We are staying in Milan for several days before Venice cruise.  Hoping to take day trips to

wineries in Lombardy, & Piedmont regions.  Also to Florence by train or with guide.

Asking for recommendations for Wine Tour Guides out of Milan & Florence, either private or small group. 

Hopefully, someone you have had a good experience with.  (We try to avoid the Viator type of day tours.)

I welcome any ideas & suggestions also on travel to the Lakes Region, either on your own or with a guide.

Bookish, looks like you live in Airzona. If you flew out of Phoenix, would you please share airline and flight info?  Did you use Uniworld Air service or book your own?  We're in AZ and booked this cruise for October.  Thank you for your posts!

I understand that you forfeit your $100 deposit if you cancel a cruise. But can the $100 deposit be transferred to a new booking of a different cruise?

We had a great day in Valle de Guadalupe visiting wineries and lunch at Finca de Altozono with hiring a driver for a very reasonable price. Omar Contreras email is: whereveryouwantogo@gmail.com. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him.

You will need to do a bit of homework as to the wineries you want to visit, but Omar can make calls to the places that require a reservation. Surprisingly, many of them do. This is what we did:

9:00 Pick Up

10:00 Adobe Guadalupe Winery

11:30 Decantos Winery

1:00 Lunch at Finca Altozano

2:45 Monte Xanic Winery

5:00 drive back

The tour guide we used was La Vigne du roy. You can checkout their website. (lavingeduroy.com). The website is pretty descriptive of the tours that are offered.

 

We did not do the Normandy beaches from Honfleur. We left Honfleur that afternoon and returned to Rouen. Our trip to the beaches the next day started and ended with a three hour bus ride from and back to Rouen.

Hello JPH814. Enjoyed your commentary on this cruise. We are doing the Uniworld Paris Normandy Cruise Oct 22, 2017. We'll be in Paris for a couple of days prior and are very interested in the Champagne tour you described.
