You must understand that RCL does not care . They want young family's not experienced cruisers.

Only Liberty has a Suite lounge. Concierge lounges are actually MORE crowded than diamond lounges because D+ have access too

Since when does the Brilliance have a Suite lounge , to my knowledge it has a Concierge and Diamond Club.

This is a brief review of my December 11 Oasis of the Seas sailing. We are a mature Diamond Plus couple on our 50th cruise – 40th with RCCL – fourth time on Oasis. Number 50 turned out to be lucky in one respect; we received our first ever upgrade from a D4 ocean view balcony to a junior suite. I have heard of first-time cruisers and many others receiving upgrades/upsells, but never us until now. This was great I thought!
I only took a few photos with my little point and shoot since I have a gazillion from my past Oasis sailings.
I find Port Canaveral a most inconvenient port to cruise from if you are flying in (but yet I have two more booked from there). We did a package with shuttle pickup from MCO, overnight at Hilton Cocoa Beach, shuttle from the Hilton to the cruise port, and transportation from the cruise port back to MCO. Next time I plan to try something different as it is not fun traveling around to four or five different hotels cramped up in a van for an hour or so if you happen to be the last ones out. Post cruise it was a long wait for our bus to show and the representative failed to notify us when the bus arrived as promised. We just happened to inquire and made it on at the last minute.
On cruise morning we traveled around to different hotels picking up folks and then to different ships dropping off folks. Just not ideal.
Cabin:
We had junior suite 8630. It was not on the hump and had the smaller balcony. No loungers. The walk-in closets on Oasis class are not as large as Voyager and Freedom class but still a walk-in. It was very quiet until our neighbors went out on their balcony and started yelling. I requested and received an egg crate topper as the bed was extremely hard.
Here is what we found as Diamond Plus welcome items when we arrived in our cabin
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (except a letter welcoming us as Gold members)!
No Diamond Plus welcome letter
No letter from concierge
No three free drinks paperwork
No invitation to Top Tier Event
No tour invites
No meal with an officer invite
No welcome drinks as selected
No welcome water
No welcome fresh baked cookies
No upgraded toiletries (have never gotten these on any of my several sailings since reaching 340 points)
This is when I began asking - what am I, chopped liver?
I asked our cabin attendant where our welcome items were and he said he did not know and I needed to go to Guest Services. I asked him to check in the cabin we had initially booked and he said no. I knew not to go to Guest Services and instead waited until the Loyalty Ambassador arrived in late afternoon and got in line to inquire. He showed no concern at all and took notes. Chopped liver.
We still received nothing so the next day I spoke to the concierge who showed a little sympathy and took more notes. She did print her letter and a Diamond Plus welcome letter for us. Their excuse was it was due to our upgrade about a week prior to our cruise. Come on, it isn’t rocket science; just go to the booked cabin and move the stuff to the new one. We eventually received our drinks, water, and some cookies that anyone can pick up at the Windjammer. Never received any invitations to anything. Yep, chopped liver.
Chopped Liver : I would think that by now you would realize that they do not want the mature , loyal customer any longer. They want the young families with many kids to spend money. Mature cruisers may cruise more often but we look for the best prices and spend very little on their ships. Now which do you think RCL wants ??.. Now if you were a Pinnacle and was having your food cut, you would love every minute of it and I'm sure say it was deserved for your loyalty. Just sit back and chill or go to an upscale line .

There was 9 Pinnacle Club members on Serenade. They held court every evening on the stage area of the CL.
You should get there before them and taken their spot. That would be hilarious ! :):):)

That was true on recent Grandeur cruise, BUT, bring tweezers to dinner so you can pick them up. Magnifying glass wouldn't hurt either.
George in NY
Same in Chops ! The jumbo shrimp are nowhere to be found . :(

Just off the Brilliance, many menu changes and not all for the good . :(

I was recently offered an upgrade and think i may have made a mistake by choosing a cabin on the 13th floor. Mainly because I liked the idea of being one floor away from all the fun on the 14th floor.
Now I'm reading lots of blogs/articles that warn against these floors due to the noise from above. After looking at the deck plans It seems like I'm underneath a section that's right between Johnny rockets and coastal kitchen...but it's not labeled. I'm thinking it might be the kitchen for either but was hoping I might get info from someone who's been on the Anthem.
Should I try to switch this room? I'm ok with noise but don't want an insane amount. I read about water pressure hosing the floor above to clean the floor boards, that sounds like a nightmare! But basic footsteps and such I would be ok with. any advice would be great, thanks! By the way, I will be in room 13648
One of the loudest parts of the ship .

Yep. Several times we've seen people staggering along on the Cozumel dock, and they start to sprint (to no avail) when they see the ship pulling away.
It's called "The Running of the Drunks" Happens each week ,at the same time .

So it looks like they are discounting the price. I have to call, and do not have the time to check.
Got one for the Brilliance out of Tampa on 12/3 :)

The get togethers can be quite interesting. We did the 50th anniv of the D-Day crossing with RCL from England to France and we had a wild bunch of vets on that one. Simply put it was amazing !!:):)
-
Just got mine but my offer is for a free Oceanview
Has anybody gotten through and is it really good on all those dates including the seven night cruises?
I got the same one. Have 3 booked but who knows just might do it . :)
-
Maybe I just dreamed this but I thought I read a few months ago in someone's post that I can't seem to find now that there is a section in the Main Dining Room at breakfast for Diamond Plus/Pinnacle members. Does any know about this or am I crazy? :D
Thanks!
Is the food different in the D+/Pinnacle area or is it just a status thing ? :)

If you use the Amex Platinum card and book a Jr Suite or better you can get a $300 OBC each cruise. If you cruise more than once a year it pays for itself.
Booking a lower category will get less of a credit. These credits are not combinable with other discounts so you need to see what works best in your situation. :)

Well there is a difference between suites and pinnacles. MSC Blacks don't get the free drinks, the yacht club does. Maybe they'll make a true suites lounge with that, and then bump the pinnacles down to the lowly DL/CL.
"lowly DL/CL" my oh my ! WOW !!!

As far as I know it's Michael Rasmussen . Good guy !:)

This may be an odd question but I have booked Anthem for the 4 days Bermuda cruise in 2017 when it is there during the America's Cup ( a bucket list for me). What side of ship will face toward the sea?
Go to the railing, look over railing, if you see water that's the side facing the sea.:):)

We did a land tour of Switzerland and then a transatlantic this past October with Princess. Overall an excellent trip. I will say Princess has better land excursions than RCL and they also win the pizza contest hands down. :):)
-
The travel time from dock to city is fairly accurate. :)
-
No special access. :)
-
Why do you even discuss what level you are ? If you are in the lounge apparently you are entitled to be there. If one asks me how many pts or what C&A level I am my reply is always " not as many as you " and if they don't like it..tough :) :)
-
It can be combined with the BHOHOHO but not the BOGHOOHOO, and not the 30/30 BUGGOO special holiday promo. However perhaps is applicable for the normal 30/30 maybe some days, depending on the current BUGHOOHOO depending on linking regulations. Of course you can always combine it with the sometimes applicable BGGHHeeHeeHaaHaa specials when they may or may not appear on the website. In any of the above situations your Diamond Balcony discount will be reduced anywhere from 30-70%, to be determined by the phase of the moon at booking divided by pi multiplied by the existing BUGHOHOO discount rate.
Finally someone has figured it out !
-
:):)A basic rule of thumb to follow is you get one discount per cruise, no stacking of credits or discounts or whatever you want to call them.
If you want to stack credit's go on Princess. Stockholder, military, senior, passenger referral, and anything else that may be available .

It's a casual world today. A lot of companies don't require dressing up. I say to each there own,but please don't comment on those of us who prefer not to dress up when going to the hot dinning room, then having to back and change into something more comfortable to enjoy the rest of the evening. Gary
If you can comment on being casual I sure can comment on being formal !:p
