I second JMAE and there’s a third channel announced today but I’m also confused because I found this https://www.norfolk.gov/6030/Cruises and I live in Norfolk and they are talking like the pride is returning here from its current cruise (the morning news likes to broadcast with the Norfolk port in the background and they talk about the ships coming/going) so as the above poster says, hopefully some kind of confirmation from carnival soon regarding what the plan will be….

That's crossed my mind, also. How would turnaround be handled with a port shift?

  2. For those who have sailed out of Norfolk on Pride or Legend or those about to sail Pride out of Norfolk . . .

    HELP!

For my 4/28 sailing on Pride, we had been notified that we would get an update email one-week before sailing. Well, we got the email yesterday and it is completely useless and lacking information.

    1. The only itinerary you can access from the email is the original, listing departure from Baltimore.

    2. There is NO mention anywhere of a Norfolk departure.

    3. Thinking I would get insight from the parking info button, I clicked. It lists all Carnival ports and their available parking.

4, The button for Cedar Grove contains outdated information with NO adjustment/update for the current situation.

The sailing is in 6 days and we have NO relevant information from Carnival!

Might anyone who has recently sailed after being rescheduled to Norfolk or anyone who is about to sail Pride able to fill in the blanks?

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  3. So, the recommendation from Carnival to drop luggage at the terminal and then go park is not a good option?

I can pull up a map of the harbor area. Where is the Carnival recommended parking?

Have there been porters at the parking area to collect ship luggage or do they expect it to be lugged aboard the buses?

Thanks for any and all help.

We reserved the Beach Club on our first post-COVID cruise as a treat to ourselves for about $80./pp.  It was barely worth that, in my opinion.  On our upcoming Adventure cruise in May, it is priced at $337/pp.  When I told my husband, he asked, "Have they added hookers of something?" 😀

    And expensive hookers at that!

    Free future cruise raffles

    Hi, Len!

My wife used to like going to the raffles in the spas before sail away and hope to win something. We went to one on an Allure cruise and won a two-day inaugural cruise on Harmony when it came to the U.S. It was fantastic; invited guests only. No expenses; SeaPass cards were never asked for except for specialty restaurants in the evening. It wasn't cruising full, so we were able to go to 5 shows in the two days. Even a limited amount of photos were included. And we each received a really nice, sturdy good-sized travel bag. I still use it to bring my two twelve-packs of soda onboard. I'd like another shot at something like that.

Got them for $38.99 ea. during Black Friday for my upcoming cruise 12/3 (50% off). Low enough to make it an impulse purchase to at least check it out once.

    Hey, Clifton Parker!

I had originally paid $88.98, but it dropped to the same $38.99 (as it should since we are on the same cruise. I canceled and rebooked.

I also saw that waterpark cabanas are on sale for diamond + for $288.98. It comes with 6 admission tickets.

Yes, for items they have stocked at their bar.

    • The package may be used on our private islands, all food and beverage venues, and other areas such as the theater or public spaces that offer beverage service.

    Thanks.

You just need your medallion to buy tokens from the machine in the laundry room to be used in the washers and dryers. It will then be added to your account. The token machines don't always seem to be working, so it's a good idea to go get your tokens before you actually want to do your laundry....just in case....

    Thanks!

  9. Hi, folks.

I've done three Princess cruises in the past. Each was a seven-day itinerary, so laundry was not an issue.

I have a back-to-back on the Caribbean Princess starting January 21.

What method/s of payment are accepted at the laundry.

    Thanks in advance.

I was reading your long post.My wife and I and then with our kids vacationed every summer in Lake George and made side trips to surrounding areas. We were at the Painted Pony Dude Ranch in 1974 I believe.

We have relatives in Fairfax County,Va. On a cruise in 2015 on the Grandeur we were having a conversation with a woman and during the course of same she mentioned. that she worked at a school. We said that one of our relatives worked at that school. It turned out that our niece was her onetime baby sitter.

On ever cruise that we have been on we have met at least one person that we shared something in common with.

Len, though we haven't met, I know by the roll calls that we have been on several of the same sailings. Anthem, Grandeur, Enchantment. The coincidences continue:

Born in Manhattan, East Harlem, long ago!

Moved to Long Island in 1960, New Hyde Park

Taught at Oceanside Junior High School - 74-78

Worked at the Painted Pony the extended summer of 1971, long before Rachel Ray intruded on the area.

My friends were running the Cabin in the Pines Restaurant on 9N just a mile for so east of the Pony entrance.

Visited friends in the Lake George, Stony Creek, Lake Luzerne, Round Lake, Clifton Park areas.

Moved to Fairfax County, VA, in 1978

Worked for FCPS for 28 years, retiring in July, 2006.

Chantilly HS, West Springfield HS, Lake Braddock HS, Carl Sandburg MS, Robinson High School, Human Resources.

    Now, any Delaware connections?

John- that is a fantastic story! I live half a mile from Van Patten golf course and I work in Colonie.

Yes "downtown" Clifton Park is built up and there are tons of hotels for sure.  But it is a nice place to live.

I have always liked it there and still wonder "what if?".

Are you from Clifton Park? Cause I haver never known ANYONE to know that word if you aren't local!

This answer may turn out to be longer than you ever expected (or wanted)!

So, I'm currently vacationing in Maine. I met a young family and they asked where I was from. I told them Delaware and asked the same of them. They said "upstate New York." I already had a feeling when I asked what town. The wife was a graduate of Shendehowa; the husband, nearby. I wowed them with my knowledge of the area.

I was born in East Harlem, and moved to Long Island. The extended journey began in 1969 visiting a friend in Round Lake. He worked for Shenendehowa Schools, eventually running the Boces program. In 1971, another friend's family opened the Cabin in the Pines restaurant  on 9N in Lake Vanare right across from Kastner's Cabins. My future wife and I worked at the Painted Pony Dude Ranch. Their son, my friend, soon started the Stony Creek Band. They just had a 50th anniversary concert & celebration at Caffe' Lena's in the Springs. My wife's best friend in high school bought the Stoney Creek in and still runs it today.

My visits to Round Lake would take me to the Van Patten golf course. I guess it's still there. My visits to the Lake Luzerne area also continued.

In 1978, I had a career choice to make. I wanted to leave Long Island and had a choice of teaching postions in Fairfax County, VA, or Shenendehowa where my friend worked. I selected Virginia because most of my wife's family had relocated there.

In 1980, the Clifton Park irony began. My in-laws told us they had discovered this wonderful town of Clifton Park and were moving there. It was if they didn't know we were quite familiar with the area. They moved to Hollandale Apartments and later bought a home on Cranberry. Then, one of her brothers bought a house on Acorn. A few months later, another brother bought a house on Elm. Then her sister moved into a rented home on Sonnet (?), I can't remember for sure.

Dozens of visits brought us to the area for decades. We've attended two weddings, two funerals, and one baptism at Saint Edward the Confessor. One nephew on my wife's side owns a home in CP. Two other nephews live in the area. Her brother has moved from CP to Malta.

I was last up about 4 years ago. Amazing how Clifton Center Road is now the hotel capital of the world. Back in the day, it was just the Best Western. Tempes Fuget.

And I know how to pronounce Colonie!
