But of course, if you are only staying in the UK for two or three days there is no point posting off your sample !
It matters not if you send it but you must pay for it and get the kit. I agree, waste of time and money-maker for UK.

Having to fly internationally to embarkation port, I think it might be helpful for cruise lines to set up a walk in test centre at an hotel close to port, where passengers could walk in day before cruise and have their results emailed to them and possibly even to cruiseline to save showing Qr code/ paper version. ( not everyone would agree to sharing personal information)This might not suit everyone but a great number of passengers arrive at port one or more days prior to embarkation and those who don’t probably live close enough to test at home.
This could be helpful..but I would suggest many international travellers do not have a hire car, so might have difficulty getting there.
If flying to UK you can have a test sent to your hotel, 24 hr turnaround. This is to comply with 2 day after arrival test. Only test required for UK. No pre flight testing required. If going directly to port then this is not necessary. Princess testing free at port before boarding.

You can always ask your pre cruise hotel if they will accept a package for you and have your tests shipped there. I would have a back up plan just in case something goes wrong but it’s worth the ask.
Exactly what I did. 69 pound sterling. You pay and get a verification number which you must have when clearing customs

Several thread here document the angst people have trying to fit a Covid test into their pre-cruise flight and travel plans. That coupled with a wonky app makes one wonder if it's worth the effort.
Wouldn't it be a much better start to a cruise if Princess set up pre-cruise Covid testing at the pier?
Princess is testing at Port. You do not need pre flight test as of 10/4 but still need to schedule and pre pay for 2 day test if staying in UK. If going directly to ship you put “In Transit” on your locator form and you will not need a test. This applies only to UK cruises/Transatlantics. US departures have different criteria. I think a 2 day pre cruise test still required.

The UK government requires that everyone arriving in the UK from a "green" country (the US is green), has to show proof of being fully vaccinated. It is therefore very likely that the airline will want to see proof of vaccination, because if they carry a passenger who is denied access to the UK due to not being vaccinated, the airline gets fined.
Agree, proof required for UK and checked before boarding a flight.

Thanks Goldengal. We arrive the day our cruise departs Southampton, so will be in transit. No day 2 test required, thank goodness. One less hoop to jump thru. 😁

Welcome to Cruise Critic!
Lets start by getting you over to the Princess board, here:
https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/119-princess-cruises/
where you will find everything you need to know about Princess.
You will be required, at this time, to test within 48 hours of the sailing date. Last I heard, Princess is not providing the test, but check the Princess board.
Princess providing free test upon check in. You do not need test two days prior. The criteria changed as of October 4.

Regal Princess 14 day transatlantic out of Southampton Nov 3, 2021
We are vaccinated…but have been reading about protocol on getting required Covid test prior to embarkation. There is info that Princess provides the complimentary test at the cruise terminal on day of embarkation.
i also read elsewhere that we should have the test, on our own, two days prior to embarkation.
Does anyone know which it is? Thanks for any info.
You do not need a test two days prior. Only test at the port. If you are in the UK for more than two days you need a test in the UK two days after arrival. Suppose to have your appointment already. $$

Do you happen to know will we show proof of vaxx prior to boarding flight or not until boarding ship? Just curious.
I think only on the ship but depending on airline they may also require it. Testing is done when you check in. Rapid test.

WE are on the Sky TA Nov 5. No need for another test before the one at the pier?
No. Test at Pier is all that is required and must be vaccinated and have proof.

I did not see that anywhere but makes sense. If positive they want you notified immediately. You have to have it scheduled and paid to get a verification number. Give them someone else’s number. Emergency Contact. ??
