  1. Nerdy engineer?!! Well I know you're a good guy cuz you're taking care of your wife and want to stay happily married! :D (I'm happily married to my geek too ;))

Great tip to split the Cats acts - I <3 Broadway and DH enjoys it but given the loose Cats storyline, I was concerned that he'd be squirmy. From the reviews I've read, I'm pretty sure we won't have any issues getting seats without reservations for Act 2 later in the cruise. (y) First time I'd read this strategy.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

    cheers,

    :)

  2. Will be on my first RC at the end of the year so just wanted to glean some Oasis insights/tips, and have to say surprisingly, I'm lovin' your review - and I don't even know if you're Eastern/Western! For some weird reason the voice I'm hearing this read in is Channing Tatum (tho with better marital outcome)...LOL! Appreciate the frankness & menu/food scans/pics!

    cheers,

    :)

  3. Thanks for the comments. Not sure if the Compasses will be applicable to another ship, because they will have different shows. The times may be close if it is an Oasis class ship.

Thx for the tip. Sorry I should have clarified I made my activity spreadsheet based on my ship's CCompass a while ago, then saw you'd done a spreadsheet with MDR too...wow! 😊

    cheers,

    😀

  4. Just wanted to add my thx for a great write up so far - will be on my first RC cruise, and same itin but different ship and still finding this very helpful! I'd already made my activity spreadsheet to determine dining times & venues for each day, but your main dining room menu one is over-the-top awesome! Appreciate the time you took to add detailed instructions for that, and the scans. (y)

    cheers,

    :)

  5. so win win. Feel much better now with how things have transpired. Thanks to the tip about group booking I would never have known and this made me somewhat be ready for it if it happened.

    Thanks all!

Awesome that it all worked out for you - now to the fun of your cruise - woot!

    cheers,

    :)

  6. They said they sent email reply but I didn't get it yet. Then phone rep confirmed denial. I think it just happened at the same time as I was on the phone for a long time and did not check my email. When I got off the phone, the time stamp on my email was about when I started the call.

As for the warehouse TA, I used the chat feature after it said my hold time was 30+ minutes. When I asked the agent to reconfirm that it was a group booking, he actually gave me the name of the group booking so a chat agent should be able to look it up for you.

    cheers,

    :)

  7. You can check with your warehouse TA first to find out if it's a group booking. Whether it is or not, you can still try to redeem your reward as if it doesn't go through, you can easily cancel the reward online and get your mV points back. So only a bit of time lost and all upside otherwise.

And as much as I'd like to have free 100 bucks to spend, the incentives I received from warehouse TA were significantly worth more than $100 so I'm okay with the outcome. (Plus, I repriced with the current 30% off sale just to see and my price was lower by a couple of hundred compared to RC's website.) ;)

    Good luck with yours!

    cheers,

    :)

  8. Thx for the reply & support, poffles! I'll answer my own question for future lurkers...

So even tho the auto-reply email says not to bother them again, I did. It said 48hrs response but after 5 days, with my 30 day window closing tmrw, I wanted to find out so I phoned them. After 56 minutes on hold  I was told it's a no-go as this TA booking is classified as a group booking (even tho I booked just as an individual cruiser).

Of course, I phoned big box so I would know for the future: my cruise is a group booking, but not all RCI sailings that they book have a "group" on them. So using this TA could still get mV OBCs. YMMV. :')

    cheers,

    :)

  9. Has anyone successfully had the MyVegas OBC applied to a cruise bought from the "paid membership big box store that has a great deal on hot dogs"?

I redeemed my voucher, and emailed in my request with all the requested info 4 days ago and received their auto-reply confirmation, but have yet to hear anything back. I'm near day 29 from my booking date so am a bit anxious for ClubRoyale to get back to me.

    Thanks for any insights.

    cheers,

  10. Sorry for being unclear. In my "Included Extras" section of my cruise confirmation email it shows "Dinner at Johnny Rockets®" - I used the word "voucher" because I didn't know how to classify it.

First time on Royal Car. and so a bit unfamiliar with their vernacular, even tho I've been addicted to this subforum recently...LOL!

    cheers,

    :)

ETA: Too slow to post before more posts showed up. I will have dinner at Chops and lunch at Giovanni's and was thinking of getting one of the shortened dining packages to try 150 Central Park, and perhaps one more specialty restaurant. That's why I'd prefer to use the meal at JR during lunch, rather than dinner.

  11. LEMJMcC, thx a mint for the thorough review - much appreciated!

Ugh! Sounds like the changes have really impacted the tour - used to be everyone raved about it. I was really looking fwd to it - too bad they changed it - I'd rather pay an extra $31 for a better tour. My cruise isn't until December so I'll hold off booking with the hopes that others' comments will inspire RC to revert to their previous formula. Dreamer...LOL!

Just curious if they were still giving away the souvenir landyard or apron at the end? (I'd read about this on some trip reports but not sure if they were still doing this before they changed the tour.)

    cheers,

    :)

  12. I know it's been changed from the $150 3-hour version (which was reputedly great) to a $119 version, and am looking for reviews on the new tour offered.

How long was the tour? I know worth is subjective, but was it worthwhile to you?

I noticed the tour is offered on 2 days, 3x/day so 6 times total. How far in advance do you think one should book it?

First time RC cruiser so any insights on this much appreciated!

    cheers,

    :)
