If you are flying, then I would think about a hotel that includes parking during a cruise, and search with the phrase "long beach hotel cruise package".

Nope - Driving up the morning of. We are only an hour and a half away from the port. No need to not sleep in my own bed 🙂

  2. Does anyone know, is there anyway to pay Long Beach structure parking (the $23 a day by the Carnival old Spruce Goose Dome) ahead of time? I just like to have everything prepaid and taken care of and this is my one outlier. Thanks in advance for the information!

Vallarta will demand vaccines and PCR from cruise passengers

Found the link to share with my group. Thanks! Will be interesting to see how Carnival reacts because it is a <5% cruise not 100% like the article says. Doesn't affect me, I am vaccinated as are my friends on the sailing. However wonder if we will have a revision on ports of call. 🙂

  4. I got a Gold level specific email same concept. Sailing 8/21.

    VIFP GOLD GUESTS UPDATE

    Dear Valued Gold Guests,

This communication is being sent to our booked Gold guests.  It is independent from any request our guests might have pending for an exemption to vaccine requirements, and the receipt of this communication is not any indication of the status of your request.

We are eager to get back to cruising and want to thank you for the loyalty and support you have shown Carnival.

As we plan for the restart of our operations, we want to make you aware of the new way you will redeem your VIFP amenities.  These changes were designed in accordance with our new Have Fun. Be Safe. protocols to minimize the number of stateroom deliveries, while making it easier for you to collect some of your benefits.

Moving forward, VIFP amenities will be linked to your Sail & Sign folio for electronic redemption.  Simply claim your benefit using your Sail & Sign card and a one-time credit for that item will be posted on your folio and will be visible on your statement.

    Complimentary Beverages
    • 1.5L Bottled Water – redeemable from any bar
    • “Gold” Beverage (on 5+ day Cruises) – redeemable from any bar on the last sea day after 5PM
    Carnival Ship Pin

To collect your Carnival ship pin, please visit the Photo Gallery with your Sail & Sign.  We encourage you to claim your gift no later than two days prior to the end of your cruise.

We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through our restart plans.  Your continued support means a lot to us and our great staff and crew can’t wait to welcome you back on board!

It’s not crystal clear that insurance companies are required to cover RAPID testing.  And it is crystal clear from CVS website you cannot self pay for rapid testing.  So please pump the brakes on your enthusiasm until you are sure insurance = free rapid.  A link would be best.

    Link for CVS saying free

to even go on the cruise now I have to pay for a test?  No, that's not fair.  (I know most will lie and get their tests free but travel testing is generally not free.)

From the CVS website (And offering appointments for both antigen and PCR) concerning testing : COVID-19 testing is performed at no cost to you. Health insurance companies are required to cover 100% of the cost. If you have insurance, we will ask for those details. If not, we may ask for your Social Security number or driver's license/state ID in order to bill the federal program for the uninsured. In either case, you will owe nothing out of pocket.

I do not disagree you should be allowed to change/refund since they have changed the rules; however testing is free. Just need to make an appointment

  7. Perfect! Thanks Hank, That is what I was trying to decipher. Certainly want to follow local rules etc. But also want to protect myself. I had heard vaccinations were hard to get in Mexico early on. I wasn't sure what that looked like now. 🙂 Thanks for the info!

  8. When I called last, was on hold for just over an hour, which while annoying, to be fair we did have the carnival rep on the phone for over an hour, rebooking, transferring, fixing credits, and verifying OBC for us. It was a long process, but sitting with a friend having cocktails, planning a future cruise, with the hold music on speaker is not a bad way to spend an afternoon. I just take it as part of the "experience" and to be fair, the carnival reps are AMAZING every time I have to make a call. With everything changing on a daily basis, I cannot even imagine these poor folks at the end of the day trying their best to accommodate all of these changes.

  9. I have done this itinerary gads of times, so I am fine not getting off the boat if there are restrictions, outbreaks, or any other fun surprises 🙂 Just wondering if there was any specific info for first sailings to these ports since COVID. Guess I should have been more clear on that LOL

    Thanks for the write up!

  10. Hey everyone! Quick Question - I know Carnival's first cruise back to the Mexican Riviera is Aug 21-28 Panorama(which I am booked on). Are any other lines going prior to that? I understand things change on a daily basis, but just curious on the masking/opening/restrictions/etc. in Cabo, Mazatlán, and PV from the cruise perspective or are we the guinea pig sailing? LOL Trying to decide if I want to get off the boat or not 🙂

    Thanks all and happy sailings!

  11. Our bartender last week on the Splendor told us they have the straws you just have to ask for them now. She said she heard a rumor they were going to switch over to paper "soon".

As I said, just a rumor but that's what I heard.

  12. I'm with you! I love to have options, and I love to wear a nice dress at dinner every night and a different formal gown on each formal night. My DH brings a tux and several suit jackets and pants as well. I bring quite the collection of shoes too..... sparkly dressy heels, comfy sandals, workout and running shoes, flip flops ... I think my last cruise I had at least a dozen pairs. Dressing up and with variety is part of the fun of cruising for us!

Chronic Over-packer here too! I like options :') The best was my last cruise we had 3 women in our cabin. We had so many options we considered having a wardrobe change every hour on the hour the last sea day just to say we wore everything LOL

It's easier because we drive to port so don't have to worry about those pesky weight limits

  13. I've got 4 more hours to work before I can go home and get the finishing touches on my packing done tonight. We're driving out tomorrow to catch the Splendor on Saturday.

   ;p

I am on the Splendor Saturday too! Lucky Ducky having Friday off! I still have a full day tomorrow and driving in Saturday morning.... Slowest day ever!!!

  14. After sail away, the duty free shops open. Just go get a carton there. Even if you do not smoke them all, you can take one carton per adult in your party off with you duty free and not have to pay taxes on it .

**Ducks from the attack of the non-smokers** ;p
