  1. I went to Facebook and asked John Heald and here was his response so that the next person who has this question can find the answer! 🙂

"We still have the mason jar available in the Pig&Anchore bars.

    Mason jar with cocktail: $29.00

    Mason Jar with beer: $20.00

    Empty mason jar: $11.00

Cocktail refill of the jar: $22.00

Beer refill of the jar: $ 12.00

VIFP benefit – beverage coupon covers the refill of the beer, but for the cocktail refill the price difference will be charged."

  2. I have one of the wonderful 32 oz mason jars from the Pig and Anchor from a previous sailing.

I see that the refills for $12 beers and $20 cocktails are still on the menu. Has anyone actually done this recently? I've heard rumors that they no longer sell the mason jars so they are no longer offering the refills. I don't want to haul the mason jar to the ship if it will not be an option to use it.

Second mason jar refill question - if they DO allow refills would I be able to use my platinum free drink for a refill?

Thanks for all of your experience and expertise!!!

No.  It is an industrial port and you are not permitted to walk into town from the port.  You need to use the shuttle bus if you're not going on a paid excursion.

Then I think I'll call the shuttle bus a "paid excursion" as well. 🙂

Why not just pre-purchase the gratuities - what's the benefit of prepurchasing OBC?

Great question - the reason is that I plan on using some of the OBC that was given to us by HAL and our travel agent when we get on board towards gratuities, but it isn't enough to cover all of them and I can't access those until we are actually on the ship. And this way we are saving 10% because of the AARP value gift cards. 🙂

  5. I have a AARP giftcard that I used to purchase Shipboard credit for my upcoming cruise. I was thinking about buying another giftcard so that all of my gratuities could be covered once I board.

Before I buy another $500 of shipboard credit, I just wanted to verify that I could use this for gratuities.

I would hate to buy the shipboard credit and then NOT be able to use it for gratuities.

    Thank you for your knowledge!

  6. First Celebrity cruise, I know that each person can bring on 2 bottles of wine on a 7 day cruise. We don't have the drink package, so I just wanted to clarify if this means we can bring on 8 bottles total for a B2B?  That seems crazy!!! Thank you for the 411!!

  7. Hi everyone!  I have a 24 hour hold on a Solstice sailing with my travel agent. I asked them how it was charged, and they said that the charge goes directly through Celebrity, and will show up that way on my credit card bill.

Will this offer (which I have added to my AmEx card already) work if I pay through my travel agent?

I ask because they are offering an additional $200 on board credit that the celebrity website is not offering for my cabin.

Thank you SO much for any information!

  8. I have cellular and data in Mexico, but need to submit a few assignments and attend a zoom meeting on 2 of the sea days while on the Panorama out of Long Beach.

I definitely don't want to prepay for the entire week at $14.45 per day for my 7 day cruise.

Has anyone purchased a single day pass on their cruise? If so, how much did the single day cost?

Thank you SO much for your 411!!

@cruisingteachers4, I am curious if your trip was cancelled or not?  Sounds like we are on possibly same itinerary, just later dates. We start on Z-Dam on June 29th and off at Skagway to do our land tour which is Whitehorse, Dawson, Fairbanks, Double Denali and then Anchorage and then southbound on NA on July 10th at Whittier.

We are currently driving to LAX for our flight tomorrow morning to Vancouver! We’ve completed our VeriFLY, ArriveCAN, and checked in to our flight with negative Covid tests in hand. We’re very excited, but still a bit worried after another cruiser posted that only 17 out of 33 on their land portion tested negative and were able to join the southbound NA. So, fingers crossed!!

I don’t think they need to make up rules. As it is we rely on both the CDC, US government and the Canadian government and that should be sufficient. Those who are very worried should travel independently

Personally, we don’t mind taking a test every day if it means that we can travel again!!
My daughter attends UCLA, and they test twice weekly. Quick and easy.

My only concern is what are the steps put in place if we test positive in a remote area, such as Dawson or Denali? It will definitely be an adventure!!
