  1. I booked the escape room for 6 people then had to cancel to change the time and # of people to 8.  RC only refunded me for 2 people not 6.  I called RC and was told they did credit back the full amount and to call my credit card company.  I called the credit card company and they told me there was only refunds for 2 people (as my statement showed) not the additional 4.  They immediately started an investigation as they said I did all I needed to do by calling RC first.  This was about 10 days ago and I haven't had this issue resolved yet but the credit card company said to give it 30 days.

Review your personal health insurance for coverage to make sure you aren't double-insuring something.  Your health insurance is your primary insurance when a medical event happens and usually your travel insurance will want to see a denial from your health insurer before picking up the tab.

Yes, that's true UNLESS you choose "Primary" coverage and ensure there is the word "secondary" near any of the benefits.  Then it is primary and they pay first -- the only way I buy insurance.

  3. Does Carnival (specifically Miracle) sell the nice fluffy robes anymore? I would like to purchase one for a friend next week while on the Miracle and don't see where I can purchase it from the Fun Shops ahead of time. Thanks!

  4. Thanks CB. Wasn't expecting anything spectacular out of CJ's; just something convenient (walking distance from the Kimpton Seafire Resort) and affordable (relatively speaking for Grand Cayman). :-)

My husband "earned" a trip to GC and we stayed at the Kimpton. Not a hotel I would stay at myself because of the price but very nice. Calico Jack's is right next door (easy walk) and a fun place if you like the beach vibe. I just can see paying $50 for a hamburger I can get for $12 next door -- but that's just me! You will enjoy either; whatever price point you like and vibe you are looking for. Kimpton does have amazing amenities.

  5. We are on a 7 day with three ports and purchase the package. While I don't plan on being drunk every day (light weight here), if I want it, I can have it and I don't have to worry about surprises later. I love my fancy coffees and bottle water and they are included as well. Having to worry about what I spend on-board is not on my vacation agenda.

My sentiments exactly. Used to be always worried about how much my husband spent of drinks and then I'd get irritated. Now I don't have to feel that way. Granted it comes at a $ cost but well worth the peace between us!

  6. The plans through the sites mentioned are not "Third party", they are direct from insurer. The biggest reason we don't use CCL or any cruiseline offered insurance is that we want "Primary" coverage, not "Secondary" (which is what you get thru CCL). What this means is that your own insurance is accessed and used FIRST, with the remainder needing to be submitted to the "secondary" insurer.....lots of paperwork and hoops to jump through with a lot of 'finger pointing' btwn your own insurance and the "secondary" carrier. If the insurance is "Primary" coverage (which is clearly shown on insure my trip dot com), then they are the main source for a claim, NOT your own insurance FIRST! That means tons if you ever need to actually use the insurance.

Exactly what we look for -- "Primary" at least in medical and evacuation coverage. I don't think you will find that directly with the cruise lines.

  7. Prefer to book directly from Carnival but this time we went thru a TA because we got free gratuities and the cabin price was the same as Carnival offered. We just got an upgrade offer yesterday via email (first time in 18 years) but it was no bargain - $1,900 to go from our extended balcony to a junior suite. Rather have the $1,900 to cruise again later!

  8. Sadly, my husband and I felt the same way about out May cruise on the Magic. We did have our 2 grandkids with us and because of that we had a great time just enjoying them have a good time. That being said, no more Magic for us. But as we all know there are many more ships to choose from. In fact, we will be on the Miracle Panama Canal cruise in September. In the past we loved the Miracle, hoping we still feel the same way.

  9. Received my first upgrade offer after 18 years old sailing with Carnival. They wanted me to pay over $1,900 to move from my extended balcony to a junior suite for our September cruise on Miracle. Needless to say, I declined. Could have booked a suite for that price my self, I didn't just fall off the turnip truck (as my mom used to say)!

  10. My husband used his for work quite a bit on our Magic cruise last May. He found that to get anything done (emails in and out), he really had to get up about 4 or 5 am and go to the Lido deck. As soon as the masses got up, it got too frustrating. He did send and receive good size emails. He got very frustrated at times. It seems the Magic was much more frustrating that our cruise last December on RC Oasis of the Seas.

We go on the Miracle in September and sure hope it works better then.

  11. Can you tell me the names the of the main stage shows in the theater? We are big Carnival cruisers but have noticed that the stage shows have been repetitive lately on all their ships. We cruised 3 Carnival cruises last year and the show "FLICK" was on every single ship. That was a let down. Is "FLICK" on this ship as well?

Yes, FLICK was on this ship. I didn't get it and none of us liked it.

We were on this cruise also. We had a great time because we had our two grandchildren (10 and 5) with us but unfortunately, and it hurts me to say this, we were so underwhelmed and disappointed with many things on this cruise that we are seriously thinking about canceling our Miracle Panama cruise in Sep. but really can't because we are traveling with 2 other couples.

  12. Laundry rooms on Carnival are one thing that they have over RC. I don't want to do laundry but not having to bring huge suitcases, especially as we like to disembark as early as possible, sure makes life easier! I am platinum now but hesitant to have them do my laundry as I never wash in hot water. May give it a try for a few things this time (Magic, May 26!).

  13. I prefer to book thru Carnival directly but my upcoming cruise at the end of May was booked thru an online agency and we got $2,000 obc and the same price as carnival (carnival prices have since gone way up). Our September cruise to the Panama cancel was booked thru a warehouse club travel site and we got free gratuities ($207 for an 8 day cruise). Carnival has never beaten that price -- yet anyway. I really hate dealing with travel agents but money talks!

  14. Hi all,

Considering Miracle cruise with grandkids (10 and 5). Is there enough to keep them happy? The cruise we are considering is going to Grand Cayman and I really want my grandson to experience swimming with the stingrays! I've been on the Miracle a few years ago without kids and had a great time but this cruise is about them.

We are also considering the Magic but it doesn't go to G. Cayman.

Any thoughts from cruisers with kids about this age?
