  1. So my sister is going on her first cruise on Carnival. She wants to bring her curling iron and "hot curlers".  Are these items legal?  I know you can't bring an iron, steamer or any type of hot plate items.

  2. My sister and I are both platinum.  We just cruised on the Legend May 28 to June 5.  I got this letter through my email, she didn't.  So I forwarded to her.   When we arrive on the ship to enquire about the letter at guest services, they said a lot of platinum and diamond cruisers did not get the email and were not aware of the "extras" we can get.  Glad I got my email.  The free gift we got was a drink "coozi", it first looked like a mousepad, but it folds around your bottle or can to keep it cool.  Really nice gift.

We were informed of the 2 free drink vouchers by a letter our steward left in our room on the first day of the cruise.  Go to any bar on the ship, show your platinum or diamond sail card, and they know that you are entitled to 2 free drinks.  After that they charge you for any drinks ordered.

VIFP PLATINUM AND DIAMOND GUESTS UPDATE
    AND ONLINE CHECK-IN INVITATION

Dear Valued Platinum and Diamond Guests,

This communication is being sent to our booked Platinum and Diamond guests.  It is independent from any request our guests might have pending for an exemption to vaccine requirements, and the receipt of this communication is not any indication of the status of your request.

We want to thank you for the loyalty and support you have shown Carnival, and also make you aware of the new way to redeem your VIFP amenities. These changes were designed in accordance with our new Have Fun. Be Safe. protocols to minimize the number of stateroom deliveries, while making it easier for you to collect some of your benefits.

Moving forward, certain VIFP amenities will be linked to your Sail & Sign folio for electronic redemption, like how we currently handle complimentary laundry.  Simply claim your benefit, using your Sail & Sign card, and a one-time credit for that item will be posted on your folio and be visible on your statement.

    Complimentary Beverages
    • Brunch Beverage – redeemable in the dining room.
    • 1.5L Bottled Water – redeemable from any bar, restaurant or your stateroom.
    Chocolate Delight (5+ Day Cruises)

A tasty treat will be ready for you to enjoy; just call room service to schedule delivery.

Carnival Logo Gift & Ship Pin

Please visit our Photo Gallery to claim your Carnival logo gift and your Carnival ship pin.  We encourage you to claim your gifts no later than two days prior to the end of your cruise.

We also want you to know that given our focus on meeting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) requirements and implementation of new health and safety protocols, we will need to adjust how we deliver some of the VIFP priority benefits, as follows:
    • ONLINE CHECK-IN – All guests will be required to complete Online Check-In, which will open 14 days prior to sailing.  Platinum and Diamond guests will be given 48 hours advance access to select their preferred Arrival Appointment. Please visit My Cruise Manager on Carnival.com starting at 16 days prior to sailing to complete your Online Check-In and select the Arrival Appointment that works best for your plans.
Due to additional embarkation day processes, all guests will have to arrive promptly at their Arrival Appointment.  Regrettably, we cannot accommodate any early arrivals and guests will be turned away and asked to return at their assigned time.

    • STATEROOM ACCESS – Due to enhanced cleaning and sanitation, staterooms may not be ready at the time of boarding for the early Arrival Appointments.   If you have not checked your bags, feel free to quickly drop off your luggage while our crew puts the finishing touches on your stateroom.  This will allow you to complete your e-mustering process and start your vacation promptly.

    • WATER SHUTTLE PRIORITY – Priority water shuttle debark will be provided subject to local guidance at the destinations we visit, which may change without prior notice.  Our team on board will keep you informed of the debarkation plans for each port.

    • CASINO – Although we are currently unable to host casino tournaments on board, you will be given US$25 in Casino FunPlay®, in addition to any other FunPlay® you might be entitled to as part of your booking.

    • DEBARK – We will do our best to offer priority debarkation, however, this may not be possible if we have unusually high numbers of Platinum and Diamond guest on board.

We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through our restart plans.  Your continued support means a lot to us and our great staff and crew can’t wait to welcome you back on board!

    Sincerely,

  4. I am booked June 7,2020 on the Pride leaving Baltimore. Cruise was booked on a casino offer for 100.00 plus port fees and taxes with 200.00 OBC.  Price is SO good compared to regular pricing.  If Carnival cancels, I will take the refund. Their FCC could not beat this casino offer, unless they offer a bigger OBC with the FCC.

  5. Sounds like the offer my sis got a month ago. Got till March 3 to use. Her offer was a $100.00 per person for an interior room and free drinks in the casino.  Looking to book a 15 day San Diego to Hawaii. Total cost per person is $557.00  That's total cost with taxes, port fees, gratuity, and Carnival insurance. Saw online the normal cost of an interior room for that same cruise. BIG savings.  Makes up for the money she lost in the casino on her last cruise in November.  Hope she takes me along on the HI cruise.

  6. I was on this cruise but have a more positive opinion. With over 2000 passengers, you will get 2000 different opinions.  Being retired Navy on this cruise, the storm was no problem for me.  But considering the majority of the passengers were more senior, some with walkers, canes or scooters, the storm was an annoyance at best.  We had to be out of our cabins at 11am, with a planned arrival time of 1pm in Baltimore.  This was my first cruise as platinum, so I waited in the Normandie Restaurant.  No more waiting on deck 3 or above until your higher luggage tag number is called to depart the ship. I had luggage tag number 4.  You do have a better "waiting" area in the Normandie Restaurant, but it still seemed long but not as long as it would have been since making platinum. I got off the ship 245pm.  After leaving Grand Turk, Friday was a warm sunny day with people sunning themselves before the planned cold weather for Saturday.  There was no announcement by the captain of "getting ahead of the storm."  Having sailed through storms while in the Navy, weather was rough Saturday morning. It made sense to slow the ships speed due to the waves and swells.  The ship was going into the waves vice going with it.  My cabin was on deck 5 forward, I could hear and feel the crashing of the waves into the bow of the ship. Did LOVE the extra sea day due to the delay, paid for a 14 day cruise and got 15 days instead.

  7. I have done the transit through the Panama Canal onboard a US Navy ship. Its best to get the full 360 degree view of the canal transit while out and about on deck. What you view on one side, there may be a different and interesting view on the other side. It comes down to what you want to spend while cruising. I am Platinum status on Carnival, but the money I save choosing the interior cabin goes toward future cruises. Besides the interior cabins on a Carnival ship is like "heaven" compared to berthing I had while in the Navy.

  8. Dang, King and Queen award for chair hogs. Seeing that it was on the open, crowded, deck to watch fireworks, I would have started a chant "Chair Hogs" starting faint until it gets louder. First cruise or not, people know what chair hogs are. A lot of people knowing the situation would join it.

  9. Don't assume, get the facts. Call Carnival and ask them what is covered under your insurance. I could be wrong here, but I remember reading something about Carnival insurance not paying on "known" conditions. Now a broken leg, heart attack are not "known" conditions. Your sons seizure is known to you. Better to get the right facts, than a large bill the insurance company may not pay due to a misunderstanding.

  10. According to the "cruisedeckplan" website your room has the Twin/King bed with sofa bed. As per deck plan "key", your room has a star (sofa bed). If it has one or two black circles, those are the rooms with overhead beds. If it has a dark square, then its overhead bed above the sofa bed. Enjoy your cruise, hope your son still enjoys it too.

  11. I believe the problem with this approach is that if you hit a big jackpot (that requires manual intervention to pay out), that if they determine she was using someone else's card, they may not pay.

But the part of your post that really stuck out to me is that the two of you earned enough points for a free cruise? I don't remember the exact amount, but when I looked at this on a recent cruisie, determined that that would require a *lot* of gambling. Sounds like you two gamble like I approach dining: aggressively. :)

I did not use my SScard. She used her SScard, I just gave my money for her to play along with her money in the slots. She did hit 500.00 in the slots which we split half. To sum up the experience, I started the with 500.00 of my own money and left the ship with 350.00 in my wallet with a free cruise which she took me on. All winnings were under her card.

  12. This past November I flew into Ft Lauderdale airport to board the Carnival Conquest at Port Everglades. Airport transfer through Carnival was $31.00 per person. Since there were two of us and the port was 5 min away we took a taxi instead. Grand total for taxi ride for two. . .$15.00. If I had to board a ship in Port Canaveral and having to fly to Orlando airport, then I would purchase a airport transfer since the port is about an hour away.

  13. I have sailed on both Carnival and Royal Caribbean and have used the showers and not the spas. With Carnival Pride, I was impressed with the showers in the gym. You get overhead spray, and two sprays each on the left and right of your body. It SURE beats the shower in the stateroom. Just go to the spa and ask for a locker key. Once with the key, you have access to the gym locker room. They don't care if you work out or not, because on the Pride, there was a hot tub if you didn't want to work out. Either way, who are they to stop you from taking a shower in the gym. P.S., Don't bring stateroom towels, the gym locker room is stocked with towels to dry off with in the towel bin. :D
