  1. No mileage at all there for me... Sorry. Zero.

We are Princess cruisers. Our next cruise will be on the Regal Princess.

And, I am thinking that in some ways, (not all of course), HAL will be a step down.

But when it comes to the basics, the cabin, food, etc.. They seem to be on-par. With slight differences of course.

The HAL itineraries, as mentioned, and the availability of their brand new ship, the Nieuw Statendam, have us placing a deposit on a Mediterranean cruise for 2019.

Actually we are generally HAL cruisers who have tried Princess twice. The entertainment was more varied on Princess but we found that dining, service and ambience were lacking. To each their own.

  2. The library near me closed about 5or 6 years ago. Money savings.. .

Each time you post we should go to the libarary, I think to post some cities and towns have closed libraries but I have resisted doing that until now. I guess I read that direction one too many times. One must live in a particular city or town to get a libar y card there. If the neighb oring city of town chose to save the money, and closed their library too bad! It's all about tax money, I imagine.

It’s so sad to hear of public libraries closing. We are blessed in British Columbia with a vibrant public library system.

  3. Actually we have only travelled twice on Princess. Our first cruise was definitely a disappointment. The entertainment staff was excellent and was the only thing that made this cruise bearable. We usually travel on Holland America and are used to excellent service. We found most of the staff on our first Princess cruise from San Francisco to Honolulu to be very unhappy. Service at the bars was nonexistent and the room stewards were sloppy. The servers in the specialty restaurants were arrogant. The captain was very aloof and I feel he set the tone on the ship. We. Had an incident at sea which caused us to miss the one port we had really wanted to go to. The only compensation was a glass of inferior wine at dinner one night. Granted the problem wasn’t caused by Princess but I felt there should have been more acknowledgement of the guests’ discomfort. Nonetheless, we did do a second Princess cruise out of Houston to Fort Lauderdale. It was much better, but still wasn’t up to HAL standards. We probably won’t go back to Princess unless the itinerary warrants it.
