IMO they should have a policy with signs that chairs that are unoccupied for more than X time (where X is more than reasonable -- say an hour) will have their contents removed. This will not stop "those people" who think the rules don't apply to them but it will stop a lot of us who are rule followers and/or may push the rules but will be okay with being called on it.

They have a few signs with the 30 minute limit, and I will and have stood and watched for 30 minutes and then have the staff remove the item(s), and only once did I have a guy show up and stare at me after about 3 hours. Too bad buddy. So rude and inconsiderate to reserve chairs.

  2. I've always been pleased with the quality. Was on the enchanted less than a year ago and was happy with all of my cocktails, but just off the celebrity summit and they were horrible! I just ended going to wine and sticking with that, and we had the premium package. Oh well.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

Question, can you order a seafood dish along with a steak.

For example, Lobster tail and a Ribeye steak?

Or is it you are limited to just a Seafood dish or just a Steak?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. My husband and I are on the Summit in two weeks, and we have premium wifi for one device each. My husband is a diabetic and was just prescribed a dexcom g7 and I realized that this may require it's own wifi. Does anyone have any experience with this?

  5. It is completely different from my experiences with the exception of the wine glasses and sommelier.

I have experienced only excellent, friendly service on princess along with good food. Personally, while Reidel glasses are nice, it doesn't affect my cruise that they don't have them. I can understand the frustration with the long wait for the wine, though.

My next cruise is on Celebrity, but the following cruise is on Princess. They are very much alike, but like all things, people view things differently.

    Happy cruising! 🛳

  6. I stand there and wait 30 minutes and then I have the stuff removed and take the chair. It's rude and selfish to think that if you got there first the chair is yours regardless of time. There are so few chairs that people should be more considerate.

One time, someone returned about 4 or 5 hours later and just stood there staring at me. I couldn't care less. I just continued to read my book. He left after a few minutes.

  7. Bostonian here. There's a real difference in taste between the two. The first time I had a rock lobster tail I thought that there was something wrong with it until I found out it was different species., and personally, I think the American Lobster is sweeter

  8. This will be our first time on Celebrity, and we have the classic beverage package. I generally drink cosmopolitans, gin and tonics, martinis,  and various types of red wine.  My husband enjoys Bushmills and whatever version of Princess' dirty banana Celebrity makes. Will we need to upgrade or will we be okay with the classic?

    Thanks in advance

(We'll be on the Summit, if that makes a difference)

I have to ask, when you come out of the shower you’re drying a clean body, assuming you washed properly….same for washing your hands, you’re drying clean hands. So why can’t towels be used more than once?

So, I do wash the hand towel that is in our master bathroom daily, but not the one in the main bathroom unless we have company.  We mainly just use the bathroom in the master bath.

I am not concerned about the amount of water or electricity used.  I'd rather just have clean fresh towels.

  10. Personally, I wash our bath towels every single day and our hand towels either every other day or daily so I definitely want new towels daily.  As to the turn down service, I definitely like it and would like it to continue, but as to the pen and paper, my husband and I always have a pen a small notebook so it doesn't matter to us.

It is the little things that add to the experience.

I take a stack of legal tender $2 bills also and have found that the bar staff soon recognize me, they remember my preferred drink (scotch), and before long I'm getting a better pour from a higher shelf.  The $2 bill is unusual and stands out from the two $1 tippers.  I've even had the evening bar waiters who work the buffet in the morning drop off a mimosa as they pass my table, and/or a bottle of water if it's apparent that I'm going ashore.

It also helps that I make an effort to learn their name and a greeting in their language.  My most recent bar waiter back in late September was from Russia so I learned how to say good evening and thank you in Russian.

I agree with what Thrak said $2.00 bills may pose a problem in their home country.

Also, I don't carry $2.00 bills with me yet most servers remember exactly what I drink along with remembering my name

I am glad this worked out for you, but next time, just enter "TA" and not the agency and name as not allowed on Cruise Critic.  It was fine for you to call Princess and complain directly as a customer that your NO UPGRADE was ignored, but anything to do with cabin selection and cruise fare has to be handled through the agent.  It is most likely that Princess notified the agency of your cabin "upgrade", but they failed to forward the email to you.  Checking Cruise Personalizer on a regular basis helps, but it may still be a few days after a change that you notice something amiss.

I had a do not upgrade once and I got "upgraded" to a totally obstructed balcony. J had to talk to several people before getting my cabin back. Now I check all the time to make sure I haven't been "upgraded"

Generally I agree but I know my major concern from a cruising perspective is the prospect of a significant outbreak on board.  While the CDC might be pushed out from dictating cruising protocols, they will still have the jurisdiction to disallow a ship to disembark if there is a significant outbreak on board.

It'll be on the cruises to manage this and make sure they avoid it, but the more unvaccinated on board, the more masks are needed, and the greater the risk for outbreaks.  Even as someone vaccinated, I don't like either of those things.  The more vaccinated on board, the better. It's not just about personal safety.

    Good points
