Enjoying your story. We'll be on the ship this Saturday.

What's the deal with the bathroom lights that you need painters tape?

How early did you arrive to be one of the first onboard?

    Thanks in advance.

This was so bad the first night! There's a motion sensor that turns the light on, and during the night it's so bright! Our steward covered it up for us.

  2. I'll be on this sailing! Leaving in the morning and staying at the Embassy Suites on 17th street. I'm beyond excited. This will be our second time on Enchanted, and we'll be on her again in October! In fact, the cabin we're in this time will be the very same one my parents are in come October. 🤣

Bob and I will be racing up to the Sanctuary to reserve a cabana. Not sure for which day but we definitely plan to spend a day up there.

20/40 half/full dau, $30 full day if booked for entire cruise.  For all ships except Sun.

Sun: space available, $79 port day, $99 sea day. Half days currently not an option.

These aren't the prices for the cabanas...this may be the loungers.

I usually kept all of my old cruise cards in a box at home (even have a couple that go back to when they just had cardboard ID cards).  Now, I just keep the old medallions in the same box.  But, along the way, I've learned of one really good reason to keep these things:  Every now and then, the cruise lines screw up on your old cruise history...and though YOU know you are only "x" number of cruises from the next club level, they've somehow got it wrong...but you can prove to them that they are missing crediting you for a cruise by sending them a photo of your cruise card for that cruise...and, now, I guess a photo of that medallion would do the same thing.  Doesn't happen often, but it happens!!

I have a container with every cruise card/Medallion I or my husband ever had (minus one that got lost, dangit!) and I know that's very Hoarder-ish of me, but it doesn't take up any room in a drawer, really. My first ever Carnival Sail and Sign card from 1997 is in a scrapbook.

Have you checked to make sure his Captains Circle number is correct on the booking? If it is, it’s just a glitch and there’s no need to worry.  He can ask them to put a sticker on it onboard but the color won’t make a difference in any situation.

I finally was able to talk to someone and YES! This was the issue! It was one number off and she fixed it online. She said the Medallion itself can be corrected on board. I know it doesn't matter, ultimately, what color the Medallion actually is, but I was worried there was some other issue and I'm glad I found out!

  6. We got our Medallions today! Mine is Gold and my husband’s also should be but it’s Blue. Has this ever happened to anyone? Will they send a new one? I haven’t been able to get anyone from Princess on the phone.

I'm seriously considering that last minute 30 day Tahiti/Hawaii/SP crossing cruise on Majestic Princess, but the thought of 30 days in inside cabin scares me. I've only been on one cruise with X and had balcony, so a bit spoiled.  I'm traveling solo and basically a hermit who doesn't drink or really socialize, but would like to see some of the ports and the price seems really good.

Any thoughts on this cruise situation would be appreciated.

I have no helpful input on the cabin because my claustrophobia requires me to have at least a window, I just wanted to chime in and say you're living my dream! A last-minute 30 day cruise to Tahiti and Hawaii. 😍 I absolutely want to be you someday.

That's fine as long as a person doesn't travel for next couple (few) months from "two weeks before it expires" time.  That's (potentially) actually, the best situation.

Two weeks was an arbitrary number...I meant there will always be those people who don't pull out their passport until they're packing for the trip (days before) and realize they're way past the window of acceptability (3 months, 6 months, whatever it is) and suddenly need to expedite a renewal. That will happen whether they're valid for 10 years, 12 years, 20 years...

  9. 2 hours ago, kirtihk said:

I always wonder why it is 10 years; it should be 10.5.  Then real number of years would be actually 10 years.  Currently, last 6 months are meaningless for people who travel within that time.

In reality it should be 10.75 years, so people would be able to apply for renewal in 10 years and get a new passport in about 3 months or less.

Because people will still wait until two weeks before it expires to renew it, no matter how long it is valid. Procrastinators gonna procrastinate!

  10. We saw SO MUCH wildlife on our 8-hour bus tour of Denali NP. It had snowed the day before and the tour guide says that really brings them out. I still get excited every time I see deer and rabbits and hawks in my own back yard, so I was beside myself with all the moose, bears, dall sheep, etc in the park, and then the reindeer, sled dogs and pups, eagles, and whales during the rest of the trip. I can't wait to go back next year!

  11. We did an Alaska cruisetour with Holland America back in 2017 and it was fantastic. No, the hotels and lodges weren't luxurious by any means, but they weren't disgusting at all. And we spend so little time there that we didn't care. We loved the train. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but it sounds like your expectations were a little too high. That's the good thing about places like Cruise Critic...you can come here to find out more about your trip and possibly temper those expectations a bit.

We have and Alaska cruisetour booked for September 2025 and I can't wait.

I am usually a 'girl who wants to have fun'...

    But...  ducks????

On this I am a 'curmudgeon'...    Sorry....

I see this like any other thing when there are those who think they can make their own use of a general public space.

I guess I don't really care about your duck, what it looks like, where you are from, etc...

I guess people just think they have to 'leave their mark'.

My motto is Leave No Trace.

If a cruise line wanted to organize hide-and-seek events on certain days...  go for it!!!

    But, I see this differently.

Yeesh. I think the ducks are silly, too, but people enjoy them. With the world the way it is, can we let people enjoy things? My mom always talked about "Little Treasures"...little things that seemed insignificant or downright silly to some, but for her, right at that moment, either distracted her from her troubles or made her happy.

Let people have their Little Treasures. You never know what kind of day someone is having or how badly they might need a tiny, duck-shaped, sliver of joy and connection right in that moment. That's why I'll leave any ducks I find right where they are...it doesn't bring me joy, so I'll leave it for the person it's meant to find.

  13. I don't love the ducks, and I have zero reason for that. It's just not something I see the point of for myself. I do appreciate that other people find big joy in them, and that part is nice. I like for people to have fun! So rest assured that if I ever see any ducks (funny enough, I've never found one!) I will leave it to be found by someone who will be thrilled by it.

Food is not subjective. It is bad. Cold food is not subjective. You are saying some people might find it hot?   Under cooked rawsteak can not be subjective Quit defending Princess.

That's not what subjective means. Some people might not mind cold food. I happen to prefer my steak very rare, which to you is "undercooked" and "raw" so yes...it can be subjective. There's no single, correct way to cook, serve, eat, or enjoy food. Every person has a different preference and opinion, which makes it SUBJECTIVE. Objective would mean that there is one correct and one incorrect way to do something, and that doesn't apply here at all.

  15. I've only been in the Reserve Dining Room, so I don't know the size of the regular ones. What I can say is that it's a separate area by the windows of a regular dining room. I'd say there's maybe 30-50 tables? It's just a separated section of a bigger dining room, it's not a whole separate room.

If I remember correctly, it's in the Capri Dining (Deck 6, Fiesta) room just to the right of the doors on the port side. Like the front port-side corner is the Reserve Dining area.

As you may have read above in this thread, it is a new policy/procedure change implemented by Princess around first of August (timing varied by ports).  For some unknown reason, they have designated the Green Lane only for those guests with Medallions in hand and everyone else has to use Blue Lane - no matter how Ocean Ready one is.  There is also supposed to be a Gray Lane for special needs guests.

I wondered if it was new. Last October I was Green Lane and picked up my Medallion at the port.

I booked a last minute cruise. I am stuck in Blue Lane. I think the problem is with the medallion order. I selected a generic medallion and generic lanyard and said that I would pick it up at the pier (no charge). I don't have Plus on this trip (not yet, still undecided but if I get it, it will be on the ship). I will be doing a land trip for a week before the cruise so I don't want it shipped to my house.

I can't get out of Blue Lane. Any tips?

I discovered that if you opt to pick it up at the pier, you'll stay in the Blue Lane. It even says it, "You can pick it up in the Blue Lane at the pier." Once I changed to have it shipped to me, I was in the Green Lane.

If you really want a treat try the Royal Tea on the royal class ships. It has a $10 charge, or at least used to, but it is very swanky! You get a lot of food and a different tea with each course. It is in the Piazza on a certain day and you have to sign up for it in advance. I hope since COVID it's actually still operating. It was fantastic!

My husband and I did the Royal Tea on Royal Princess on our honeymoon. It was so nice and we enjoyed it a lot! We'll do it again anytime it's offered on a ship we're on.

I just print them out, which they will want a paper copy

of each GC and go to GS usually the second day.  Make sure to print the card showing the number and the pin.

I put them with my cruise

    documents.

I'd be buying them at Kroger, so they will be physical gift cards. I'll be sure to keep them with all my other cruise paperwork so I don't forget them!

If you booked through a TA/CVP then they can add them to your account.  Some will and some won’t.

If you booked directly with PCL, then you would call them, unless it allows you to add them.

If you have to call, I’d wait until Monday after 6 am PT, to call and get an experienced agent, if possible.  It seems to be a complicated process for them?

I will only take mine OB and add to my account at GS, after all the problems I had trying to get PCL to add them precruise.

Although, I had to take a chance the excursion was still open.

    YMMV

    Let us know.

Thank you for this! Kroger is having a bonus fuel points promotion on gift cards and I was considering getting some to apply to OBC.

  21. Echoing what everyone else is saying...you need to basically teleport yourself to the Sanctuary to even have a chance. I will add that I think splurging for a cabana is so worth it if you have the means to do so. We did one during a port day (again, like someone said upthread...a stop we'd already been to several times) and it was so relaxing and posh.

If I might ask, when you say "rebooked", do you mean rebooked where you got a new booking number or refared where you kept the same booking number (and cabin)?

Sorry! Re-fared! We definitely kept the same booking number. She just went in and worked her magic to give us the different price. Everything remained exactly the same, even my pre-purchased excursions and OBC.
