36. Was a good friends honeymoon, after that I was hooked.

I booked caribbean blue charters ((340) 690-2583 • caribbeanblueboatcharters@gmail.com • boatrentalsvi.com) from St. Thomas. It was a 35' Marlin and should be able to take 8 adults.

It's easy to get to JVD...

....BUT St. Thomas is US Virgin Islands, JVD is Brittish Virgin Islands, so you will have to pay a custom fee.

As we were going to Tortola the next day we went to JVD from Tortola and did snorkeling at St. John from St. Thomas.

We stopped at Sandy Spit which is a small Island next to JVD.

I was in St. Marrten earlier this year. The hurricanes’ damaged was massive. It will be years before this beautiful island reinvents itself. Many beaches no longer exist. Numerous boats are still submerged around marines. Some hotels/resorts have reopened with private beach areas, though. The ‘airport’ beach and bar thankfully are open.

Sad to hear of the massive destruction to a great amount of the island. Maho Beach and bar were not destroyed? That is great news.

Onboard the cruise ships is Oceaneer's Club/Lab. For ages 3-12. It's open, basically, from 9:00 am to midnight. You can sign your granddaughter into the Club at any time, for however long you wish (as long as she's willing to remain there).

 

There are Open House hours where you can accompany her into the Club to participate with her in the activities.

 

There's no private childcare (babysitting) available.

Just got back from Disney World with my granddaughter and Now she is asking for a Disney Cruise for her 5th Bday coming up later this year. Just wondering if Disney has childcare and how that works, thinking I might want a few hours to myself for whatever. I am 45.

I’d stay on the ship and take the kid to the water park. Nassau is the pits.
