Hi Sandye, my name is Susan, and we traveled with you on the North Cape Cruise. I remember how much we had in common...teachers. Your CC handle rang a bell. And I looked back at my emails and found one from you. Hope you are both well, and continue to travel the world. We are getting on this cruise on the 21st, and will be happy to share our experiences. Take care.

Susan—of course I remember you! The North Cape Cruise was one of my favorites! Now would love to take the Northern Lights Norway cruise. You would think our bucket list would be getting smaller—but it’s not!  Will look forward to sharing your South America travel experiences with you. Did I read that Princess will be eliminating the SA/Antarctica Cruise? Hope not as we are booked up through 2021. Happy travels.

It's been amazing.  Even though we lost two days in Antarctica and Punta Arenas I can't imagine having a better cruise experience than what we've already had.

This is Sandye (travelled with you on your previous South America cruise and played trivia with you). I have SO enjoyed following along with you—and would love to take this trip. Thanks for the inspiration! We leave in a couple of weeks to cruise from Sydney to Singapore! Looking forward to it. Safe travels!

  3. Go to the casino slot machines and put your room card in, load an amount and then cash out. Go collect the cash and you’ve avoided the ATM fee. I haven’t tried this yet but read it on Pinterest.

This works. We do it whenever we have leftover OBC.

  4. I was reading tipping information on the Princess website and came across an interesting tidbit. It stated all tips collected were distributed fleet wide which I took to mean the ships crew did not get all the tips left for a particular cruise. This was explained to be caused by the constant revolving of the crew. i.e. Crew members are coming and going at every port.

  5. I agree. Most of the descriptions I've seen on the cruise line excursion pages includes something about being left behind if the independents don't get you back on time. You can easily search on here for how many times that has happened.

I've only been on one cruise ever and it was 10 days to Alaska last year on NCL Pearl. I did all of my own arranging of excursions with info I predominantly found here on Cruise Critic. On each one I saved money. A great option for Skagway is Dyea Dave Tours. Very personal service and small groups. We combined a road trip to Emerald Lake with a return trip from Fraser BC on the White Pass railroad - Dave picked us up that morning at the dock, saw that we were on the train and the met us again at the train in Skagway for a ride back to the ship or wherever else in town we wanted to go. (Town is not that big nor that far from the ships...)

You'll have a great time no matter what you do! Good luck!

  6. So interested in your wonderful report. We are taking a cruise from Tokyo to Vancouver next April--and will spend one week in Japan prior to cruise. Our plans are to do just about the same things you are doing--trips to Kamakura, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Mt. Fuji, plus a couple of days sightseeing in Tokyo itself. We too would live to hear where you purchased the wifi. Keep up the good work on your travel report.

  7. Hi KYteach,

Have been to Norway now a few times, to get the best out of your cruise,

do your home work before you go, there is so much to see and much

history, that if you do not know about will sail right past,

like the giant U boat pens at Trondheim etc

    yours Shogun

Shogun--my husband is a big history buff, so I will put him on checking it out! Thanks for the advice!
