  1. Hi all.  We are planning a last minute Day Pass in Cozumel.  We are looking for something on the quiet side and we definitely need shade. All inclusive is fine with us but doesn't need to be.  A pool would be great as well.  Paradise Beach with a daybed for shade would have been nice but the daybeds are all booked.  Anyone have any experience with the Westin? Thank you!

  2. I am so so out of practice on thinking about all of the details before booking! it has been way too long since we last cruised and forgot to think about sun exposure on the balcony.  We are in an Aqua Sky Suite #10212 on deck 10 of Apex.  Fingers crossed there is an overhang to provide shade? Thank you for any advice!

  3. Just in case anyone was looking for this room/category. Not sure how booked up it is but thought I would post just in case. Never had an Owner's Suite before but we were splurging for our 20th wedding anniversary. Turns out our daughter's Parents' Weekend at her first year in College is during the cruise so needed to cancel.

We actually ended up completely changing our plans and we now are going on a Land based vacation to St. John instead. We went on a day trip there during our last Royal cruise and fell in love with St John. Have not done a land based vacation in quite some time so looking forward to changing it up a bit.

  4. To help make the pull out sofa more comfortable, ask for an egg crate topper. I did that and found the comfort to be just fine....slept like a baby. It would be a good idea to request this in advance of your sailing as I have heard they can run out. Just send a message to the concierge with that request. Many times the concierge will email you a week or two in advance of the cruise introducing themselves and you can respond to that. If they do not, you can send a message proactively. I can't remember how to figure out the email address but it is something like ship abbreviation_concierge@rccl.com. For example on Navigator, NV_concierge@rccl.com. BUT hopefully someone else can correct me if I have this wrong.

  5. I did exactly what you are considering........stayed in a Grand Suite with my parents. It was plenty of space for 3 people and the experience of the Grand Suite is wonderful. At night, we could pull the curtain so there was complete privacy for sleeping. I think what is the nicest aspect of this is all of the room you will be able to enjoy in the cabin during the day with a very large balcony with nicer furniture. It will definitely have a more "celebratory" feel to things.

Then there are the suite benefits - Barefoot Beach at Labadee is really wonderful especially if you splurge and book a Cabana - this is really nice to do if there are any issues with needing shade and Labadee can be very hot. Service by the concierge is great....no waiting in line at Guest Services as he/she will take care of everything. Priority seating in shows and the nightly cocktail party in the Concierge Lounge can be very festive. You can also order off of the full main dining room menu and have a nice meal or two on the balcony. There is not a formal dining table in the room but if memory serves me correctly there is a table for 4 on the balcony. (I could be confusing the balcony table though with the Royal Family Suite - we were lucky enough to stay in that once.

Soooo....can you tell I think you really, really should go with the Grand Suite? Good luck with your decision and have a wonderful cruise with your parents! :)

  6. Thanks so much Isa! Really appreciate your help. Here is what we have told Natasja we are thinking of:

Do all of the downtown area you describe on Facebook, Liqueur Factory quick stop, souvenir shop quick stop and then head to the National Park. After there go to Porto Marie for snorkeling and then Karakter for lunch. Then back to the downtown area for drop off and end of the tour.

Not sure where the flamingos would fit in but that would be great too.

Anything you would change? Anything we have overlooked that you think would be important to see our first time to the island?

We are so looking forward to this!

  7. How is the restaurant at Porto Marie? Nice views with good food? We are looking forward to our tour with Natasja and we are trying to finalize the details of our tour. Trying to decide if we should snorkel and eat here or try a different spot for lunch. Thanks in advance for any opinions!:)

  8. Can anyone recommend a tour to take before a 3:45 flight. We will have already spent 2 days in old San Juan before the cruise so not interested in RCL's tour. We may just end up dropping our luggage at Barrachinas and have lunch but was wondering if there are any ideas that makes the luggage issue easy. Thanks for any ideas!
