We shall do, Linda!  Again, looks like we'll just miss you.  We'll likely leave for home from KEF June 27/28.   We're actually in Seattle into next week - was with Vashon friends Wed, Seattle hot day Thursday and today the temp really dropped!

So is Saga class worth it for our trip home?   Would be interested to hear what excursions you thought were worthwhile as well.

  2. We did Northern Lights tour in Jan. 2019. It was really interesting. We did see the lights!
Snow  flurries daily were pretty. The dog sled excursion was magical. It had snowed the night before. Remember it is dark a lot. So views from busses on excursions were  often limited. Take hand warmers !

We sailed in mid January 2019 and saw an amazing display of lights about 45 minutes after leaving the port of Tromso on the ship. The crew alerted us and turned off most of the deck lights. Swirling curtain-like with lots of movement and definitely in color! We chose not to take pictures but simply be in the moment. Easily seen without a camera and what a memory! Seems like it lasted 20 or 25 minutes. Suggest downloading the apps for your tablet or phone which predict how likely Northern Lights will be seen each night. Very helpful in planning. So much depends on the sun activity, cloud cover and brightness of the moon. We loved everything about this cruise.

Thanks. One of the big concerns is certainly to have adequate winter clothing. I think we're just about good to go now. It's been a great opportunity here lately to test some new clothing being that the polar vortex has taken us down unusually low -  0 to minus temps. Were your NL excursions with GLØD?  From correspondence I've had over the past few months, it seems they are the company that does the Viking tours.

  5. We have sailed on Regent 7 times and on Cunard 3. We do prefer Regent but Cunard does

have a lot going for it. The class system part is not any problem at all. We feel that the rest of the ship is great and we don't even see or worry about the grill bars or restaurants. The music around the ship is exceptional. The speakers have been wonderful. Love to watch all the dancing in the evening. Two things that might be deal breakers, required suits or sport coats every night. And assigned seating for dinner, the same people every night can be difficult. But we would go again.

  6. My daughter was not quarantined by the cruise personnel; however she quarantined herself to our cabin for about 18 hours after her 4 hours spent in the infirmary because she was still quite red and swollen from the reaction she had. Prior to the effect of the IV steroids she received, her face was so swollen that her eyes would only open a tiny slit and she had trouble breathing.

I Hope she was seen by a Dr. when she got home. It sounds like an allergic reaction to the shrimp, and she could get it again, worse, if she eats shrimp again??? In that case it would not have been anything wrong with the shrimp.
