"Premium" beverage package? Was this what Princess now calls the "Premier Beverage Package"?
-
The princess announcement made me so happy. I am a beer snob! also I brew beer. And I like beers. I have always complained to Princess on the reviews they request, that it looked like princess hates beer. They made an attempt with Seawitch was pretty terrible. I just hope that when I leave on the 23rd that the new beers will be there.

Lots of help IF they force me to have the caps off. The caps pointed to by partybarbie are pretty cool.
But I'm still looking to see if the practice of removing all the caps has become fleet wide.

apparently, there is no Parmesan bowl Alfredo anymore...
We enjoyed it in April of 2016 on Regal, but in Nov 2016 it was absolutely horrible on Caribbean princess.
Sad but true, I miss the Parmesan bowl

This might be worth the investment. https://www.thespruce.com/beer-savers-review-353037
Interesting, thanks

When we were on the Star earlier this year at the happy hour the would not leave caps on a beer so I could take it back to the room. the head waiter in charge of the wheelhouse said it was a new policy. Anyone else experienced this? we are sailing soon on the Emerald.

On the beer front, not sure about the Caribbean, but on the Crown, also in the UK. They've had Bath Ales 'Gem' beer.

For the guys from the US, it's probably similar to Sam Adams. Which you guys consider a lager, but we in the UK would consider an Ale.
That is promising, On US based cruises I have had Newcastle Brown on tap and a version of Bass Ale (brewed in the US).

A couple of questions for anyone who has been on a recent British Isles cruise.
Do they still have happy hour BOGO (for a dollar)?
How about the beer selection, any UK or European selections?
-
I am Cruising "British Isles" on the "Caribbean Princess" on August and was wondering if Princess upgraded the beer selection when in the UK?
-
Hello all, we are sailing from Southampton, Any good ways to get there from LHR?
-
Well that is promising

What beers are served on the British isle cruises? Being somewhat of a beer snob I'm hoping for something local.

My brother asked for Escargot in the HC and was told they did not have any.
Tony
Was that while they were serving it in the MDR?
-
On formal nights I find that they have some foods that are not found in the buffet. Things like Escargot. What I heard is that you can ask for them in the buffet and they will get it for you. Anyone ever experience this?

Thank everyone for the replies. Glad to hear things are fine on the "better" ships.

I am also going to echo the Fantasy class distinction. First- you really just booked this cruise to see how Carnival is doing? Calling flat out BS on that. Second- I suppose this goes with the first point- why would somebody book an old small Carnival ship to see how Carnival is coming along? Of course it sucked compared to newer bigger ships in any fleet. That certainly did not take a rocket scientist to figure out. Not really sure what you are trying to do here except make Carnival look bad.
I am not trying to make Carnival look bad, just asking questions about the changes I have seen and wondering if they were fleet wide. I would expect that Carnival would have pretty much the same stuff I talked about on the entire fleet. I never implied that it "sucked" just observations and questions.

Carnival Imagination 4 day cruise May 2016
I had not cruised on Carnival since 2009 and have been mostly on Princess since then. I took this short cruise to see if the things I liked on Carnival were still there.
In my experience the food on Carnival is very good. Some ethnic varieties even on such a small ship. We loved the Mongolian Grill and the Deli I prefer this over what Princess does. I will say the Princess dining room menu might be a little superior but not enough to make a difference to me..
I did find some of the things in our cabin quite different from what we had experienced in the past.
Like no refrigerator and not even a ice bucket. On Princess our bucket was refreshed each day and even stored in the refrigerator I seem to remember having both of these on prior Carnival cruises. Is this the same on the longer voyages or bigger ships?
No Chocolates on pillow at turndown
Breakfast room service had nothing warm (except the coffee) not even the Lox and Bagels I remember from the past. The “room service” menu had charges for all most items, when did this change?
Condition of ship was good public areas very nice and in good condition,. Good entertainment and activities geared toward a short trip.
I am pretty much a beer snob, I had no problem with the very good selection. Wife and her friend had a martini sampler that was real fun. Never was offered a “bucket-of-beer”, Is that still offered? The Princess has a “happy hour”and it is a plus for them, but not one on Carnival. One other thing is the draught beer on Princess uses a special system that insures good even pours with little or no waste It is called “brewlock” and only available for Heineken and Newcastle. The draft beer on Carnival was flat and had a lot of it go down the drain.
I’m hoping the bigger Carnival ships still have all the things I was missing.
Any comments about my questions would be appreciated.

When in port, do you have to pay the local "port tax? or is that included in the Bev package?
