time for visiting Columbia, Panama Canal, Central America, Mexico, etc. From many friends who have visited there, we have heard great things on Cabo, but we will be there only for a short time period.

Any special secrets, ideas, suggestions, experiences, etc., to share as to where is best to feed our interests in history, photography, nature, sampling the people and character of this area, etc.?? Just doing too much of the usual tourist stops/shopping is not our priority and/or interest. Nor is the "beach-scene" our top priority.

I have been told by my travel agent that going north of Cabo gets out of the typical tourist things and offers the potential to see more of a genuine Mexico experience. There are several good ship excursion options that we are considering. And being a Sunday when we will be here, does that affect our options and potentials?

Given our limited time here during this one day, doing a private tour might not be as much of priority or that available. Or, should that be very important to do in order to see more, lessening the crowds, waiting for folks to unload and load on the bus, etc. Looking forward to the smart sharing of any good, unique ideas. And, love to read any and all key photo tips for this special part of the world. Will reading more through the various earlier posts on this CC board.

THANKS for the help! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

From our Jan. 25-Feb. 20, 2015, Amazon River-Caribbean combo sailing over 26 days that started in Barbados, here is the link below to that live/blog. Lots of great visuals from this amazing Brazil river and these various Caribbean Islands (Dutch ABC's, St. Barts, Dominica, Grenada, etc.) that we experienced. Check it out at:

Cabo is west coast Cancun..no rusticness at all... there is a Walmart and Costco... however you can ride camels and have wonderful food and drink!

  5. Manzanillo or Mazatlan? What do you recommend?

Our Cruise has a "Beach Resort Getaway" in Manzanillo....says.. Tucked away on the tranquil cove the Resort will be your idyllic tropical getaway.

I am just wondering if we should book that or go with a hotel day pass?!?! We do want some beach time too and I have a 5 YO.

    THANKS!:D

Watch the movie 10...Take a cab to Las Hadas...have lunch at Palma's restaurant...walk to defines bar which is in the movie...hang by the beach or walk next door to Karmina palace and get a massage...then cab back to ship...you can also first take cab to Karmina eat there and then walk over to Las Hadas...give gate guard a couple of bucks and tell them you are going to eat at palmas restaurant...

  6. Overall, we had great time... food was very good...breakfast was easy for us..omelette station order then we added breads and pastries...sat overlooking aft pool on deck 15...gave omelette order to server and they brought the orders to us with coffee...nice..

Lunch was eaten everywhere on the ship...gelato in the piazza.. horizon for entrees and trident grill for hamburgers...Dinner was done the same way..we chose not to eat in MDR or specialty restaurants as just wanted to be with whomever we wanted to meet..

Entertainment was also very good Kumari guitarist played 60's music. Mariachis were authentic and played requests....poolside music was very danceable...crooners bar was comfortable and piano man rocked...adagio bar very cozy... Skywalker was so so...anyway no problem being entertained..

The only issues revolved around uneven service from cabin steward the first couple of days but it was all straightened out and he was very attentive the rest of the cruise...also the bathroom was a bit small for us..smallest balcony room and shower was butt close!...would recommend minisuite or full suite!

Internet was very reliable and princess at sea app makes it efficient to check your bill daily and see lists of activities on both our tablets..yayyyy Princess!

The ports were appealing...though 3 ports in a row can be exhausting...just pace yourselves and you will do fine!

Okay, folks...get out there and cruise!

  8. Cruise director is Peter Tredgett who does morning show explaining activities during the day..

Last night was formal night...about 1/3 dress up...the rest of us did casual chic or casual whatever...

Santa arrived for photo ops with all of us and our kids...in atrium area deck 7...very nice idea!

Captain's party was at 7pm...free drinks and nibbles..the Lin family won most days on Princess cruise 1736 days!..nice get together!

Thursday night football was on MUTS...the Raiders lost to the Chiefs...nice option for us guys..

Travel tip...Cabo is very hot and if you do much walking you will be exhausted for on board activities...suggest you go easy at this port like a whale or arches tour..there is so much on the Ruby to do that you want to be awake..for instance we missed balloon drop at 11am which we love but too many beers with chips and salsa followed by a few margaritas got us sleepy too early...oh well, next cruise we will do better😀😁😂😊
