  1. My first time setting up adjoining rooms. I was trying not to call RCCL but I did and we found that my daughter info was not filled out correctly. So yes 1 set sail pass for me and my wife. 1 pass for grandpa and 1 pass for daughter. I am guessing that they are separated because daughter does not have an onboard expense account and me and wife sharing an account *shrug*. Seems odd way of doing things. Anyways thank you both.

  2. I just came off the Allure (sister ship) and we really liked the family science activities and the Family Treasure Hunts. Gotta try those! Our kids are intimidated by the kids club but they don't mind it on port days, early, when there really are very few kids.

Family as in the parents can tag along? Do you remember how often ?

  3. A lot of work! Write down the price you see with your diamond discount and then you have to completely log out and do a fake booking. Compare both prices and you would have to this every single day. RCL has been doing very well since these new ships and prices lately have only been going up. Only time I have seen really good deals are the WOW deals for new bookings or they would make you loose your crown anchor discount. All the pros are already on it and constantly looking at price drops. If a price drop happens your timeline is 12 to 24 hours at the most because even though their IT department sucks they take down the low or error prices fast.

    GOod luck be vigilant

  4. Oh for crying out loud, grow up already! Sorry, I don't usually get name-cally on threads here, but this "rant" is absolutely ridiculous.

The OP was PERFECTLY FINE with their 5yo sleeping on the Pullman when they originally made the reservation, but NOW they have a problem with it????

And don't give me that "it's not safe if they hit rough seas" baloney -- a small child is NOT going to be thrown out of a Pullman bed unless the ship turns over like the Concordia, plain and simple. At that point, it's not going to matter who was sleeping on which bed -- you'll all be underwater and swimming for the door.

This is simply sour grapes on the part of the OP -- they want something for nothing, at least that's my opinion. The only reason that the cut-off for sleeping in the Pullman is 6yo is because some pencil-pusher in the Risk Management department of the cruise line's insurance company chose that number.

THERE IS NOTHING MAGICAL ABOUT THE AGE OF SIX!

I know kids who can sleep safely in a Pullman at age three, and I know kids whose judgment I wouldn't trust to not do something stupid (like jump out instead of using the ladder) at age twelve. The age of six is nothing more than a number.

And before anyone asks, my own son slept in the Pullman at age three and age four (two different cruises on two different lines) -- he loved his "special bunk bed"!

And the room was set up such that the Pullman was above the double bed anyway, so if he did intentionally make himself fall out of bed (the only way he was going to "fall out" -- there is a railing on those things, you know!), he would have landed on the double bed right underneath him.

OP, just grow up. If your kid is afraid to sleep in a Pullman, you shouldn't have booked one. If you're afraid to have your kid sleep in a Pullman, you shouldn't have booked one. Otherwise, put your kid wherever you want (the kid can even sleep on the floor -- kids can and will sleep anywhere, with or without a sheet / blanket / pillow!) and simply enjoy your cruise!

My thoughts exactly. Everyone else stop coddling.

  5. Same 3 type of breads every night. I asked what happened to banana bread they said they no longer continue it but they did made it one night for us because they are awesome. No love and marriage but I think that is a cruise director choice. No pandesal =( its a filipino food google it. No more loving cups. Maybe its because its a 5 nighter? have not been on a 7 nighter few years. Anyways still the cruise and ship was better than expected.

  6. We just returned from the 5 night cruise this morning. This was our second time on Liberty. While I agree that we didn't see an overall decline on this cruise/ship, we did experience a slow check in process - priority line for platinum/emerald only had two agents. Took almost an hour to get through the lines and on the ship (arrived at 10:45). We are also noticing a major decline in food quality/variety. Also not fond of the free beverage options which is basically flavored water only offered during meal times. If your looking for something after hours you get your choice of water or coffee.

All employees we encountered were friendly and the ship was clean and beautifully decorated for the holidays. We were so glad they did The Quest on the last night! Our son was one of the team captains and we had a blast.

Debarkation wasn't too bad. We did self assist around 8:30am. No lines getting off the ship but customs had a bit of a line.

One night blood was found somewhere on the ship and apparently there was enough for concern and no explanation of where it came from. Therefore all passengers and crew were placed on "lock down" in our cabins for nearly 2 hours while they went to each cabin to account for everyone. By the time everyone was accounted for and we were released, dinner had been delayed. Late seating was moved to 9:30 and Windjammer didn't open until after 7pm. I was slightly surprised they didn't offer a free drink or something to ward off the complaints that I KNOW were coming, especially from families with small hungry kids.

team 2 by any chance? (for quest)

  7. The better analogy is CCL:Wal-Mart RCCL:Target

A lot of times Amazon is cheaper than Wal-Mart for the things you want. Target (RCCL), is slightly more upscale/expensive - but well worth the money! (for some people).

Even though RCCL's ships are larger with more passengers, there's more to do - therefore better crowd dispersion. I prefer Target to avoid the crowds.

Bumper cars and north star - meh for me personally - but I know some people will enjoy them. And if that gives me more time on the flow rider and the rock wall, I'm all for it!

Maybe better one is carnival = mcdonalds and RCCL = chick fila

  8. I don't know how quickly our cruise started selling, but I'm convinced that Royal was ready to hike the prices at 12:01am on the day of the sale.

Before I went to bed on the night BEFORE the sale:

    1st/2nd: $499pp

    3rd/4th: $239pp

    GRAND TOTAL: $1,744

As soon as I woke up on the 1st morning of the sale:

    1st/2nd: $707pp

    3rd/4th: FREE

    GRAND TOTAL: $1,682

Savings of: $62 (Hey, $62 is better than nothing, but it's definitely NOT kids sail free!)

You could have called at 12:01 am whatever their time zone is and possibly got that lower price =). I called 4am eastern and still was 1.5 hour wait thats why I mentioned its kinda like black friday people were waiting at 12:01.

  9. Easy answer for the people complaining. Most of prices went up for simple fact the category is almost full and they want to fill up other categories. You were either late or procrastinating because a lot of people/agents knew about the promotion already at least a week before it was official. I believed you had window of anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days to get the absolute best price before categories start getting filled and prices getting jacked up.

Mine for instance I check everyday this month and after 5 days of promotion interior, outside and balcony went up anywhere from 150$ to 300$.

Now this week Junior suite has gone down 200$ I wonder why................

PS I don't care about your phone queue time. I waited 1.5 hour and saved 1 grand for my family cruise. Reminds me of black friday except I am in the comfort of my home.

  10. the oasis class was a huge disappointment... so the quantum class would be a quantum disappointment i think..sorry for the pun :p

instead of 5 bad things, there will be 8 bad things... instead of 5 bad restaurants and shows, there will be more bad restaurants and shows.. more bad things <> make it better.

Not saying carnival is better, it isn't... (except for MDR food), but when RCI pretends to have good restaurants/shows and then so underdeliver, it's hard not to be disappointed..atleast carnival doesn't pretend to have good paid restaurants or shows.

The paid restaurants on oasis are mediocore at best..having more choices of mediocore paid restaurants isn't any better. The shows are akin to a local production of live theater and the aqua show was laughably bad and boring. the so called broadway inspired shows were half the quality of decent ones on land.

cramming more mediocre venues onto a ship, is'nt really making it any better.

When they pretend to have comparable items as on land (e.g. decent paid restaurants, shows and etc) but then can't even deliver the worst cirque show I've seen and food quality in paid restaurants I wouldn't bother to goto on land, and bumper cars in a small enviornment reminds me of those sad indoor gocart tracks I had to endure in teambuilding at work.

But I'm the atypical RCI/Carnival cruiser I guess... I'm not a sucker for novelty but for quality and I don't mind if quality is not measurable to onland, but don't try to sell me something that they can't deliver like decent restaurants, shows, entertainment.

I hope you do know you are the minority on this one lol. Both ships sails full capacity every week and another one is being made. People are sailing RCL even at the higher prices. (supply and demand )

IMO carnival = Walmart of the seas RCL = Amazon of the seas.
