  1. So after I was told the cruise was cancelled I did a lift and shift to a cruise next year and the nerve that Royal Caribbean wants to charge me $100 for the tax increase.   They moved from one ship to another and then cancelled and expects people who have been completely inconvenienced to actually pay taxes on the difference.  I am becoming less of a fan of Royal Caribbean every day.  Not sure if others feel the same way.

  2. I did not get a letter and thanks to this web site I was able to confirm the cruise got cancelled.  I am a little disappointed that we could not move it to July 31st, as our travel agent was told their was no rooms on that sailing.  This is the third cruise we had cancelled and it is becoming pretty routine.  I agree that this will become come place.  People will be positive, even those who are vaccinated.  It in inevitable a passenger or crew member will be positive.  With the vaccine the hospitalization rate is pretty low, but people will get this virus and just go through a few days of not feeling well.  if the objective is for no positive cases we may never cruise ever again.

  4. I am on the phone with our Travel Agent and he is being told that the Independence of the Seas for July 3rd is being offered to the Odyssey of the Seas on July 6th out of Miami.  Same itinerary, but different ship and leaving July 6th instead of July 3rd.  If others can confirm this is the case it would be greatly appreciated.  I told him in a second I would change to a brand new ship with the same room but leaving a different day.  Please let me know if everyone is hearing the same thing.

Reality check.  July is dead and early August is on life support.

Royal seems to want to do the test cruise route in order to have more kids on board, but by doing so it lengthens the time that revenue cruises will start back up.  The 95% route on some ships would act as a bandaid and bring revenue in quicker.  Cruise itineraries that have a smaller percentage of kids should have gone the 95% route and kids would be cut off once the threshold was met.  It seems like Royal wants to appeal to the families, but by doing so it is pushing back the resumption of cruising.

If the cancelled all Independence of the Seas they have not told those who are actually booked.  I still have the cruise on my account which is slated for July 3rd.  it would be nice if they actually cancelled these cruises they would tell those booked so we can get a refund or apply them to a future cruise.

It's clear they are operating this way to hold on to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ as long as possible.

You would think that after a pandemic and sailing will resume eventually they want to keep those who are loyal.  I guess the mighty dollar is more important to them then keeping their customers happy.  They need to learn something about the travel industry and how to keep folks from coming back.  I am pretty sure after this experience and maybe this cruise whenever it happens I will take my money somewhere else.  When enough people do the same thing, maybe they will look back at what they are doing and see what they did was wrong.

  7. I just talked to Royal Caribbean and basically have been told that since my cruise on July 3rd is 8 days their is no way it will be sailing, but I cannot do anything because it has not been officially cancelled.  Unless they cancel the cruise I am not eligible for the 125% FCC.  I am not sure what additional information they need to cancel, but if they know the cruise is not sailing they should do the right thing.  I have been a loyal of Royal Caribbean for a long time, but this mess has really soured my like for them and I probably will never sail with them ever again.

Have they responded to the emails?

They have here is the contents.  Pretty much a standard pre-written response

    Hello Rubin,

Thank you for your return email and additional comments

Your feedback is very important, and I appreciate the time you have taken to share your thoughts regarding your upcoming cruise.

While we cannot guarantee what’s to come due to the fluidity of the situation, we are communicating with our guests at all times of what is to come.

As of right now, we have not made any changes to our July sailings. I know this may not be the response you were hoping for and for that, I am truly sorry.

Once again, we are committed to keeping you up to date with the latest information we receive.

Rubin, we wish you and your family all the best.

    Sincerely,

  9. I have written multiple emails to the executive staff and for them not to cancel cruises when test cruises are not even happening until late July or August is completely negligent on their behalf.  I hope they understand the negative PR they are creating by leaving people with few choices.  My sailing is on July 3rd and based on the new test sailing I would say their is almost 0% percent we sail.  Also that fact the Independence is not even in Florida.  It is almost like they want to hold on to our money versus given people choices in future.

    I noticed that too.

I will say while I agree what the company is doing to us passengers is awful, its not the "customer service" department's fault.  I don't think a single person who is answering calls from frustrated people is enjoying their job right now and they certainly aren't the ones making the decisions about sailings.  They're treating their own employees like garbage if you think about it.  They let these people day in and day out take on angry customers because of their own poor business decision.  The top brass aren't dealing with the stress and anger call after call.  Please if you do call keep that in mind.

So I do agree that maybe their customer service is not to blame, but the upper management is completely to blame.  They know based on CDC guidelines, time to get shipped into ports, etc. if they can cruise in July.  Every other cruise line is making sure customers are giving ample time to make alternative plans.  Not sure if I will ever cruise with Royal Caribbean after ships sail back.  I want to provide my son a nice graduation gift, but I am not rich enough to afford 2 vacations.

  11. Royal Caribbean customer service has to be the worst in the industry.  For them not to tell us for a July 3rd sailing that we are cancelled it complete nonsense.  I have not booked a hotel at the port or parking because I do not want to deal with  refunds without knowing we are actually going or not.  For not to have an idea of July cancellations by now is completely ridiculous.  It is almost like they want to hold onto our money until the last possible moment.  For them to leave families in uncertainty is crazy.  I want to take my family to celebrate my son's High School graduation and really cannot afford 2 vacations if this one is not cancelled.  Royal Caribbean, please act like you care about your customers and make a decision one way or another.

  12. This has been the most frustrating point.  They almost do not care that without any notification we can make alternative plans.  It is becoming almost impossible to book hotels and other vacation alternatives without knowing if the cruise will be a go or no go.  Agree that their customer service is extremely poor and they seem to give the same answer.  They keep telling the do not know anything additional.  It almost looks like they want to keep our money until the last moment.  Our cruise is on July 3rd and we are 36 days out, but not to give any guidance either way has been infuriating.

This trip was for my son's graduation and I would like to plan something before he heads off to college.  Our original cruise was changed to the Independence of the Seas and the itinerary is very favoring.

I sent an email to the office of the CEO and was given the same answer.  I wish they would step up and cancel or tell us we are going.  This type of no comment will hurt their customer satisfaction, but at this point I am not sure they care.

  13. We have a booking out of Miami on July 3rd on the Independence of the Seas.  I would say it is probably 75% - 25% that early July bookings will be cancelled.  Not sure why Royal Caribbean is waiting until the last moment to make a decision either way.  This is for my son's graduation gift and would like to have something to give him.  And since the cruise we are on is not even offered as this was a change already, do anyone have any options that I could pursue.

  14. I volunteered for the Pfizer study and got my last shot in October and had no side affects from either shot.  My wife just got her second shot today.  I believe in science and the vaccine is safe.  I understand how fast it came up but when we are at war time was not a luxury we had.  Please be safe.  I cannot wait till my son has the opportunity to get vaccinated

  15. My brother booked a 14 Barcelona / Portugal relocation cruise next November.  I decided to join him on theLegend as this will be family event and I have never been to Spain and Portugal. Their will be the last 6 days at see in the North Atlantic in November. I have never cruised across the Atlantic and in November. How bad are we looking at the weather or should I not be worried.

    Thanks

  16. I called today and wanted to move our March cruise to January of 2022 and Norwegian would not only not give us the same perks but wanted to charge me more.  You would have thought they would be doing everything in their power to keep loyal customers but rather it seems they are doing the opposite.

i just things will not be back to normal next March and wanted to have price of mind.  Not sure what they are thinking but it does not seem like they understand we are in a pandemic.

    what do other think

  17. I got an email that under our Piece of Mind that we would have the FCC credit and my TA checked with the cruise line and only our excursions where their. I called NCL and the lady said I had to go through my TA.  I also have not seen any of the other things supposedly that should be given back to my credit card.  What should I do.

  18. Our cruise is actually July 4th. I need to change my signature. We were originally scheduled for June but are moving in the end of May. I, however booked before the policy change. The policy change is effective July 3rd. The show is on my birthday so it was nice they gave it to me. I do appreciate NCL stepping up.
