  1. Seems strange that they would want to charge you anything. They are going to have an empty cabin either way. Surely it does not make any difference to them. I have had people change cabins in the same category on a ship before. I had just never thought to try and get an upgrade.

  2. Never heard of that.

HAL used to have a ship building contest, if that's what you're referring to, but those ended quite a while back. The idea was to build a "ship" from materials found aboard, and see if it was sea-worthy by adding cans of soda and turning the whirlpool on full blast.

I did a search on the entire HAL Forum and see they just had the ship building contest on a cruise over this Halloween so they do still do it. Just wondering which ships.

  3. What a great thread. We did the Dream in Jan and broke even with the program. We only had one Sea Day where we were even close to the limit.

Here is my question. I saw the post about getting extra keys but I was wondering...we are cruising with another couple and the guys will definately get their money out of the program. Can you go to guest services and have the room situation straightened out after buying the program?

  4. Does anyone know if they have the murder mystery on the Dream? We were just on the Valor and it was in the Fun Times and then there were clues all week long. I missed out on the initial meeting so I want to be sure to make it this time if they have it.

I was wondering the same thing!

Great Thread. I have a group going in Jan and this will give them a ton to keep them busy until then.

One other question. Is the Steakhouse the only place you have to pay extra to eat? I have a few Sushi fans with us and want to make sure that is included.

  5. Luggage express is really helpful when entering ports in continental US-never having to see them from midnight in hall until home ailrine luggage claim area. In San Juan you claim bags- then walk thru spot you hand customs declaration then say 50yards to designated airline checkin counters. No need to drag luggage to load in cab or check in. In San Juan that can save a lot of time. We have always stopped at USDA with carryons and I'm not sure what the actual rule is, but my own experience is that sometimes the person operating the USDA station wants the carry on bags to go through the USDA x-ray while other times the operator didn't want them to go through. Perhaps it depends on the size of the bag? Max line there has been 15min- vs what can be really long lines at checkin counters. Hope this helps. IMO I will use Luggage Express anytime I qualify for it, the express service also provides boarding passes.

Oh now that sounds great. If I can get my boarding pass on the ship and avoid the check in counter all together that is VERY WORTH IT!!!!

    Thanks!!!

  6. Also luggage express (valet) service can you tell me cut off times for earliest flight?

    Thanks.

I have a question about this to. I have read the other posts, do you have to take your carry on through the USDA line and if so is there any advantage other than not having to haul your luggage around to using the luggage express. If it is not saving me a line I am wondering if it is worth the price.

  7. just remember as a dark side player you should stand in the corner of the table and try and remain very quiet when you win. The dark side can be a very lonely place

That is what we talked about. I told him that I would pass the dice as has been mentioned and not jump up and down when they crap out.

I have been trying the dark side on wizard of odds and it seems that I don't do that much better either way. Is that because that is a total random generator? It sure seems like it goes on long rolls way more often than the odds would suggest.

  8. No, I do not. I simply stop betting and watch. When the time is right I go back in. Plus, remember if someone has a very hot roll I am usually out of that decision because all my don't points were probably rolled anyway so I wait for the next shooter anyway. And chances are the next shooter isn't gonna roll 20 times in a row like the last guy. But in general, no I don't bet right, ever.

Ok..I was talking to a friend that is going with us and told him that I was thinking of betting dark and he was a little stressed out. He said that he always is looking to promote the positive energy on the table. I think I am throwing in with you...I would rather pay for my cruise!!!!

  9. Most people won't. They will actually remove their bet from the don't pass line and wait for a decision to be made. I think that is a dumb move though in my opinion. The seven is still more likely to come out and the payout on the odds is higher if the seven is rolled before the 6 or the 8. If someone is too chicken to ride it out, then don't play the dark side. Bok bok bok bok!!!!! Cluck, Cluck, Cluck!

I laugh at those fools that pull off their 5 dollar bet because they are worried they are gonna lose it. Come on. Have some balls here! LOL!

Thanks for both answers. We cruise on the victory in January and I know that as cold as I have seen the tables on cruises, and for reasons listed by cruzincurt, I am REALLY leaning to betting dark.

Now be honest if you go in and a table is hot you don't ever bet right?????
