  1. thanks for the replies - hubby works in the cruise sector(security) and he is a good morning/hello type of person - in fact the crew from the ships in our local port are on first name terms with hubby - he calls them Sir

I am looking forward to it as always wanted to do NCL epic, which I have and a MSC - which I will in october

its nice to be nice and I hate rudeness and yes some guests can be quite rude, unpleasant at times

I have noticed cut backs on thomsons ships so happening everywhere, and in so many sectors, just not cruise lines.

The crew work hard and no matter what ship we are on we always ask our cabin crew if going ashore and if the answer is no, then we ask if there is anything they need brought back

    :)

  2. I always tip extra I also take out goodie bags of sweets/candy

Easter sunday last year I took out cadbury easter eggs and handed them out to staff and crew - they were over the moon - one crew member took a photo ad sent home to his daughter saying look what the easter bunny brought me - away so far from home, a silly wee 50p easter egg brought a father and daughter together on easter sunday

It was my birthday and wedding anniversairy the same week - guess what the waiter sent us a bottle of champagne

  3. First time with MSC and on this ship - don't listen to reviews as like to make up my own mind. However latest reviews are not good - bad service and rude staff.

Is it really that bad - this will be my 15th cruise ( Thomsons Fred Olsen, RCC and just off NCL epic which I loved and has been best cruise ship/line so far)

    thanks

  4. As you can see from my signature I tend to stick to the smaller ships and Thomsons - saw Epic one time in port and decided to go on her one day.

Just hope it is not too big for me as didn't care much for RCL.

We got a good deal balcony of my choosing free drinks package and free wifim, which I will probably not use.

Has anyone tried the ice bar, how cold is it really - want to try it

    thanks

  5. Any cruise I have been on I take a goodie bag for cabin steward, waiting staff and bar staff with a thank you card - goes a long way you doing something for them - I also ask if they are not going ashore if they require anything to be brought back

Last year at Easter I handed out Easter eggs to the crew on Easter Sunday - one member took a photo and sent to his daughter - letting her know the Easter bunny had visited him - that is worth more than money and a memory his daughter and him will have forever - guess what on my wedding anniversary a bottle of champagne was put on our table in the bar

  6. Hi - couple of questions - first time sailing with MSC and have booked on the sinfonia,

I have booked outside and TA confirmed it will be on deck 8/9/10 and will be midship or aft ( TA had block bookings of cabins and just missed out on last balcony they had) still got OS for balcony price, should have been dearer.

    1. do cabins have the following fridge, coffee making facilities, soap shampoo etc

    2. drinks package - we have all inclusive drinks package, does that include cider as that is all hubby drinks - have been told you can get it in certain bars on ship, but not all bars?

    thanks

  7. I googled CEO email addresses for UK companies - used to be a free site, think you have to pay now or email the site and tell them why you want the email address - wish you could PM on here - or get me via FB page and will send by PM that way - have the email address for all the directors at thomsons

  8. Sorry you are no further forward - I got £200 voucher as did a few other people I helped, via the directors office by emailing the CEO/MD direct - their department investiagate and answer to the CEO/MD - I never go through thoms after sales team, when they told me tough, and to take it further if I wanted to - so I did via the CEO/MD - they send ack email they telephone you, and also confirmation in telephone call that a cheq is in the post

They admitted to me in their response, and apoloigised for the "building works" taking place while on the dream - I don't like to leave my email address on here - feel free to contact me on Facebook under Mary Bethune or on thomson cruise/dream forum and I can send you the CEO/MD email addresses and a copy of the complaint I wrote, and my daughter worded it up better for me.

I complained/sent an email 3rd dec and the letter with my cheq was dated 9th Dec - they must hold onto it for a while as I got the letter dated 9th dec in the 2nd week of January

  9. Was on the black watch in Aug/Sept last year and loved it - we sat down in the bar a few times, and the drinks were on our table - bar staff knew what we drank, got to the stage we didn't even have to show our card - and when we left for the night they gave hubby 2 cans of cider to take away with him to the cabin

  10. No one on FB has received money - only vouchers so far - just myself and another passenger -

FOD1984 if you are on FB and a member of the Dream forum - you can contact me under the name Mary beaton and I will send you on a copy of my complaint letter - which you can adapt and re send to the CEO and the MD - do not go through the after care team - I did once and they told me tough if I didn't like it I cant take my complaint further - so I did and got my £££ back within 24hrs of emailing the big boys that was in march this year- when I was mis -sold the drinks package
