  1. My family and I also were booked on this 7/22 cruise. What a hassle, we were tied into those dates working around my now adult exchange students' work schedules. We did rebook for the Epic western Mediterranean. Our original flights were in and out of Hamburg. Now we have added round trip to Barcelona and back and then off to visit in Berlin and Stuttgart. Many more travel days.

  2. We took our 18 month old grandson on the Star a few years ago. There were his parents and both sets of grandparents so lots of babysitters. He and parents were in a family balcony room and liked it fine.

Didn't take him on long shore excursions like the train, etc. Didn't use the kid club at all. He had fun and so did we. Never took him to music or any of the evening shows. We just played games or talked to him.

  3. We took Epic for a Western Med. round trip. Loved our balcony room, loved the food. We ate in MDR and buffet and Teppanyaki and Moderno. Loved all of them. Shower enclosure is frosted and didn't bother us, spigot on sink in room would splash if turned on fulltilt, so learned fast to turn it on just a little.

We would not hesitate to book Epic again, just the airfare to Europe is too much and the Caribbean does not call to us.

  4. If you plan on traveling in Europe and going to any of the nonEuropean Union countries, leave lots of room in your passport. Poland stamped 8 times and we only went thru a corner of Poland going to the Czech Republic and Prague. Large stamps with initialed places, used up over 3 pages!!!

Could have had something to do with Immigration in Copenhagen not stamping us into the EU!!! We gave them passport and they scanned it but Polish border noticed that our passport said we had been in Germany since 2007. Um, no we hadn't!! They admitted us but told us to be careful leaving Europe because we had admission thru Poland and airline tickets thru Denmark. Copenhagen was as good going as coming and didn't notice the discrepancy. Nice guys at Poland border but language was a definite problem.

  5. We did the Jewel Coastal trip in May. DH did the beer and ale tour and enjoyed it a lot. I don't like either beer or ale,, so I went on a Seafood Cooking and Wine tour. I highly recommend it. The chef of Baked Alaska, a local restaurant, prepared a spring King with a simple aioli sauce. Then we went to a wine shop and down into the basement to taste 5 Oregon wines.
